    📰 Beginners Blog:
Everything You Need to Carry Out a General Wash on Your car.
Most pressure washers these days come with Foam cannons however they tend to be rubbish however the New Ava Easy P57 comes with a premium Cannon. Grit guards will reduce the risk of dirt getting caught on your wash mitt but there still is a small risk of scratches so don't presume its 100% completely safe. I always start with either engine bay or the wheels. Once I finish the wheels I move on to the door Shuts (jambs) and then clean the petrol cap. Only then do I move on to the pre wash of the bodywork.
In most cases you will just use a citrus pre wash around the lower third of the car. Some people use traffic film removers which can be more aggressive so that comes down to your own preference if you decide to use it. (it is cheaper than citrus though) You can either rinse off or apply a layer of Snow foam on top to reactivate it.
once dwelled rinse off the foam and begin the contact wash. Alternatively you can fill up the foam cannon with a car shampoo and cover the bodywork to add lubrication to surface of the car. I washed my wife’s car yesterday, I used a cheapo foam to clean wheels/tyres with a small brush, then snow foamed the bodywork with Bilt Hamber AutoFoam, about 200/300mm product made up to 1L in my MJJC. After that I did something I’d never done before which was, as I had lots of foam left in my cannon I snow foamed it again and then washed it with my mitt. I rinsed off again and it looked great, plus, I only used 1 bucket with grit guard to swill the mitt.
As it was quite sunny, I managed to get it done quicker, didn’t use any shampoo and didn’t use any hot water in my 2nd bucket.
I’m about to order a citrus cleaner for my pre-wash to go forward, hopefully less scrubbing of the wheels which is my most hated job to do, but what I like most, clean alloys and dressed tyres………….

Can i mix an APC (GreenStar) with foam shampoo to get the same result was what you are getting with the citrus one? or is it ok spray the APC in the same dilution ration onto the panel and then cover it with snow foam ??? Until last week I had an Alfa 159 ti sportwagon in Russo red (imho the best colour) which used to look absolutely fantastic once I followed a lot of your tips, but lately it was doing its best to drain my wallet, so I sold it on. My replacement car is something totally different, a 2010 Honda CR-Z with a full service history, less than 59,000 miles and in a pearlescent white metallic paint which is in very good condition for its age. I am going to spend some money getting it professionally detailed at a firm local to me, as they are doing a good deal for a machine polish and a ceramic coating. The car last had the full Autoglym LifeShine deal (interior, exterior and glass) back in 2019. I have no idea if that was any good or not, but I think it's time to get it done again.

Ceramic coatings have come a long way. Synergy from infinitywax or g techniq ceramic coatings are very popular with good reason. I love white cars once they are clean. I'm looking at a white Audi TT at moment. Deciding if I should get it

@@epicautomotivedetailing That's the catch with white cars - you have to keep them clean. A lot less hassle than black cars though! I had an og Saab 9-5 Aero back in the day , followed by a Mk 8 Civic, both of them black. Did my head in keeping those buggers presentable. Black shows up every defect in the paint, whereas white is a lot more forgiving.

I drive an EV, while the charge port area does not get a mucky as petrol filler cap, dirt does accumulate there. What is your advice for cleaning it?
