Dear All, I am sooo glad that for once, on a "social media" platform, there is nearly no nonsense conflict over a music album. I have the impression that many people stick together for this band. Up the Irons! Greetings from tiny Luxembourg.
You are right my dear. Fates Warning is a band that if the person doesn't like it, there's no way to speak ill of it! Excellence is present in every detail of the sound of these guys!
You know 'Up The Irons' usually applies to Iron Maiden where the expression came from? However just checked out this very cool band too though I'm late to the party.
Been following Fates since 1986. Greatest prog band in the world. They never disappoint. They inspire our music journey on an ethereal level. Got us thru some dark times in life. Let’s all celebrate their pure genius. 🤘🤘
OMG! a new Fates Warning album! I discovered them in 1997 with A Pleasant Shade Of Grey, one of the best concept albums of all times in my opinion. It's my winter album, I like listening to it in rainy days. Definitely one of the most unique metal bands.
Fates Warning only improves with age. Every record they release is a bold push to the limits while mantaining their trademark sounding (especially on the last 3 albums) and this one is no exception. They never fail to deliver. Jim Matheos has always been a great (and underrated) guitar player but his talent as a composer is something out of this world, I really wish that he and Steven Wilson could put a project together. Ray's singing is better than ever.. passionate, powerful, mature. Great melodies and great work as the main lyricist for the record as well. Joey and Bobby are some of the best in the business, they really know their stuff. Super tight interaction and interplay. Great sounding overall, nice mix. People compare FW to Dream Theater and Queensryche... c'mon, this is far better than everything both DT and QR have released in the last decade.
Fates Warning forever! The best there ever was. Ray's voice has always been shocking and unchanging, Matheos is a genius period. Loved this band since 1988.
A lot of the comments are (rightfully) praising Jim and Ray, but holy hell Bobby Jarzombek is one phenomenal drummer. Even in an age of ridiculously talented metal drummers he stands out.
God, I hope this isn't their last album. The title of the album...the name of the last track...."The last song."...Interviews I've heard with Ray..."we weren't sure if we'd do another Fates album..." Hopefully, economics will prevail (buy and listen often!). If the album does well, like ToF did, they'll keep things going. Either way, I'm grateful. And I can't wait to hear this album. Fates has been the soundtrack of my life since 1987.
I assume they keep going as long as Matheos and Ray want to. I thought that huge hiatus after FWX meant they were done, so everything since DIDL has been a gift. They're never gonna get rich from this, my hope is that as long as it's creatively satisfying they'll continue. If not, look at all the great music that keeps coming out of the Fates universe. That won't stop either.
God forbid this is the last, but at least it will have been a merciful fate. The kreator doesn't always get to close the last chapter before rigor mortis sets in.
I wondered about all this. They're still young enough and have such a great chemistry along with all the passion they pour into the band, it's hard to see them calling it quits just because. Alter Bridge fans have it like that too. The last track on the last album is "Dying Light". Then the only new song on their new live ep is called "Last Rites". Again, another passionate band. I hope it's not the end for either band.
Seen them the first time on the No Exit tour in a bar in Kent , Ohio and many times since one of the greatest Metal bands of all time without a doubt !
Long-time and old-school Fates Warning fan. I was brought here by the Sea of Tranquility channel. They still sound great. I miss Mark Zonder but I love Bobby Jarzombek.
New Fates - just hearing Bobby Jarzombek masterful percussion is a celebration of the culmination of elite creativity and technical skill. And not only that, he kicks fookin ass.
Nice this joke man !! Jarzombek is a great drummer but out of place in FW, approximate performer of songs not written by him during live performance and arranger not very creative and predictable ! Unfortunately for him it is light years away from Zonder's harmony and compositivity IMO .... This record is almost all in 4/4, where is the masterpiece I don't know ? I define a masterpiece as a good record that goes beyond the impossible and that comes out of the lines for many bands and leaves a mark, a masterpiece is a record that has arrangements and songs that remain etched in your mind and that make you scream WOW FUCK! I hold it - the most underrated band in the world! Great musicians and one of the best rock singers ever! FW know how to put all kinds of emotions into music. Such great musicianship combined with sophisticated lyrics. Along with Rush, Tangerine Dream, Marillion (with Fish on vocals) one of my favorite bands for more than 20 years. I hope we will see them on stage in Germany after Corona has had its way.
I love Fates Warning, saw them only once when they came to Serbia on their last tour for Theories of Flight. This album is amazing, they just can't release bad album.
The Light and Shade of Things on the last album, and now The Longest Shadow of the Day on this one are up there for my favorite tracks ever by this band (or anyone), listener since 87'
I have already listened to it few times and I also ordered the vinyl .... A good record but nothing sensational and sometimes predictable to my ears, we are light years away from the great masterpieces that have left me shocked like Parallels, Inside Out, A Pleasant Shade of Gray and Disconnected! I continue to regret Zonder's creative and brilliant inspiration
His solo album is amazing. I have been listening to it non-stop almost for the last month. I never got a chance to really listen to it when it first dropped. Once I heard about the new Fates Warning album I decided to go back and fully digest the solo album. I was absolutely blown away.

I avoid comparing one band from another with similar sounds in a particular genre. These guys are in the top 10. So many amazing songs throughout their history. Never stagnant with their sound. Always creative. As with all the great rock bands of this century so far, they are part of a Progressive Rock Genre (Rock n Roll in general) with no true leadership, no organization and from what I can gather, no interest anywhere in rewarding the talented musicians for their achievements on a large scale. Compared to Country Music who are extremely organized. They have regular award programs that celebrate their bands with large scaled events. No band in country music with great songs goes unrecognized or unheard. They assist in getting the bands their deserved congratulations for having written and produced great songs. Hey Progressive Rock labels get your crap together and get this industry organized like it has deserved for far too long!
First saw them when Ray had just joined the band right before No Exit was released. Absolutely blown away, and have continued to be blown away for over 30 years. I really hope we haven't heard the last from Fates..
Fates music has become soul sound. Inmersive. Personal. Aggressive poetry. Soul searching stuff. I have been a fan since perfect simmetry. I was blown away. And they have not let the true fans down. Not just headbanging stuff, is metal taken to the level of high art.
WOW this is a true MASTERPIECE. Top 5 FW album for sure. Epic!!! Can't wait to get my physical cd copy. So cool you did 13 songs for your 13th album. This one is a keeper. No fillers on this one no way. Congrats. How for much success on this one and maybe hope to see a tour for this and bluray once covid is over!! God Bless. Rock on!! #longliveprog
I'm baffled at the single selection. Shuttered World, Alone We Walk, and Liar seem like much ore obvious single choices. Album is sounding really great after 3-4 listens. Need more time to digest it
I'm with you. I was frankly a little worried. "Scars" and "Now Comes The Rain" are good but hardly the album's best foot forward. That said, they have a pattern of releasing shorter, more straightforward songs as lead singles.
@@crusheverything4449 Not in the grand scheme, not really. I just find it interesting that for several albums now, it seems like their advance singles haven't been very representative of what the rest of the album sounds like.
and to add as always the most brilliant and full of surprises... rhythm section... best in the world... love to hear violins though... think it would be out of the Earth to hear accoustic Fates live with symphony orchestra... Under the sun... just made me thinking... tnx

What an amazing album! So inspirational. Looking forward to 2021.
The Best Progressive Metal that there is, it's the 2020 album of Progressive Metal so far.
Fates Warning are still going strong I see
this album is great. It's the first time I've heard it and I really like it.
Me too.it just popped up on my phone.
This album is great!!! 🤘 🤘 🤘
The King`s is back...!YES!! So , So , So MUCH IN FRONT OF THE OTHERS!
The king’s what is back? 🤨
First saw them when Ray had just joined the band right before No Exit was released. Absolutely blown away, and have continued to be blown away for over 30 years. I really hope we haven't heard the last from Fates..
just recently, Ray confirmed that Jim had no plans in writing new Fates material.
Fates Warning never disappoints. Thank you for delivering another fantastic album!

Do singles really matter that much to a band like FW?
@@crusheverything4449 Not in the grand scheme, not really. I just find it interesting that for several albums now, it seems like their advance singles haven't been very representative of what the rest of the album sounds like.
Per fortuna esistono ancora bands che fanno ottima musica per palati fini. Grazie per upload.
incredible band and performers. hope my talents can reach their height of the arts someday
They can!!! and you'll find it gets easier to do that stuff that used to seemed so hard..
and to add as always the most brilliant and full of surprises... rhythm section... best in the world... love to hear violins though... think it would be out of the Earth to hear accoustic Fates live with symphony orchestra... Under the sun... just made me thinking... tnx
Saw you guys in 2019 at the Concord Theater… never heard of you till then, you guys f’n rocked!!! Bought your “Disconnected” album.
Get back to Chicago/Aurora/Joliet area in ‘23!!!
Ray is one of the best singers ever. Fates Warning should be on the radio instead of the crap they play now.
too complicated for the crowd
Awesome! FW #1 these will be a Long Wait to Good Album!
Fates Warning is a killer band! Sound, lyrics, timbres, feeling, everything exudes excellence! They should always be proud of such a brilliant artistic career! Congratulations Fates Warning! Always keep growing!
