    Hi Rick and Pauline ,, good dip of trains there ,, the car transporter deck comes up from the middle but they do get a tad sticky so I found the best way is to turn them upside down and give it a light tap in the middle then on each ends and it should come loose and then just pull it up manually to load the cars onto the bottom deck. I started with 1 that i got in a job lot then bought a few here and there and have about 7 or 8 of them all in different stages of bits missing. They are extremely light ive experimented with a length of the thin lead car weights that hey put on the inside of mag whels to balance the rims and tyres on the bottom deck and they seem to run a bit better but what makes them run better again is a teeny drop of sewing machine oil on the pin point axles and they run really good or better than dry axles at least. I have also converted about three to steel wheels with pin point axles and they run awesome especially with a rake of them. Anyhoo some like them some dont and that is life haha...
    Cheers from John in Australia

      Hi John, yes it does get stuck occasionally, it's got a bit of character but a wheel change is top of the list for it. All the best Rick

    Hi Rick & Pauline,
    Nice choice, the Dapol Terrier, my favorite, is indeed a very nice model, specially for its age, that still can compete with the latest models around.
    I got the same model and although pre DCC ready, it was still an easy model to build in a DCC module.
    It must have been one of the first models not DCC ready that I transformed.
    Being not a big fan of diesels, I have to admit that the Class 52 maroon is a super nice model, and I can understand why this is one of your favorites.
    The city class wreck is made out of a Dapol plastic kit, a very good alternative to make the scrap yard looking loco's.
    The Triang loader can be described as a toy rather than a model, but you can look at it in an other way.
    When we where children it was this type of models that we had, they where made robust to play with and at the time in our imagination these where as detailed as we see the latest models now.
    And this is how we should look at them, would I buy it, I don't think so, unless you're a collector of Triang or out of nostalgic reasons, but it's a time witness, that's for sure.
    Thank for the entertainment…
    Cheers,
    Danny

    Happy New Year Rick & Pauline...loving the videos every week. The middle of the car trasporter should lift up to allow cars to be placed on the lower level ☺...I've still got mine from the 70s somewhere up in the depths of the loft.

    Happy New Year to you both!
    Cheltenham Model Centre’s special commissions are worth looking out for.
    Back in May 2017 I visited their shop and bought, secondhand, the Lima Golden Ochre Class 52 for £20 (#405 of 500) plus a DCC Ready Hornby Class 50 ‘Sir Edward Elgar’ (R2408, available only in 2004) for £95. Subsequently, I’ve bought Hornby R2039 SR Schools Class ‘Cheltenham’ (#336 of 1,000; 1997). All of them in great condition.
    Hope someone rescues your silver Trix A4!

    I have an old Hornby terrier which is in fact the old Dapol moulding, it is good but it does make a horrible noise if not serviced regularly. Hornby's new terrier is pretty good too.

      Hi Alex, yes Hornby bought the moulds of Dapol, it's a very good model for its age. I would like to get a couple more as they are very good value for money. Thanks for watching Rick

    The Car-a-belle came with 6 scale cars. The deck was raised easily by picking up the deck. I have 6 of them and they all work with a little bit of care. I'm interested in helping you with the A4. I need about 8 to have one of every name my lady acquisition was 60034 a pre owned Lord Faringdon ( hornby)

    Your videos fascinating. How do you find out where all the fairs are held?
    That Western looks - and runs - great for it's age, especially from the detailed end. I have a fleet of Lima class 37s. Of course, they're nowhere near as good as the latest Bachmann or Accurascale models, but from 3 feet away they look fine, and the prices allowed me to build the fleet of variously-livered examples. My favourite Lima models are a couple of Special Edition green class 20s. They look superb in tandem.
    I recently bought new the Ltd Ed CMC Dapol Western King, which was not as successful as CMC had hoped, as it cost me "only" £110. Lovely model, and at a relatively reasonable price.

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  7 місяців тому

      Hi Stephen, the fairs are advertised on the UK Model Directory (apart from the BP Fairs which have their own website. We have our own well Chuffed Facebook Group In which we list fairs and exhibitions. I have yet to get a Lima Class 20 but they do look very nice. Oh it sounds like you got a bargain there! All the best Rick

    • @stephendavies6949
      @stephendavies6949 7 місяців тому

      @@wellchuffedrailways Thanks Rick. I know of the UK Model Directory, but not of the BP Fairs website.
      The Lima 20s are best in their Ltd/Special Edition guises. You can tell the difference mainly by the quality of the fan detail on the roof. One top tip if you do acquire one (or two): the buffers need to be pulled out prior to body removal.

    Hmmm, I thought it was a nice collection of stock. Even the repainted diesel-hydraulic was not a bad looker in all honesty- seen a lot worse. The autorack was interesting. IN the US, unless it is a high-end model, you get the ugliest cheap plastic cars, so the opposite of your experience. More fun and smiles, thanks!

      Hi Anthony, the only bad thing is the transporter. The Diesel is really nice as is the Terrier. Pauline put the transporter in as she knows it's one of our worst buys. To be honest it does make the videos more fun! All the best Rick
