Hey you were out there at the same time ChrisPfish was. And he caught his at the same exact time as you did. On the radio you could hear the guy calling out how deep was the fish that was caught on the north river. That was the same call that was sent out to Chris when he caught his. Lol
Hi Dave, I always enjoy your fishing video. I'm an old downrigger salmon troller living in the northwest. Here are 2 ideas for your consideration: 1. Keep your drag tight while trolling and spend some effort getting a hook set. Most of my salmon "misses" have been due to lack of hook-set. 2. Set your lure closer to your flasher. I set mine around 21". This will give more action to your lure (or whole-rigged spinning bait), and it brings the fish closer to the rod tip to make netting easier. Tight lines!
Although I am not a fishing expert or have gone since I was a teenager, it is pretty inspiring to see your fishing videos and get back to outdoor fishing. I recently bought rod & reel. Then got many fake baits from Walmart , not knowing which one will work. Anyway, will check back on new videos.
Generally when trolling for salmon you want to set the hook then let off some to let the fish tire out and you don't loose it buy pulling the hook all the way through its mouth
I was going to ask when u were going to get the old town back. I’d be lost without mine. You had me on pins pulling up those fish, felt like I was in the yak with you. Nice fish!!!!
Hahaha I love the channel, but your the first person I have ever seen fish for salmon in a kayak on the ocean. Wish I had a trick for ya but everything I have learnt I have from you. Keep them coming kid, makes my blood boil.....
Hi. John from Hawthorne CA here. What is the purpose or function of the rectangular thing on your line? I think you called it a flasher??? Thanks and keep up the good work. I love your content!
You asked at one point if there was a trick to avoiding shakers. I know in the Puget Sound one way is to go bigger on your bait. You'll get less hook ups but they should be bigger fish.
the thrill of victory the agony of defeat!!! that's fishing! what is that wheel on your right hand side you keep cranking?? Nice job on the salmon had some fun for the ultimate meals!! Interesting how the day starts out so sunny and nice then goes to poop with clouds!!
awsome fishing video bro.i love kayak fishing, been a fan for a bit now, just wanted to say good job and i enjoy your content, thank you, checking in from oregon
On bleeding the fish, have you tried also severing the arteries on the tail end of the fish and dragging the fish for a bit? Wonder if the Ike jime technique will improve the quality for you.
3rd. i missed something, what happened to the electric kayak did it get trashed in the surf? used to fish there got lost in the fog out at deep reef got back to shore up by moss beach cove inside the reef. lots of fog, almost didn't make it out, my 19' bayliner w outboard lucky for me never hit the rocks, very scary for us, i like your channel
I am not dissing you for your efforts and am one of your patreon so obviously I really enjoy your content however, I would offer this. I was losing fish as well trying to land them in the kayak, I got a shorter rod (old 8.6 new 7 foot) which made all the difference!! I would say no longer than 7 feet. Keep on truck ' n
Haha so i just got done watching chris fishes video and he landed a fish the same time as you i could hear the guy on your radio asking chris how deep the fish was that he just landed
Adam, Coastsidefissingclub seeds that harbor every year. Total volunteer effort to stock the pens. Be a great video if you joined em doing it. Couple more weeks from now watch guys landing fish INSIDE THE HARBOR!
Like most fishermen, you use what has worked in the past…Salmon are not leader shy fish, since using a 28” leader when fishing Hoochies is the norm….and it looks as though a shorter leader would make netting larger fish easier for you….
Try fishing a J plug by rapala or silverhorde.Connect your flasher to the DR ball with 4 ft of heavy mono and attatch your release clip about 5 ft above the ball, Far enough from the flasher so they don't interfer. Clip your main line to the release so that the J plug is behind the flasher by 5 to 10 ft. Alos try using a brea-away flasher, you will loose less fish.
With barbless hooks and he's hot, you did a good job once figured out. He'll be a beautiful fillet. They're always good ones,eh🤣. I'm putting you out on the east coast, fish on brother!
Hey brother, it’s not your flasher causing smaller fish. Just keep at it and weed through them but I’ve always been taught to use larger bait or lures to avoid possible smaller fish. I don’t know if that would work for you or not .
Why do you continue to Pedal the boat, when we are fishing in motor boats we shut down the engine and then fight the fish, have you tried lures like spoons or Rapalas, just curious thanks
You shouldnt paddle so fast away from the fish when you hook them. All the pressure of you dragging them with you is pulling the hooks out when you lose them. Slow down once your hooked up and keep the line tight with your reel. Youll land more of them
Where you fishing at? Hate to be that guy. But I wanna take my drift boat out for salmon, got a 9.9 mercury on the back so I can push a little distance. But if your killing them on the kayak, I can for sure make it in my alumaweld. Anyone knows please let me no.
Nice pair of fish. Old town? You getting soft? Lol, jk. I think you are catching shorts because of your flasher. I don’t use 1, but have tape on my downrigger ball some 20 feet in front of my bait. My buddies use flashers and so far this year my fish have been noticeably bigger w/ less trout caught. Without the flasher it is all about the perfect spin and presentation to lure the lunkers 🤙

I was wondering if anyone would notice that!!!!

Two nice ones, and one heartbreak. That's fishing. Thanks for the video Adam. ✌🏻😎🎣

Awesome!!! Good luck!
Thank you Adam on the down rigger explanation!! it was me!
Nice job Adam! Look forward to seeing you out there again!
Nice to see you out there!
You really worked for those fish, nice fish. i guess you really miss the Oldtown, hope you get up and running.

I was going to ask when u were going to get the old town back. I’d be lost without mine. You had me on pins pulling up those fish, felt like I was in the yak with you. Nice fish!!!!
I was going to ask the same thing about the "Old Town".
Its coming back soon!!!!
Greetings from Oregon. Beautiful fish. Nice catch. Thank you for a great video.

Adam once again the fish gods smile upon you you’re still the diehard fishing master well done.
Thanks for joining me!
You asked at one point if there was a trick to avoiding shakers. I know in the Puget Sound one way is to go bigger on your bait. You'll get less hook ups but they should be bigger fish.
Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Great job on awesome fish. Thank you for sharing.
Heartbreak on that one near the end. Great vid.
Bro, that’s a real tough one to catch, those are big fighters. But you win, congrats again Adam.
Great catch we have trout and cat fish plus other kinds of fish to I lost a big cat fish coming in but it's fun good fishing
when is the electric kayak making another appearance? Seem like it’s been down for a while
On bleeding the fish, have you tried also severing the arteries on the tail end of the fish and dragging the fish for a bit? Wonder if the Ike jime technique will improve the quality for you.
Love the transition to the next day. So small yet a lot of effort put into it! Keep rippin it up out there
Thanks! Appreciate the support!
Where do you launch for ocean acess, and pedal vs electric kyack? Thanks
3rd. i missed something, what happened to the electric kayak did it get trashed in the surf? used to fish there got lost in the fog out at deep reef got back to shore up by moss beach cove inside the reef. lots of fog, almost didn't make it out, my 19' bayliner w outboard lucky for me never hit the rocks, very scary for us, i like your channel
Tossed in the surf and shorted out.
Let's go! Got you some gooood dinner
what kind of gear do you use when you're salmon fishing from your yak? rod length and strength, reel sizes, and tackle/gear?
Great video! Where were you here?
I am not dissing you for your efforts and am one of your patreon so obviously I really enjoy your content however, I would offer this. What LB. Rating and stiffness do you use?
Haha so i just got done watching chris fishes video and he landed a fish the same time as you i could hear the guy on your radio asking chris how deep the fish was that he just landed

Couple more weeks from now watch guys landing fish INSIDE THE HARBOR!
My #1 reason to use a downrihgger is to keep from dumping 2.5lb of lead off the ocean floor every time you catch a shaker.
I love watching these videos bro, keep it up
Awesome! What's wrong with the Old Town?
spits the hook like a sunflower seed shell? please elaborate given the chance thanks in advance!! oh and nice catch on that new lamiglass
Like most fishermen, you use what has worked in the past…Salmon are not leader shy fish, since using a 28” leader when fishing Hoochies is the norm….and it looks as though a shorter leader would make netting larger fish easier for you….
Hey Adam, may I ask what harbor you are launching from??

Awesome stuff! Can’t wait to drive up one day and experience the rush
Have fun!
With barbless hooks and he's hot, you did a good job once figured out. He'll be a beautiful fillet. They're always good ones,eh🤣. I'm putting you out on the east coast, fish on brother!
Nice job Adam on the limits! Heartbreaking with that one fish but thanks for leaving it for the rest of us haha
Just wanted to let that one grow a bit before someone catches it again.
Hey brother, it’s not your flasher causing smaller fish. Just keep at it and weed through them but I’ve always been taught to use larger bait or lures to avoid possible smaller fish. I don’t know if that would work for you or not .
Have you or anyone you know tried the okuma cw-303d?
Why do you continue to Pedal the boat, when we are fishing in motor boats we shut down the engine and then fight the fish, have you tried lures like spoons or Rapalas, just curious thanks

Nice limit bro! What kind of Lamiglas is that?
Those long rods really stress me out when your trying to land a fish😂 a little shorter rod maybe will help? I dont know. Just asking
Another good way to fully bleed a fish is to make a cut just before the tail and break the spine, then you drain from both ends.
use a old school plug if you want to avoid shakers.
What is the max wave height you've had to deal with on your kayak? What surf/wind speed you consider your limit?
It depends on a lot of different factors but I think the highest swell I have been in is around 10'
Probably got dragged around on a commercial trawler for a while before ripping itself off the hook
What model of transponder do you use?
"get my legs flowing" my legs wither away in my kayak. paddle, no pedals
are you in southern California ? can join u in your kayak fishing trip ?
is Santa Cruz??
Bodega Bay??
What length rod is that?
Nice fish Adam. Another great video
23:20 is that not the best way to attract sharks?
When do you think Stripers will show up at Pacifica?
In June you missed it
You going to fish Tomales Bay anytime soon?
Where do you go out at?
good fishing bro congratulations
Beautiful fish. Love fishing for salmon.
GOOD JOB DUDE!!!
nice one Adam!
Hey young man, the Salmon are raised in hatcheries to acclimate to the river system they’ll return to then transported to where they are released
Ever seen the pens at hmb? Young man
I was holding my breath. How exciting!
Either a longer rod or a shorter leader will make for easier landings.
flasher can go on the down rig adding a release clip 4 ft above. This way the flasher is never a issue working against you
Love your videos
Nice day, BTW - especially for your late start!
What size kayak are you on? And also where is this?
What did you do to your AP??
“oh, that’s a fish!”
Love your video
Try only using a 25 too 28 inch leader for bigger fish faster
Where are you fishing in this video?
The only way to get away from shakers is move to a different area.
I use my deep six divers more than my down riggers and have unbelievable success!
at roughly 28:00 shark fin
I get my smoked salmon from seabear in Anacortes WA yummy don't have to get wet.
no more electric kayak?
I am Irish I guess being Asian makes you a better fisherman! You go. !
what happen to the old town?
You're a one-man Army bro
Where’d you get the net idea? lol
Just learned from this other good kayak fisherman I met😁
Where you fishing at? Hate to be that guy. But I wanna take my drift boat out for salmon, got a 9.9 mercury on the back so I can push a little distance. But if your killing them on the kayak, I can for sure make it in my alumaweld. Anyone knows please let me no.

Nice!
Salmon won’t get bigger for next years catch. They die when returning to river unlike steelhead.
NICE!!!
Redemption!
Why aren't you on your Old Town?
