The reason no one catches onto Deku having one for all is ignorance from everyone to an extent. From their perspective, he's a fan boy with a similar quirk to all might just shouting out all his signatures moves like it's WWE

Arif Ahmed this is further explained because people don’t know all mights quirk or how it works. So it very much looks like Deku is also strong and is a fanboy and all might has taken a liking to him because of that.

As well as that powerup quirks aren't that rare. Super strength seems to be a common enough type of quirk for people to have.
Everyone always assumes "shouldn't they know Deku's like Almight?" That doesn't make any sense though... It cannot be THAT strange that someone would mimic the worlds greatest hero... There's probably thousands of kids with strength based quirks who try to mimic Almight. Hello look at how many people scream "Kamehameha" irl...
For real, All Might has a ton of hero fans around Japan and probably the world. And deservedly so.
@@LD1E60 You seem to forget that no one else knows that quirks can be transferred by certain people. To everyone else you're born with what you got and that's it. They all just assume Deku is copying Allmight. Or, like Todoroki, he's somehow Allmight's son.
@@LD1E60 I think most think that All Might wants to help him more BECAUSE he has similar quirk. Like if someone had a qurik like Midnight then she'd help them after class.
Kappa that’s why todoroki thought that Deku was all mights love child or whatever. You’ve got to keep in mind, particularly since the public doesn’t know about all for one, the idea of transferring quirks is probably inconceivable to people. It’s just not something anyone except for the hardcore conspiracy theorist would believe.
Also, Dekus manifestation of the power is still different enough from almights (almighty has no lightning of power lines, unless those are just there for the viewers benefit, but I don’t think it is) that it just looks like they both have overwhelming general strength augmenting quirks, which could also be why people think all might gives preferential treatment to deku (I.e. deku reminds all might of a young version of himself). There are other strength based students, but none of them have explosive strength like that. Combine that with the public villain attack from season one against the sludge monster, and that could give people the reasoning of why all might sees potential in deku, and focuses on helping him.
And the similarity in fighting styles and names could easily be explained by dekus known fanboy-ness.

@@LD1E60 To everybody else in this world, it is unfathomable that quirks could be transferred like that. Deku could easily be a super fanboy with a strength quirk mimicking his hero. If someone managed to connect them, they would probably think they were father/son (like todoroki did).
Fun fact: the nomu with the wings in this episode is actually the kid you see in the flashbacks with deku and Bakugo as kids , that’s pretty dark

Also, that kid was Tsubasa, the grandson of the doctor who confirmed that Midoriya was quirkless.

Also he was building his confidence after shinsou fight. You know the " i was quirkless too" talk. He stopped doubting himself at this point. Other than that ye. He is a very bad teacher.
@@mordredvonumbra154 I think it goes back to the event to get into UA. Soon as he saw Deku broke both his legs and arm that should have been the moment he called Gran Torino for advice.
Blood type is actually normal information to share in Japan, a lot of other anime/manga include blood type on character sheets. They think blood type affects personality, like Type A people are well-organized or Type O people are optimistic; It's kind of like horoscope signs.
I like how Todoroki identified with Ida's need for justice/vengeance. And how fixating on one aspect of it can cloud your judgement.
I'm glad we have Deku (who doesn't understand Ida's feelings but sees the situation) and Todoroki (who understands both) being there to help him. It gives him a more rounded view of everything that's happening.

It's probably a good idea to remind you guys that quirks being transferred to and from people is not a thing that exists, as far as the world at large knows. It's why Deku was confused about inheriting OFA in the beginning, why Bakugo was so angry and confusd in the beginning also and why Todoroki wondered if he was All Might's secret child during the tournament.
We as anime fans having seen so many shows, we assume that a power can probably transfer because it's anime, Deku mentioned in the very start that transferring has never been considered in debates about quirks.
In MHA it is an entirely unfathomable concept, which is why the obvious answer to Deku's similarities to All Might don't come to mind for most characters. On top of that, 80% of the world has quirks remember, so all kinds of strength quirks (with different rules, triggers and limitations) are probably fairly common place, the idea of a person being inspired by All Might to the degree of copying attack names isn't too shocking, especially with how little people tend to know about the specifics of another person's quirk.
I have watched this particular scene/episode so, so many times and I don't understand this myself, but I STILL get goosebumps when the operatic music starts up.
It also kicks in during deku vs todorki fight. Also during inner monologue and at intense moment.

If you think about it Tenya attitude was foreshadowed in the entrance exam. You saw the way he ignored Deku to save himself.

Maybe the reason people don’t assume Deku has All Mights quirk is because people view quirks as a part of their body and something that cant be transfered. If this happened in real life but with athletes instead of heroes you wouldn’t assume one transfered their genes to the other.
Yeah the only one who thought that so far was Todoroki who had to assume he was All Mights love child. Deku also breaks himself.

I can’t even say how many times I’ve rewatched this show, and I STILL get chills.
Also this episode and arc is fantastic because it’s, like, the Best Boy Trifecta.
Todoroki has a gift of empathizing and understanding the darkness in others even a little more than Deku. Probably because he himself was faced with his dark side.
Thing you have to remember is All Might said Todoroki gave a similar vibe to Midoriya. Todoroki too is really a true hero but he had given in to his frustrations and forgotten his inspiration. Midoriya cleared his head and helped him look up from that. Now his journey is to struggle and recover from limiting himself and finding who he is as a hero. Helping Iida is one of his first steps to understanding who Todoroki really is.
Honestly one of my favorite characters. Whose journey I am so freaking excited to see.

The blood type is a long standing thing with japanese. You see it in some older game manuals. Is a shorthand for what kinda personality.

Yea, Iida wasn't trying to be a hero, but an assassin. The kids aren't heros yet (legally). Is why they are going to school and why Gran Turino told deku to stay on the trail.
This arc is what made me switch to the subbed version. Not because I preferred the voices or anything (though certain slight differences are nice) but because I just COULDNT wait another week to find out what was happening.
It was just too hard.

"Full Cowling" is originally "Full Cowl", it's just for whatever they translated it to "Cowling". And if I were to guess, it's a generalized superhero reference, like how Batman has his "cape and cowl".
In the sub it kinda sounds like he's saying "full cowling" too so that might be why.
@@itscris1973 It sounds a lot more like he's saying "Kaoru", which would be the way "Cowl" phonetically translates into their writing system. But yeah, when it's said with all the background music and emotion the extra syllable at the end kinda tricks you into hearing an "ing". It's not a bad translation, it's just kinda weird to me.
The ACTUAL ones that bug me are in Season 3 where english words are clearly audible in some attack names but they're translated completely differently in the subtitles/dub audio.
the original is actual "full cowling" and was original subbed as "full cowl". the problem with that is "one for all: full cowl" sounds like the name of a super move...which isn't how quirks work. "full cowling" isn't a name or a command...it's a description. the reason he still has to tell himself to go "full cowling" is because it's still a new way for him to use the quirk currently but you notice he stops saying it later in the series.

MHA is the true successor of Naruto. You can see so much inspiration from it especially since the writer was a big fan of Naruto, One Piece and Star Wars. That's another reason why most characters in MHA are given a lot of individual focus and the story is a journey from childhood to adulthood as they were a huge reason for the story telling success of the three that inspired it. Plus, you'll notice many character similarities as the show progresses.

Gosh... I really like Todoroki's voice in this dub. The voice actor is doing a stelar job. Each time Todoroki has a inner monologue, I find myself going over it again and again... is just that good.

While blood types do mater with stain, that NOT why they livening you the blood type. In Japan Bloody types are used to describe personality type the same way we use the Zodiac birth signs. instead af asking people "what is your sign" they ask about your blood type.
"Run better!...run at all" - my thoughts exactly normies. I think the saves here are even more satisfying than at the usj. Love todiroki here, his thoughts to and of Iida, and than his Mom, "she forgave me faster than I ever thought possible" such a child's thought given their situation. I imagine she thought he wasn't guilty at all; I imagine after her actions she thought "he forgave me faster than I ever imagined." 😭.
I love how Suraj just keeps trying to find a way to complain about Deku finding Iida, and Todoroki finding the same alley, yet the show goes out of it's way to provide solid explanations as to how it all happened.
Assuming it's all mights quirk isn't something normal in their society. When nobody knows there's only two quirks that pass on power... They wouldn't know that. So why would they assume he has all mights power. Besides style and words All Might just seems super strong if he was leaking energy all the time like early Deku then yeah visual hints as well but besides that there's no reason to notice him as more than an Uber fanboy that even built a costume around his hair and smile.

when midoriya used his smash the first time all might told him to yell "inside his heart" so whenever he says it out loud he's probably just saying smash for motivation but his thoughts are saying what kind he's doing. because midoriya isnt so oblivious to let any kind of hints about one for all out.

It seems the dub skipped this bit, but Midoriya also mentioned that he moved from where the Noumus were *towards the general direction of Manual's office*, where Manual and Iida would have been coming from. That does narrow down the choices quite a lot compared to searching every alleyway.
I remember when I first saw Endeavor fight I realized that even though he's is a dumpster fire of a father, I couldn't deny that he's a both a powerful and resourceful fighter.
As a manga reader I can confirm to you that no one dies in this series and nothing brutal ever happens... hehehehe

One thing people don't really notice on their first viewing is what amounts to an important character moment for Endeavor.
His catchphrase of "I'm here because I'm a hero" is the exact opposite of All Might's which is "Because I am here!".
This is important in setting up what makes Endeavor number 2 instead of number 1. Even though he has incredible prowess and abilities he can't get over the hurdle into the top spot because he views being a hero as a job and that's why he saves people, because he is obligated to and he's really more into the wealth, admiration, and perks he's gained from being a hero.
All Might reached number one because he wants to save those that can't save themselves and that moral determination put him on top in the eyes of the people. Others put All Might on top.
Endeavor is number two because he wants to be on top and saves people to reach that end. Endeavor wants to take the top for himself, even if that means knocking the people above him off the ladder instead of climbing higher.

That was a good idea Mickey had about Tody making a dome around him. I would like to think he hasn’t begun getting creative like that with his quirk. Also using both sides in a fight is brand new to him. He’s just green in a lot of ways as a hero.
This was the first time he is using both sides in a fight and he later does say it slows him down alternating between stuff. But honestly dome was also what I thought about.
I just think it was because the purpose of the fight was to keep Stain away, that is why he didn't do it.
And it shows that not only Todoroki but everyone is green at this point.. And experience helps
The actual reason they give you the blood types is because in Japan it's a common belief that you're blood type determines you luck. Its actually common information given in anime, tie in data books, and jrpgs

I love how this show shows the knock-on effect of good deeds. Like, Todoroki is empathizing with and saving Iida because Deku did the same thing for him. And Deku did that for Todoroki in part because Deku is wonderful, but also in part due to the inspiration of All Might's heroism. The show makes sure to show the lasting effect that good deeds have on the world around you. I love it.
In my opinion... This episode is actually WAY better in English dub than in the sub
Don’t you guys remember that all might’s quirk is unknown to the public? Even he stated in earlier episodes. There’s billions of people in the world. There’s bound to be people with same or similar quirks. Like kirishima and tetsu tetsu. That’s why people aren’t pointing fingers at deku and saying he has one for all. They just think he has strength and speed enhancement abilities

One really cool thing is that I've seen all these episodes, I have seen all of naruto, all of atla, and its amazing because they get to watch all these amazing things for the first time like there's SOO much shit that's gonna happen in naruto and my hero academia and we get to feel like we're watching these for the first time as well. Cuz the sad truth is that there is not much of amazing animes and shows out there and after watching them completely, it kinda leaves a hole in you that only another show of such caliber can fill. So it's amazing that we get to experience watching these shows for the first time again. Keep it up! and please don't stop watching Naruto! And watch rising of the shield hero!

Anime academia has many chapters already but I believe this chapter end is the most stressful cliffhanger. Everyone love MHA before that but everyone hate it after that.
Why would you expect anybody to have a reaction at all to Deku naming his attacks like All Might. The guy is THE NUMBER ONE HERO. It's like repeating catch phrases of your favorite character. EVERY kid in the world with a basic super strength power would calling their attacks the same. All it tells the villains is that Deku is a huge All Might's fanboy.

To be fair, with 80% of the entire world having quirks, someone with an ability like All Might’s and then copying him isn’t exactly all that hard to imagine. Kirishima (hard boy, if the Normies read this and still don’t have names down) has a quirk that’s like 2 different people, Tetsutetsu and Crimson Riot, and he even made his hero name Red Riot to pay homage to Crimson Riot. And they show (no spoilers) in the manga that some people identify better with others simply by having similar quirks. It’s not too unreasonable for the characters to see Deku copying All Might’s moves, making his hood and mask look like his hair and face and All Might favoring him, as Deku just being a Plus Ultra fanboy and All Might being biased due to their quirks being near identical. Hell, we’ve already seen 2 water based heroes at this point in the show (no names or context coming up but incredibly slight spoilers for Normies) and later on there’ll be 3 more. (No unknown names or context but incredibly slight manga spoilers) Someone even calls Deku a Gran Torino rip-off because of how he starts moving around with all of that jumping about.

I love how Todoroki's pushing Stain back with ice to not only keep him in Deku's presence, but keep him away from Iida and Native.
The story telling is so good if only DBZ had a good story like this maybe I would watch it

Season 3 is basically the Bakugo reflection season. Basically everything that happens in the first half is because Bakugo is a terrible person, and the second half is the fallout of what happens. And the second to last fight in season 3 is one of the best in the series.
