While jazz has certainly influenced all these genres, Jungle/DnB actually descended from Caribbean music, such as reggae and dub (hence the basslines). Hip Hop came from electrofunk, which descended from funk, soul and R&B, ultimately from the blues.
....and jazz came from enslaved African's cries for deity blessing.

I never forget the year I got to know his music was the year this album was released, and my immediate feeling was “OMG THIS IS THE BEST MUSIC I HEARD ON A WHILE HE IS A GENIUS”, and then bang, in the same year he won lot of Grammies and awards

so non-pretentious or -glamorous. So healthy to watch and listen when it' s all about MUSIC (Groove, melodies and, feelin'). No equipment or bling trash. All down to the basics and roots! So simple, yet so hard to actually do. Never heard a piano being played like this and I have been listening to plenty and play a bit myself. But this guy just steps aside of conventional thinking and just "goes crazy".

This video brings me back to 16 december 2016. The day of the memorial of our Jeroen. Our only and lovely sun, who was in his master as disigner (he did social design) took his own live.
As connected mother I saw more than anybody. I was reading his eyes and body. He took our li ve but he did not realise that anymore. How connected can it be if I shoose this song at his memorial to celebrate his 23 years being with us if you open the Ipad of our son and see that Liquid spirit was half listened on.... thanks!!!

Great song. Gregory for me IS the best contemporary jazz singer of these days. Had the pleasure to see him live in Germany last year. But is anybody out here who recognizes this artistically played piano solo by Chip Crawford, reflecting the lyrics of the song? From the sparkling, bubbling liquid immitated by the high notes in the beginning of his solo at 01:56, filling up the cups with the bassline and finally swallowing it with a descending, chromatic scale at 02:15. This is absolutely brilliant!!! Please like my comment, if you agree to my interpretation. I´m quite sure that this is what Chip wanted to express. :)

Man takes me back. I used to DJ at a House / deep house / tech club. I would play this song. I had the closing set this would sometimes be my last song. I just loved the vibe hearing this blaring out the speakers. Then coming out humming this song after a good set into the dawn of a new day. I would play this not a remix! It just cleanses the palate.
