If you need to use it long term, I suggest going to those drug stores in front of Siriraj hospital. There prices are like20-40% less than Boots or Watson's. They have them all, both generic and original, vitamins, etc. I normally buy it at Petcharat (Diamond Pharmacy).

Was in Thailand in November 2023 to January 2024, had a couple of health issues and also ran out of a medication I have on prescription in the UK. I had zero trouble getting my hands on the drugs I needed and they were really cheap. Used Boots for some and Watson’s for the others. Thailand is way ahead when it comes to healthcare.

I highly doubt any pharmacy would be without those medications. They'd have a variety. You will need to contact a hospital as normally only the hospital pharmacies will prescribe Category 2 narcotics. Pharmacies won’t have them. It’s a fairly strict system. I’d recommend sending an email to all the major hospitals (Bumrungrad, Bangkok, Samitivej etc) and ask each one. You will need a consultation and a new prescription for Thailand. You can also check the public hospitals which are very good and likely cheaper - esp Chula and Sriraj.

@@thebangkokguide Thank you very much for the reply. I understand those meds are heavily regulated, but I've been taking the stuff for 15 years, and I'll have no trouble getting the prescriptions. I intend on a long stay there, years, who knows. I'm coming from a few years in the Philippines, and it's the same there. Only certain doctors can prescribe.
In the Philippines a 30mg Oxy was about $8AUD, so maybe $6US each. The MS Contin is nowhere near as effective, however, they were about $3Aud - $2.20US each for a 60mg each pill each. The reason I'm asking is that none of the pharmacies or hospitals return emails, so I cannot get said information. In fact one hospital did return a message but without the pricing I requested, they wanted me to leave them my house in my wiull before sharing the information. Not exactly, but they wanted me to jump through so many hoops I just gave up. If they're the same, or even more expensive, I'll just stay in the Phils, but I really want to spend some time in Thailand before I leave this world.
This is why I put out that request. If you happen to be in a reputable pharmacy one day, I sincerely appreciate it if you could at least ask for even a couple of them.

    • @thebangkokguide

I am unsure about prices. I'll take a look, but generally this is a hospital only drug with pretty strict conditions around prescription. However, if you have an existing prescription it is possible to bring a 90-day supply with you, which is the maximum allowed. Remember that whatever amount much you bring, you must get permission to import it first, before you travel as this is a class 2 narcotic in Thailand, so you need to have an approval from the Thai FDA to import any amount, even for personal medical use. Check this site for details and the forms/documents you need to submit: permitfortraveler.fda.moph.go.th/nct_permit_main/

If i go to Thailand can I get a refill of my opiate pain medication ? They don't do 90 day supplies of pain meds in my area. Just 30 days so running out could be a major issue.

You will have a tough time finding either of those at a mom and pop pharmacy. Xanax normally requires a prescription though you might be able to track it down.
