That kid on the guitar was fantastic all over the album, yeah he was only 18 or 19 years old when the album was recorded, as much as i know this kid is still active but in low profile, he should be a famous guitar player, thanks for sharing.

Ronnie James DIO had an amazing gift and talent. What a voice and charisma on stage! DIO was magnetic.'Lock Up The Wolves' is my favourite DIO studio album. I remember buying tickets to see DIO in support of 'Lock Up The Wolves' with Yngwie MALMSTEEN was the opening act. It was unfortunate that Warner Brothers didn't fully promote 'Lock Up The Wolves' given it is an excellent studio album.

Brent Alan Adam Landgrave, I’m with Poojock Mcplop. I love RJD, but this song isn’t even that good. In fact, I find it quite boring. Revisit “Holy Diver” and “Last in Line” and you’ll hear so much more spirit. (I’m biased toward Vivian Campbell, too.)

@@laurastrobel718 yeah. He worked closely with this charity called Children of the Night which rescues kids from sex trafficking. He wrote a song called Throwaway Children which he wanted to be another collaboration like Stars was back in the 80's. Sadly due to time and scheduling conflicts the collaboration never happened. So he recorded the track and put it on the Killing the Dragon album. It's my favorite track off of that record. Give it a listen. It will bring tears to your eyes.

Lock Up The Wolves is monter album! It was the soundtrack of my life in 1990 and to this day, is never far from me at any time. I know how to play every guitar note of this amazing song. I will post my own cover one of these days. It gives me so much joy listening to Dio!

Ian Gillan, is another one. And I'd also add Tony Martin and Jeff Scott Soto. There are a few out there with voices as strong as Dio, not saying that he wasn't great, he was definitely one of the all time greats, in the top tier, but there's more than just him and Bach up there.

One of the most kick ass music videos and jams ever. This is by far the best album Ronnie James Dio ever released. Simon Wright sounds better on this album with his drum playing than he ever did in AC/DC and the dude on the guitar is amazing. Other favourite songs on this album are "Wild One" love that music video too and "Walk On Water" to name a couple. RIP Dio. Your music will live on forever. My brother Iain introduced me to this band back round about the end of the 90s when I was 16. 😎 I always thought Holy Diver sounded similar to Eye Of The Tiger.

Your opinions may be worth something in your big brain, but you have no say in anything objective about Dio and the state of music development in the 80s and 90s. You were still growing up.
LOCK UP THE WOLVES was an attempt by Dio's camp to grab ahold of the hair metal binge that wracked the rock movement in the mid-to-late 80s. And it was not a good look or sound for Dio. He relinquished his medieval branding, his mythical lyrics - and his wizard sleeves! When he eventually gravitated back toward that ethos (with Strange Highways and Dehumanizer and the band Heaven & Hell) he was back in his element and his forte.
The recent doc/tribute DIO: DREAMERS NEVER DIE (Mar '22) completely ignored this short period in Ronnie's life, where he (in his own words!) "lost his way."
I won't insult you by saying "Run along and go play with your toys," but I'm thinking it real hard....

@@jondunmore4268 - Give me a break! Artists like to experiment with different sounds and styles of music! This was definitely not poison, hair-metal junk and glam rock by any means! The album was a slowed down, more polished sound and I love this album to be honest and my favorite Dio Album! It might be true that they were trying to grab a hold of something different at the time that was going on, but this is not hair metal crap! Bands experiment with different styles, sounds, and ideas! A band doing the same thing over and over is just boring! Does every Metallica album sound the same or for most bands for that matter? Of course not! Almost every Metallica is a different sound and Megadeth and so on...
