We just redid my kids car with all of that.. we washed it all off with soap and water first then sanded with 100 grit and then primed it wiped it with 91% rubbing alcohol and painted it with the vinyl paint and this stuff works amazing but definitely thank you for spraying the headliner the exact way I was hoping I could lol you gave me hope!!!
Just take out the headliner and paint it with emultion using a scrubbing brush and tooth brush. Also before spraying the pillar plastic use a 120 grit sand paper then spray it. Test it first on the back of plastic and when dry scrape it if it doesnt peel. Jobs a gooden. Plus looks best not touching the sunvisors etc just paint the edge trim. Goodluck
You sure love emphasizing that you have a BMW, but you take such little pride in ownership that you A) Let it go to shit, then B) Go ghetto fabulous with the repair.
I would have taken the headliner out completely, then it’s impossible to miss something and just easier than doing it inside the car, not that much work getting it out of the car
It's hard to believe this paint has doubled in price since you made this video and mentioned it was $8 bucks a can.. Great video,, I have a older Volvo XC 90 that needs a new headliner installed. I was gonna rip out the old sagging headliner and paint the plastic/cardboard shell that the headliner fabric normally attaches too black like you did this car.
Go to Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. They sell headliner fabric. Black, Gray, or tan. Purchase 3M headliner spray adhesive. Drop the headliner, bring it out back of your car. Remove old nasty headliner. Then use a paint roller on a stick to help adhesive stick.
Have made attempts to pull out headliner, say screw it n cover from inside..couldn't do comfortably..so..in morning I'm scraping splotchy foam leftovers off, scrubbing fiberglass n painting..I'm done..prob only have van another year but I live in it so try to keep it decent..also older n disabled n nothing is easy anymore..
Did the fabric ever come off of the foam after you painted it? I want to do the same thing in my car my headliner fabric is sagging badly, and ripped to bits. Under that is a foam layer.. I'm trying to figure out if it would be better to rip the fabric off and then take the phone off with the wire brush and then just use paint. Though I've heard taking that phone off is a horrible mess. But tbh I'm Really trying to come up with something unique. I've got some really flexible wood panels I'm just thinking about maybe replacing the interior with wood lol. But then at the end of all of my ideas I come to the fact that the car was only $50 and that I probably shouldn't be investing money or time into something that could break down and catch on fire at any given second😅
@@BuddysDIY i came across your thread, and iam impressed with your work, i have a 2005 645 bmw, my interior/ dash door trim is a charcoal dark grey , headliner is a light grey, with black leather seats, what color do you recommend it to be spray painted ? Black or charco grey...and what color did you painted your headliner?
i already took my headliner out cause i tried to use adhesive spray and a new fabric.... spraying will be soo much easier since i have everything apart
You and your ex girlfriend threw paint at each other?
I am legit stupefied right now I can't believe how great that looks I would have never thought
Thank you for the video!! You did an awesome job!! Looks great , I’ve been debating on doing it myself just nervous 😬

Hey thanks so much man this is an easy way to do it without removing the headliner!
Yes sir! Glad you liked the vid!

Lol go to the dealer then my guy 🤣
Tha k you just the video I needed , one without full removal
How does it feel does it feel like it's painted like hard as a rock or does it still have that fabric smoothness to it
still has fabric smoothness but it doesnt really come out a nice black colour as people say it does.
Ight! It's official, I'm painting my headliner thanks to you!
Where's the part where to state which paint it is?
I would have taken the headliner out completely, then it’s impossible to miss something and just easier than doing it inside the car, not that much work getting it out of the car
does it smell long after u painted?
I got inspired by this and holy shit my car looks cleaner now
Was just about to say if you used primer it probably would have fixed the splotchy parts you mentioned, and you mentioned it right at the end.

Everything has doubled in price lol

Hi. I noticed that in the video too and I thought the same thing. Crazy how fast things have gone up.

As soon as you mentioned having a Corolla you're gonna work on - i had to subscribe. Glad i stumbled on this video!!
So does it smell like spray paint inside? Great video.
It went away alot quicker than I thought. It's a strong smell out the can. But in 24 hours it was like 90% gone 48 hours 100% gone.

does it have a smell?
How was the smell???
Not bad at all. Went away 90% in a few hours and went away 100% in two days.
So now in 2024 how has it held up? Still looking good?
I use this video every day, thank you
Great to hear!
Good video str8 to the point and informative 👍🏻
Thanks! That's going to be my goal for every video on this channel. No 5 min Intro!
plastic parts needed to be treated first.. the paint will come out on them
Its really easy to just change the headliner took me an hour and a half. Its a lot faster with a drill wire brush
Solid! I had no idea you could even paint that part of the car.
Yeah! And it's that easy!
did you use fabric paint? or just regular?
Man...go ahead and order some fabric
If the car wasent 11 years old and 140k miles I would have! For 20 bucks you can't beat the result!
u dont gotta clean it first?
How does it look now?
As good as day one
Nice dude
Looks so much better black!
I think so too:)
🤙
💪
You might have just saved me 300 great job
did you ever do it? how did it go?
How did you paint the sunroof pannel?
If you have a bmw I have video I it!! It's called bmw sunroof healiner fix I Believe
What did you use to wrap up the inside?
Hey man just some regular plastic wrap!
With the amount of work invested your better off doing it right. Re skin it. I can see it's already sagging in some spots.
It was always sagging brother. It's a 13 year old car that been getting beat up by the florida sunnits whole life
what liner did you use to cover the other parts of your car? and where did you get it?
Just some regular painters tape from home Depot!
It looks like a really thin drop cloth that he held in place with painters tape/masking tape.
