Had problems with these chuffing with black death on a sprinter found that unless you replace the clamp bolt they dont last longer than 12 months before leaking again also disregard the specified torque setting and use your experienced feel to tighten. There a total pig to remove when there siezed as you cant use a puller and cant lever against the plastic rocker cover. Thanks for the video
Hi mate yes some manufacturers do recommend replacing the bolt and also the bracketAnd some even have an updated version depending on I've been doing this for a long time never once have I had an issue with not using a torque wrench on these particular bolts
Great video! I have a w212 3litre diesel on 2010. Done 155,000 miles. I’m not a mechanic. How many injectors are there, 6? Also is there an easy way of knowing if any of mine are blowing?
Another interesting video Leon . Sorry, maybe daft question, do you have to block the injector holes before cleaning the seats to stop any debris dropping down ?
Some kits come with small plugs that blank off the injector tip holes but personally I don't like that type and prefer the type of cutter sockets Leon was using that extend into the hole below the injector seat. As Leon said, add a small amount of grease to the cutting socket surface and the swarf gets caught in the grease. You are only taking a very, very thin layer off the seat so light pressure on the tool and only a few turns is necessary. If you have 'shop' air blow out the injector bores but nothing major usually falls in if you use grease and are careful. Another tip is to clean out the injector bolt threaded holes if enclosed, especially if there is oil contamination as proper torquing on some models is essential and trapped oil affects the torque applied. Saved a few common rail engines from the "black death" when injector seals have been leaking.
I had my injectors done at Mercedes last month and it purrs nicely. That is twice in 230k kilometers. Still on the original injectors. If the car is in the same condition in 5 years, I'll probably install new ones or at least a rebuild kit and the labor.
Hi, do you use flat cutter or angle cutter?

@bodgit and leggit garage wouldn,t this need new injectors at this age/mileage?
