What should be done to remove the chain from the derailleur? 1. Break a chain link or 2. Remove the jockey wheels. Because I lack the right tools, it's option 2 for me and seeing you do same here, I was wondering what's supposed to be done. The purpose though wasn't defeated. I'd like to know if 1. The derailleur is harder to shift. 2. The derailleur will work with 7 speed systems. 3. A barrel adjuster can be added. Fantastic work. Thanks! 😅
Mate, you know you can disassemble the main derailleur pivot spring, right? You barely disassembled anything on the derailleur. After the pulleys, the closed pivot is the most important part to actually clean and relube after many years of collecting dirt and drying out.
Why do people who create videos think they need to spend the extra time to put stupid music as a background? It would be much more useful if they just talked and said what they were doing. Silence would be better than the music.
Nice vid, but you did not service the cage spring, I did that before, but first time the bolt was stuck so I had to do it the wrong way to remove the cage, but I managed to do it without hurting my self, but second time I did it the bolt was loose, so I could actually do it properly, but it eventually wore out so I stripped it for usable parts. I did the same with a slx 10spd, sold the parts, so I don't throw away parts, some might use get some use of it, and I ear back some money.👌
Very therapeutic RD-M772 derailleur strip-down, clean and rebuild. However, IMMENSE overkill on the cleaning approach - almost everything shown here can be achieved with CIF Mousse and an old toothbrush. Also what is the point off removing the circlip at the beginning of the video? That simply keeps a pivot bolt attached. And worrying that you never see it being refitted!
Trabalho incrível ! Gostei muito da técnica mesmo para um câmbio que não que muito componentes para manutenção ,deu uma vida nova a ele ! Ganhou mais um seguidor
I believe this would be an upgrade over the 9 speed Deore 510 derailleur. Have a 2005 Fuji Monterey, with the same setup. Considering upgrading to this.
Thanks for excellent all the time! I have one question about derailleur adjustment please With both Shimano XT and SRAM X01 derailleur, whenever switching from small cog to larger cogs on up hill while riding on single track and I need quickly change to larger cog. It missed the gear from cog 4/5, skipped and jumped back down to cog 2/3. It caused loosing momentum and I have to stopped suddenly. Could you please advise how to solve this problem. Thanks
ok for lower (tension) wheels, but be avoid noname and chinaname jockey wheels from aliexpress - very bad bearings and bearing seals. guide (top) wheels - only original shimano have a "centurion" tech.
This reminded me of my own road derailleur, all tho the tension pulley screw is stripped, my chain doesnt have a quick link and i dont have a chain tool so i cant really detail it properly. Sad life a bit
I like how you work!respect from Bucharest România 🇧🇪
Thanks! I have an identical xt, it was a huge mess, just like yours, but now, its perfectly clean.👌😀
You can put a description of what are you using :)))

Derailleur crud is amongst the worst but makes the job all the more rewarding.
3:30 are you cleaning those in petrol?
The derailure was a mess? or to clean it?

I know it is kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream new series online?
@Wallace Torin thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it !
@Rodney Gerald happy to help xD
@@rodneygerald126 wtf?! Weirdo
Why didn`t you remove the outer plate? The spring and P-Axle inside the P-knuckle must have solvent and water in it no?
Mesmerising
Ei You can give subtitles to clarify the liquid you are using
Lose the music, add a description of what your doing.

@@timgross7671 maybe because it makes the video more universal, and easy to understand for non-English people.

Generally a good video, but you failed to service the lower jockey wheel bearings. Why was that?
What grease/lube did you apply to the body? Top videos as usual.

Nice work
Wow that was dirty as hell. Btw the second music is pretty good
What was the brown fluid you used to clean the parts? I assume it's kinda harsh since it seems like it's been reused
Coca cola maybe
So, after cleaning the derailleur with all rigorous methods, mount in the rear hanger, go for a ride, and this get dirty again 🙈 😂
Guys how it is with ceramic bearing? They are with out oil/grease as factory new. Should they run dry on with oil ?
Do it on nice wood surface. Shows priorities :)
Are the Sora components (shifters) compatible with this rear derailleur?
Yes, 9speed shimano road shifters are compatible with 9speed mtb shimano parts.
is it ok or better to replace the deraileur wheels with aluminum wheels with bearings?
ok for lower (tension) wheels, but be avoid noname and chinaname jockey wheels from aliexpress - very bad bearings and bearing seals. guide (top) wheels - only original shimano have a "centurion" tech.
Lower XT "wheel" have integrated bearing.
These parts are so clean, you can make a surgery with them!
Paraffin works well as a parts or chain cleaner
man0z you’ll have to fit a new gear cable
@man0z A high quality gear cable is like 3 USD from a wholesale bikestore.
@man0z Hmm that goes for 6.40 USD worth of local currency here. I used the cheaper Jagwires so far, I might try this one if you like it so much :D
F the vid what's the background song?
Tak ogladam i sie zastawnawie czemu nie odkreciłes wszystkiego z tej przerzutki.. Hmmmm
👍👍👍
I have XT M760 rear mech with weak spring so I want upgrade XT M772 know anyone will have them? Someone must have them old stock
Just use degreaser or fuel and white spirits.
Музыку отлично подобрал

Way more relaxing than that ASMR crap.

You dont need to detail the chain. If it is really dirty use a chain scrubber
Chain tool, quick links and replacement jockey wheels are all cheap online
thats a lot of work for something that ill get all dirty again in the next ride. worth for road, for mtb meh
Worth doing once a year after winter, not every time it gets really dirty in my opinion
I need song names. 😍
closure (what i want ) by snake city
I think fluids such as oils are harmful for ball bearing or grease. isn't it?🤔
He left the sealed bearing wheel out during the cleaning process.
No
@@ReindeerBork but outer plate axis and parallelogram axes!? I think its bad ideas - insert whole derailleur into any fluid (water, gasoline)
