I'm running the yellow spring on stock boost, I have the green spring (5-15psi) to replace it, just need to find some time to install it. But if you're running STOCK boost like i am on my Mk6 they recommend the correct preload which is a green spring. If you're using the yellow spring which is set for (15-23psi) on stock boost, which maxes around 9psi and settles at 6psi, it may cause too much strain or pressure to open the valve resulting in some back pressure in the turbo. With the yellow spring currently in, I still get the high pitch whistle, but with the correct preload spring (green), I should receive that high whistle with less boost pressure and less RPMs to make it blow off properly. Green - 5-15 PSI Yellow - 15-23 PSI Blue - 23-30 PSI Red - 30 + PSI
A GLI is a version of the Jetta. I drive a GTI and its 100% a MK7. The MK7 started in 2015 and they had a facelift version the MK7.5 come out in either 2018 or 2019. Not sure if you are from another country but I am pretty sure its the same for all GTIs during that time period.
Hi i just did my installation on my mk7 gti, i am just feeling the boost release sound is not coming on every shift, my car is automatic is that making any difference?
I dont have an automatic so I wouldn't know. It will depend on where its shifting...if you're not up in the boost it's not going to make a noise. I'd check all your lines and if you dont have a check engine light I would assume its installed properly.
@@harishthilak then I'd try to pay attention to where you are in the rpms when it goes off. I'm guessing you wont hear it at low rpm shifts because your not really building boost. But if you stomp on it and it shifts above 5k and you dont hear it then I think you might have an issue.
@@TeddyWestside412 hi i just checked all the lines its all correct and fixed properly. The dsg is the reason i suppose, only when you take your foot off the accel pedal the boost release sound is coming. Is there any work around for that?
@@harishthilak not really that I can think of. Just got my 2019 GTI And looking to put a Bov pretty soon . Just don’t want it to void my warranty or loose power . Any comments , pointers or concerns I should know before purchasing . Thanks
nope no need for a tune for just an intake or a bov......although these cars are a whole different animal when you get them tuned so i suggest doing that maybe first. That is def the best bang for you buck if you want some more power to have fun with. intake doesnt do much other than look nice and maybe some more intake noise. bov is just for some turbo noises as well...not much performance added with a bov. so it depends on what you are after everyones builds are different.

Emanuel Vegaaviles what type of sound are you hearing. Have you seen the sound clips video I made? I show a few different sounds that I get out of mine.
Did you have any check engine light with that valve, i'm in France , i have a mk7 gti dsg 6 , with stage 1 and blow off forge ( black one ) installed, all done by famous BR PERFORMANCE. I have orange check engine light, they tell me it's because the blow off valve installed, i told them : how many GTi with blow off forge are circulating, a lot i think.
Douglas Duch idk why the BOV would give you a check engine light. I have never had a check engine light with any of my mods so far. The MK7 should have a MAP and not a MAF so you shouldn't have gotten a light from the valve. Is there a code that its throwing for you?
Douglas Duch Hey what’s up I have a mk7 dsg also and have been wanting to get a bov. Did you ever get it figures out? How is the power difference on stage 1 with dsg? Any clutch problems?
TeddyWestside412 So, i emailed Forge and they are telling me that this is impossible to have check engine, these BOV have been tested a lot before release, on every GTi or R and no CEL, they told me it must be the solenoid that has a default, they are sending me a new one, i'll keep you posted 😉😎
Daniel Warren Every engine is different, i went to see a professional of course, in stage 1 mine got 100 hp more and 110 of tork. Stock : 220 hp and 350 Nm Stage 1 : 320 hp and 456 Nm The turbo is what you should be concerned the most, they are fragile on the first version of the the 2013 Gti, mine is 2015, Turbo's can also break without doing stages. That's why i want to install a BOV, it's better for the turbo because there is no back pressure, it's what have been reading from pros on the net. Stock version is a diverter valve that when you take your feet of the throttle, it recirculate the unused compressed air back into the intake, making the turbo going from one way to an other really quickly and can affect it. Anyway stage 1 is just amazing, having that much power, it's a all different car, so much fun, clutches should not be a problem. If you drive crazy all the time, stock or with stage 1 you could break not only the gear box but other things. 2.0 tsi are made to get 440 hp with stage 4, with the adding of new clutches and turbo of course but no many cars can go with stage 4. So a simple stage 1, if you drive crazy just when needed 😁, you are all good, but if you are an agressive driver all the time, then don't do it.
Douglas Duch yeah I'm very interested in what's going on. I agree with them theres really no way for the BOV to cause the light but if the solenoid is bad and not communicating with the car ECU that could make sense. Car is probably saying hey this sensor isn't plugged in since you unplug it from the car and plug it into the BOV.
If you're stock get a stage 1 tune first. Best bang for your buck and requires no other mods. If money is not really an issues get the tune and the bov.
