After one year you are probably one of few people who really play that song properly. Many video tutorials show that song played quite bad, they lack funky. Sometime seem that people don't have the sense of groove. Great performance. You are a musician!
This is by far the best tutorial I have seen to this song, the only one I’ve seen to even mention the fact that the song is double tracked. You get it dude, kudos and thank you! You’ve been a great help!
Absolutely excellent tutorial. I can't read music either and this made perfect sense to me. I'd been playing it 'wrong' for years, and now it sounds much funkier (when I can get it right). Thanks!
"i don't know what i'm talking about musicaly" ensures that your focus is where it shoud be. learning and then letting loose of those concepts and heaving fun with rhythms is the hardest lesson for me to learn
So cool that you made time for this! I was one of the one's asking for a tutorial, since you really nailed the feel of the song. Thanks for laying it out for us. Looking forward to getting it down.
Dude you're back! So glad to see you again. I was on your channel yesterday hoping you were OK. Love your videos cant wait to see more. You, Doctor Mix, and Alex Ball always make my day better.
My dog, you just earned yourself a sub based only off of this video and the fact that you described the groove by saying "you wanna give it that clavinet kinda... you wanna spank it"
Dear Adam, Those are NOT trills, they're "grace" notes. A grace note is a SINGLE example of playing a note in very quick succession before the downbeat note. Trills are a series of notes between 2 pitches anywhere from 6 pairs to as many as 40 or more. A grace note is a "one time" pitch. A trill is the same 2 notes in succession for as much as 10 seconds long. Watch the "Learn To Play Klezmer Clarinet/Grace Notes and Trills part 4" video. That may help with this one simple musical difference.
Adam Borseti, I don't know. Until I read your most recent reply I had never heard the term "slip notes" (and I started playing music to any degree more than 40 years ago when I was younger than 16).
You got that funk feel and that's what matters. I didn't understand how you were getting the WAH added. Do you have a pedal or is it some auto-Wah effect?
dude you really got the groove down in that left hand, woof that's gonna take some practice to coordinate with the grace notes in the right hand chords but good stuff!
Your just an awesome musician! Period! Funny how most of the greatest musicians who have ever lived had no time for music theory? Who needs theory when you have ears that hear and feel? Excellent tutorial!
Thanks! Man, I just play what I feel like playing! Maybe I should do more tutorials, we'll see if people start commenting about how I'm a cocksucker for teaching what I don't truly know. :)
hey again adam, i’ve watched this like 5 times this week, you have such a nice interpretation of this song - any chance you could do a superstition riff tutorial? maybe briefly talking about two or more of the clav parts? :))
very helpful, i’m not a big fan of those super formal tutorials on youtube that are usually transposed and are the absolute basics. whereas you’re covering all bases here, all the little noticeable parts that make the song are here in this tutorial. plus the addition of the word ‘bitchin’ really made my day.
@@alexwilliams7243 Well, I'll see what I can do, but Superstition is hard even for me to play with all the little details. It makes for a challenging exercise in hand coordination. If I think I can do it without making too many mistakes, I will. Stay tuned, brotato.
Sometimes you find them here on UA-cam by searching for say... "Stevie Wonder isolated drums" or whatever. They often get removed by UA-cam for copyright, but generally speaking, the majority of these multi track files can come from the video game "Rock Band".
Thanks, man! Yes, this was the Clavinet V, but the wah effect was from an old freebie plug in called "Classic Auto Filter" because the wah effect built in to the Clavinet V doesn't have enough range for my tastes.
You'll need the sound of a Hohner Clavinet with an auto-wah effect. I use the Arturia Clavinet V which has a built-in wah effect. Use the A, and C pickups for the nasal tone.

Wow dude, this isn’t only helpful for this song. That stuff actually applies to this whole style of music. Thanks man. 🙌🏻
No problem! 😉
Absolutely excellent tutorial. I can't read music either and this made perfect sense to me. I'd been playing it 'wrong' for years, and now it sounds much funkier (when I can get it right). Thanks!
Wow! You nail it - watching over and over to copy your groove
Your backing track is so f*cking good and funky! That moog bass holy shit!! You're an amazing musician, keep it going!

man this is so on point you’re awesome

Aww, thanks! Yeah, I've been on a bit of a hiatus for a while, but I definitely want to start making videos again!
It’s was definitely HELPFUL. Thanks!
I didn't think it was possible to play this with two hands. Well done.
Extremely helpful! Super easy to get the nuance of the parts from this video.
Good video, great teaching. Thanks alot Adam!
Holy funk, sounds awesome! Thanks!
Brilliant lesson. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Sounds great

"Probably wasn't helpful"? Are you kidding, mate? Off to find the clavinet setting on my Roland piano right now. Thanks for a boss tutorial.
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. You just helped me out. Very nice explaining 🙂
You probably play the best higher ground than anybody ( fantastic )
“This isn’t as hard a song as you might think to play...” when you’ve got two good eyes at least.
Don't worry, man; once you get it, you'll be able to do it blind.

@@r5t6y12 Are they also known as "slip notes" like Floyd Cramer's "Last Date"? Great information, thank you!
Adam Borseti, I don't know. Until I read your most recent reply I had never heard the term "slip notes" (and I started playing music to any degree more than 40 years ago when I was younger than 16).
Excellent! Let's go ahead and put that on the list of songs over my head to play! Lol
This has helped me out so much. Thanks man!
Good!
Thanks you are the man

In all seriousness though, great tutorial man!
solid. your ending comments are hilarious
you are a funky dude
I try! 😉
Man this is GROOOOVY !!!
Fab! 👍

@@AdamBorseti Very helpful. Thank you!
Any idea where one would find multitracks for stevie wonder songs like this?

Nice tutorial man! I must ask, where did you get the clav sound? More importantly the wah effect. Im thinking of getting of Clavinet V but not sure
Thanks, man! Yes, this was the Clavinet V, but the wah effect was from an old freebie plug in called "Classic Auto Filter" because the wah effect built in to the Clavinet V doesn't have enough range for my tastes.
Oh word man thank ya! What are your settings on the auto filter?
What sound is used

hi adam! great tutorial. what vst/plugin are you using for the sound? :)
Hey Alex! Thanks for watching! I use the Arturia Clavinet V and run it through a really old, but still unmatched free, auto-wah plug in.
Adam Borseti and which auto wah plugin would that be? ;)
It would be easier with a top view
Pretty impressive for someone that don’t read music
