    Billy Preston's famous Outa Space transcribed! Hope you get some funky clav riffs out of it, cuz thats the main point of the video anyway. Billy Preston was just riffing and calling out chord names when the track was recorded so, its not like he was playing something that was meticulously worked out before hand. Check out my channel for more tutorials for Old school and New school funk/Soul/RnB and subscribe if you like what you hear!

    Thats amazing. I wish I lived in an era where I could jam out to radio hits and feel 110% great about doing so. music today can be catchy, but it just doesnt satisfy the soul the same way music used to.

    The 1st time I ever heard a D7 Clavinet back in 71. Just the funkiest song ever, and nothing in my entire library opens the way this song does. Kudos to BP. Thanks for the tutorial.

      El inicio del Electro Funk / Steve W. (desligado del Funk Clásico).
      El Superstición de Steve W. con el maestro de la electrónica M. Cecil y el Sintetizador T.O.N.T.O le dio más fuerza al genero.

    VERY good tutorial !
    I really enjoyed it when you said @ 8:25 "...just make sure that... when you are not playing something with your right hand, play something with your left hand" or something to that effect. When I was learning some Funk keyboard stuff, that's what I stumbled upon. But to hear a keyboard player say it gets the student up and running immediately, if the student doesn't get too hung up on what specific individual notes to play and when.

    yeah it depends what you are looking for. If you like weighted keys then the SV-1 is better. I like the weighted action on the SV-1 better than the weighted action of the nord. But I realized after I bought the SV-1 that I wanted nonweighted keys so I could play the organ/clav sounds as they were meant to be played haha

    I am very glad I found your channel and this video especially. Very challenging for me to learn to play this. I will probably have to watch thousands of times to get anywhere close to sounding decent. Thanks for making this, it sounds amazing!!!

  • @spencergellsworth
    @spencergellsworth 5 років тому +5

    I don't know what's more impressive, the tutorial or the fact that you did this on weighted keys!
    Which pickup register is this on? I am trying to learn on this on a Crumar Mojo and figure out the settings.

  • @TheNaekid
    @TheNaekid  12 років тому +3

    Thank you!! Its an SV-!, and the wah is onboard (using a volume pedal to control it). Its awesome in every way except that the Nord has better piano and a slightly cleaner and better E Piano sound (and better B3, but noone makes a good B3 so whatever haha). SV-1 kills the nord in other areas though.

    YOur tutorials are outstanding. I like that you take the harder keyboard material and break it all down into understandable riffs. There's plenty of Journey tutorials out there youtube, coldplay, Beatles stuff ---all easy, intermediate level. But u like to do tutorials on the challenging stuff. There are 2 keyboard tunes I would like u to tutorial if u have the time -- short, bluesy piano intro to "Can't Get Next To You" by the Temps. Note-for-note organ solo for Green-eyed Lady by Sugarloaf!

    yeah, one reason i went with the SV-1 is I also have another keyboard that has non-weighted keys that I use for organ and synth type sounds. The Nord seemed like it had some cool B-3 type sounds on it, better than the SV-1, for sure.
