In Korea, we call this plant (kgen-neep) and we wrap it up with the rice, meat, hot pepper paste and whatever else....super good. I'm so happy that there are so many Asian markets like H-MART.
I cant belive i found a large patch of them in the woods today. I will defenetly be transporting some to my garden after watching this video. Thanks hope you make more.
So glad I found your channel, I planted both the purple and green perilla last year without rooting it in water first. I had some luck but it was hit or miss what grew in the garden. Thanks!
So do you just take the cuttings and plant it in soil without rooting them in water first? I’m trying to root it in water for about 10 days now and it’s not rooting.
Christy Hatch Hi! I did root them in water first and I kept them in there for 2-3 weeks. I probably had 40 cuttings and they all rooted, some of them more than others, but after transferring them to soil, they are thriving and blooming well.
I just discovered a Hong Kong Supermarket right here in NYC's Chinatown. I love the little stores but I'm a big guy so it's nice to have room to move when shopping.
great video, i just bought a plant fom the wal'mart garden section. little pot had 5 seperate plants in it took home and seperated them into seperate pots :) once they grow il root more, havent eaten any yet but i'll eat most anything loll
Oh wow. I wish they sold them with stems in New Zealand. It costs $5 for ten leaves! So I ordered some seed online and I'm going to grow my own. It's so delicious. Thanks for your video. It kind of looks like salvia divinorum....
1kaaa heard that you're supposed to soak the seed for 24 hrs and just pour the seeds along with water onto the soil and press down on it a little cause the seeds need light to germinate
I tried this. It took over a month for roots to form. I had given up and was slowly harvesting and using the leaves when my daughter noticed that roots had grown.
Hello, i use shiso herbs quite often for Vietnamese food :) thanks for sharing, trying to recycle and grow it now...but can I using hydro corn instead of soil!? Or can i apply same method from your video for growing lettuce in plastic cup and hydroponic water!?
How are the leaves typically eaten in dishes? Also, thanks for the tips. I have some Thai basil I'm propagating, but I need to put less water and trim the bottom like you did
I went and bought tia to from the market. Stem looks healthy and stalky. Cut it at a 45 degree angle, put in water for about 10 days now and it’s not rooting. Even put it on the window sill where it gets morning sun. What did I do wrong?
If you have it, use it. If you don't have it, there is no need to buy it. I think they work better when propagating directly in soil, which I hardly do.
I bought some perilla stems and propagated them as told in ur video. But about 2 hours later, they kinda start drooping. What did i do wrong? I place them indoors, in shade with indirect sunlight, room is comfortably warm but not hot. Is it doomed already? :(
Anise Salazar did they perk up? It sounds like they were just going through shock and if they didn't start to rot they should have perked up, otherwise sometimes they just don't have the energy left to go through the process.

You're the man! About to try this. Tried from seed 2-3 times, but no luck :( Finally ready to try cuttings
Thanks, I'll see if my Hong Kong Market has fresh next time I'm near it.

Ooh. Hope to see the growth process on these leaves. I'm trying to grow Korean perilla by seed, but none have sprouted.

Thank you. I am currently looking for a new camera, so I will do that in the future.

I like to eat them raw, like roll up in spring rolls.

Hey Khang! Question: what is your take on rooting hormone to speed up the propagation process?

I have a few little circle on my paper plant but I dont know if there flower
Very informative videos! Do you have an email address I could send some photos to? I would love to get your opinion on my reapers
Where in the world can I find some? I am in north eastern United States.

I do have a lot in my fields i like the aroma mint but i dont eat it though
D: what? send them to me haha we put rice, meat, chilli paste, roll it up and eat it
Would it grow well in hydroponics later?
Yes, they will do well in hydroponics.
Thanks so much! Your videos help me a lot. My lemon basil is doing very well in hydroponics. Keep up with your good work!
What does shiso taste like and how do you prepare it?
The leaf has almost the same texture as mint, and smell a little minty.
Patrice's Projects in korean barbecue, this is use to wrap the barbecue and eat it
so how do you like to use your Shiso?
Use it to garnish your dish, put them in tea or salad.
Hahaha they found out since people started rooting now they are selling the leaves without the stems. Bugger!
