I have always been able to crochet Granny Squares, but I just could not crochet anything from a line of chains - until maybe 2 years ago, when I found my first Hooked by Robin tutorial. When I decided to try crocheting a scarf whilst watching one of Robin's tutorials, I couldnt believe how easy it was! Thank you, Robin! Im now just a few inches away from completing my very first crocheted shawl, and have recently started the back of my very first cardigan! ❤

Hi Dianne! Thank you and I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here: www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet-stitch-conversions 😃🧶
I love how you do your tutorials. You are so clear on every step. You make it easy to follow. Thank you especially for this tutorial. I've wanted to make a C2C granny for a long time . 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

I fought making my c2c edges look right the way I made all my blankets. I made all the squares for a baby blanket in one day I'm blown away how simple the way is. I'm sitting here tonight adding border color and connecting it all together.

Thank you, Robin. The last three years I've been crocheting and donating blankets to Project Linus. I made a few C2C and ripple blankets. This one is a game changer for me. Halfway through my first, using 4 skeins of bulky yarn and a sz 8mm hook it goes super fast. I knew when I finished the 2nd skein it was time to decrease. If it doesn't turn out as big as I need, I will l add the cute border. I love how square this is, too. Thanks again!
This has become my favorite way to make anything square or rectangle. The stitches are so pretty. Especially when using self striping yarn. I'm working on making a bunch of 9" granny squares using Lion Brand Landscapes yarn of different colors and will assemble them when I have enough. And the border! So easy! I made a blanket for my granddaughter and just last night added the border. It looks awesome so far. I have also ordered some ice yarn because of this video. Thanks Robin.

Yes, clear and gentle way of teaching helps so much. Concise and easy to follow. I learned so much in so short a time. I want more of your teaching. And your yarns are beautiful. Too bad I'm in the US. Shipping is prohibitive.
I love your tutorials! Not sure which I'm going to try first, they are all wonderful. I'm considering doing a "patchwork" blanket with all different techniques. Thank you for these inspiring videos. Bless!
That’s very interesting stitches and smart as well ! Loved your works . I will have to try to make a shawl . The yarn is very beautiful! Thank you Robin of your amazing tutorial !!! Stay healthy !

I just restarted crocheting after a few years and I have always had trouble with the granny squares. After watching your video, I have learned a new way to do a granny square and I found this to be much easier. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Looking forward to learning more from you.
another way to get a square corner on the last row. chain three, start the first double crochet in the cluster leave the loop on the hook, do the same for the second and third double crochets so you have 4 loops on the hook. pull through all four loops and draw the 3 double crochets together. end as usual with an extended double crochet. this gave me a square corner. i hope this helps.
@@HookedbyRobin It was a two way street. I also learned something new from you as well. After crocheting for over 50 years, it is great when I can sink my teeth into a new pattern.
Robin, thank you for doing a full granny square. I have been scared to do granny squares but after this, I am going to try and I think it will go just fine.
I love to watch your tutorials you make everything look so easy. You are great at explaining just what you were doing. I have started making my granny squares to make a blanket.
After I watched your tutorial, I flogged my c2c that was almost halfway, cause it looked a bit funny!! I started all over with your method and Whalla!! there you go! It is also my first c2c!! What will we all do without all your great tutorials !! Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️🥰🧶🧣🌺🇿🇦

You’re welcome! I’ve been enjoying a lot of your videos. I do have a question! I have finished a lot of granny squares but hindsight didn’t kick in and I did them all in varying sizes lol😅 I was just practicing but they turned out great thanks to you. I was wondering which method I should use to join them to make a blanket. I have my measurements down but I’m in a faff over which method to use. Thanks again
I tried this granny square before but didn't like the irregular sides on the decreases. Your method solved it and it looks perfect! The extended double crochet is just pure genius, thank you!
Thanks so very much for this tutorial! ❤ You make it so clear .😊 I am wondering what yarn you used for this project, it is beautiful. Thank you for sharing you time and your talent! 😊
@@HookedbyRobin Oh wow, and there was me thinking it was cygnet boho spirit lol. This is beautiful too, I love love LOVE variegated wool. I'm always looking for something that can have a stained glass look, so the rainbow wool with the black border really called to me. In all honesty something about granny squares end up looking wrong to me, (and I just figured I was making them wrong somehow) I guess that's what you meant when you said that without the extended double crochet the sides tend to pull. I usually gravitate to more patterned squares (that end up being more time consuming) rather than doing the base stitch but after seeing this I am definitely going to try again. It's amazing that it's such a simple fix. Thank you 🖤💜
I just started doing c2c a couple of weeks ago.I’m really enjoying it so far.I was happy to see how easy you have made it with the granny stitch.Thank you 🙂
I watch way too many videos and never make the project. This video I found a few weeks ago and I’m checking back to confirm how you did the border. I feel accomplished!
How absolutely lovely .I am a knitter, however crochet is much more portable . Love your variety . You are delightful to listen to . Looking forward to future projects
Miss Robin!! I'm putting on a black border now of my blanket. I went crazy and used an entire skein (440m) of yarn for the width, then worked another back to the opposite corner. It's 46x46 granny stitches! This is my fourth project completed, and you make it so easy!! Thank you so much❤❤
I just want to say that I love doing the granny square this way. I will not be be doing them with the circle in the middle again. Thank you thank you so much. It makes doing a border effortlessly problematic. I love your colors that you use for this tutorial.
So glad I found this tutorial! I'm now making an afghan/blanket in the C2C granny pattern. I am hoping (and expecting) it will be the judge's favorite at next year's local county fair.

I was scared, my square looked like it was flaring. It actually turned out beautifully! I crochet super tightly, so if anyone else does too, this works best when you make your work a bit looser. Thank you!!
Yes, clear and gentle way of teaching helps so much. Concise and easy to follow. I learned so much in so short a time. I want more of your teaching. And your yarns are beautiful. Too bad I'm in the US. Shipping is prohibitive.
Thank you so much Nancy! 😃🥰
Your extended double crochet rocks! I love it🎈🎈🎈
I’ve watched and watched other C2C and could never find one that I understood till I saw yours. Thanks soo much
Agreed...I thought I was brain dead....I love Hooked by Robin
I love your tutorials! Not sure which I'm going to try first, they are all wonderful. I'm considering doing a "patchwork" blanket with all different techniques. Thank you for these inspiring videos. Bless!
That sounds a great idea Pat, that would be so fun too! 😃🧶
Your use of the variagated yarn has really helped me see how this comes together. Plus your slow steady pace. Thank you.
I’m so glad it helps Ellie!😃🤗
That’s very interesting stitches and smart as well ! Loved your works . I will have to try to make a shawl . The yarn is very beautiful! Thank you Robin of your amazing tutorial !!! Stay healthy !
I have been Leary of doing the corner to corner square. But after watching you it seems so simple to do. Thanks for doing this video.
I am so glad it helps Patricia - it can be a bit daunting but it isn't, promise! 😃🧶
I've learned so much from your videos I can watch how you do the first row and even before you get to the end of it I can go 'ah that's how the pattern works!' Thank you so much! I'd love to try this one after I finish the last blanket I've been working on... it looks like it'd be great for scraps lol I hate making a million granny squares tho so I'm looking forward to the joining one even tho I like how the border looks 😅
Robin your tutorial is excellent. I have been admiring this block, but I could not understand what others were doing. So excited I found your UA-cam. You speak slowly and pronounce your words beautifully. Much appreciated
I love doing Granny stitches so this tutorial is a joy to me and C2C is an added bonus!! The increase and decrease rows are explained and demonstrated so clearly! Thank you, Robin, for your excellent tutorials. Also love the border so I’ll be doing it!! Stay safe. Love & Hugs! 💕🤗💕
I’m already working on my blanket Robin! Love doing the C2C! I’m doing a white border too!! Many thanks for your wonderful tutorial! ♥️ Love & Hugs! 💕🤗💕
I've learned so much watching you! I've been crocheting about 40 yrs. now. You explain it so well! I'm excited to get started on new projects.
Amazing Cheryl, so happy to read this.😀🧶
Thank you Robin for this tutorial. I could never understand the extended DC. I love the way you explain the C2C method in this video. I love that color yarn you are using.
Thank you for your patient, gentle way of explaining and giving very clear instructions. My crochet is rusty but you have now inspired me to try this. Thank you
You're welcome Rhonda, I am so glad it inspired you!😀
Thank you so much for making this wonderful video, Robin! I just discovered you because you came up in my UA-cam suggestions. I have been looking for some kind of granny square to make that would be pretty easy that I can work on while I'm on vacation. I think the little squares will pack well in between the stuff in my luggage. I love your voice and love the way you explain everything so clearly. Thank you! I have subscribed to your channel so I can see more of your beautiful videos. You are an inspiration to me!
Thank you so much Betty! What a lovely comment to read 😊
I'm not a fan of traditional granny squares so I am LOVING this. Thanks for a great tutorial!!
Thank you so much Tina! 😃🤗
Gorgeous! What a great pattern. I just love it! Thanks so much for this tutorial!

This is very cool, you're a genius! I'm gonna use some of my yarn stash to make this.
It's a fab stash buster! 🥰
I just restarted crocheting after a few years and I have always had trouble with the granny squares. After watching your video, I have learned a new way to do a granny square and I found this to be much easier. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Looking forward to learning more from you.
I’m so glad the video helped Tara!😃🧶
another way to get a square corner on the last row. chain three, start the first double crochet in the cluster leave the loop on the hook, do the same for the second and third double crochets so you have 4 loops on the hook. pull through all four loops and draw the 3 double crochets together. end as usual with an extended double crochet. this gave me a square corner. i hope this helps.
Great tip thank you Richard! :D
Thank you Lynette, go for it - you can do it! 😃
Hi Robin, thank you I love this and will definitely go into my library of projects to make!!😊🧶
I love to watch your tutorials you make everything look so easy. You are great at explaining just what you were doing. I have started making my granny squares to make a blanket.
Thank you so much Sue, enjoy making your blanket.😃🧶
I LOVE all the rainbow yarn
I'm a sucker for a rainbow yarn! 🌈
@@HookedbyRobin btw, I only started crocheting last week and your tutorials have been instrumental in my education. Thank you!
That is fantastic Paula! Well done, I am so glad the video helped.🥰🧶
That’s pretty cool!! I have been doing a more “traditional “ c2c and at first was wondering why the stern wouldn’t work that way, but this is a whole different way of c2c. I’ll have to try this out! BTW 💜💜💜💜that color of yarn ! You always have such beautiful yarns for your tutorials. 😊
Autocorrect turned “pattern” into “stern”…sorry
Thank you Robin. I’ve just finished my perfect first square and I love it
Thank you so much, that’s so appreciated! 🥰
I have a bunch of projects going but, I am saving this tutorial for a future project thank you its beautiful
🥰🧶
Thank you so much for putting up this tutorial. You actually teach and is friendly for beginners, when you’re a beginner you need every step detailed so you don’t get confused, I really appreciate the way you teach. I can’t wait to check your other videos out
What a lovely comment! Thank you so much.😃🤗
You’re welcome!
I love this. It always amazes me, how you make fiddly bits so fun.
I have just the right yarn too. Thanks!
🥰 what a lovely compliment to receive! Thank you! X
I tried this granny square before but didn't like the irregular sides on the decreases. Your method solved it and it looks perfect! The extended double crochet is just pure genius, thank you!
🙌
Thanks so very much for this tutorial! ❤ You make it so clear .😊
I am wondering what yarn you used for this project, it is beautiful.
Thank you for sharing you time and your talent! 😊
Thank you so much Brenda! I used:
Ice Yarn Lana Bella with a 5mm Hook: www.iceyarns.com/git/681/lana-bella
Hope that helps.x 🤗

Oh wow, and there was me thinking it was cygnet boho spirit lol.
Thank you 🖤💜
I just started doing c2c a couple of weeks ago.I’m really enjoying it so far.I was happy to see how easy you have made it with the granny stitch.Thank you 🙂
You are so welcome, I am glad you are enjoying it!😀
Love this, still get a little confused with being a 'lefty' though. Thanks for sharing.
If you pop the url of this video into this website it will mirror flip it for you so it shows as left handed 😀 www.mirrorthevideo.com/
This tutorial is the best. C2C Granny Square is my new “go to”. Thank you so much!!
You’re so welcome Sarah!🥰🤗
Looking for the join I used on my sample squares? The tutorial is here 😀 ua-cam.com/video/W0-9A6ggtOk/v-deo.html
Hi, can you do a tutorial on how to make a pouch bag inspired by Mina's Twice, love ur vids btw.
I watch way too many videos and never make the project. This video I found a few weeks ago and I’m checking back to confirm how you did the border. I feel accomplished!
Well done Jennifer! 😃🧶
This is the easiest granny square pattern that I have seen. You made it simple and easy to follow. Looking forward to trying it out.
How absolutely lovely .I am a knitter, however crochet is much more portable .
Love your variety .
You are delightful to listen to .
Looking forward to future projects
Thank you so much Ella and a bit jealous, as I can't knit! 😂🧶
I have so enjoyed your clear demonisation of this crochet square, Very easy to follow and thank you so much for all your time and expertise. 🌻
Awwh, thank you so much Elizabeth!😃🧶
Miss Robin!! I'm putting on a black border now of my blanket. I went crazy and used an entire skein (440m) of yarn for the width, then worked another back to the opposite corner. It's 46x46 granny stitches!
This is my fourth project completed, and you make it so easy!!
Thank you so much❤❤
That sounds wonderful Jenn, I’m glad my videos have helped!😃🧶
I just want to say that I love doing the granny square this way. I will not be be doing them with the circle in the middle again. Thank you thank you so much. It makes doing a border effortlessly problematic. I love your colors that you use for this tutorial.
Hi Robin I love C2C and now I’m even a bigger fan.
I have always liked granny squares but now I LOVE them!!!
Robin, you are great!
Robin I love how you explained the stitch. C2C has always confused me, but your instructions let me understand this! So thank you💜💜💜
Hi Sara, I’m really glad it helped.😃 Thank you for watching.x
So glad I found this tutorial! I'm now making an afghan/blanket in the C2C granny pattern. I am hoping (and expecting) it will be the judge's favorite at next year's local county fair.
I am sure it will be, let me know how you get on then.😃🧶
