      I crochet blankets for my local hospital. I've never heard of a mental health blanket. Would you mind sharing what a mental blanket is please.

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  7 місяців тому +8

      @@minhchu9980 if she doesn’t elaborate, it’s very similar to a temperature blanket . Instead of recording daily temperatures, your do a row or round to reflect the mood you’re feeling for that day (or however you decide to log in for the year. )
      I’m doing something similar called a mood blanket.
      I create a square daily as well as log the day into a journal to help reflect even further.
      Here’s a link to the video I made in January:

    I made a mental health blanket with this stitch last year, and I fastened off and joined new yarn at the end of every round, even if I was going to the same color next, just to avoid a seam. I was buried in ends after, but I accepted my fate hahaha. but I've been wanting to make a continuous round for a blanket with this stitch, and this is just the video I needed to help me feel confident about it!

    • @PlayHookywithMe

    This is my go to..I use a hdc to join the corner and turn each round..excited to see your tips! The hdc join/turn method has never resulted in anything other than a seamless, perfect, square! ❤

    • @jessicastakes-upshaw9575
      @jessicastakes-upshaw9575 7 місяців тому

      In place of the hdc join, you can also chain 1 and use a single crochet to join, then turn. ❤

      Awesome ! Thank you for confirming that the hdc makes a difference. It’s so hard to really catch the difference on camera . And love the ch1, sc option. Excellent !!💕

      @@PlayHookywithMe I was excited to see you use the same method! The reason I mentioned the ch 1, sc is because some yarn puffs out a bit more with the hdc join. It’s the perfectionist in some of us that make the best discoveries! And the work looked great on camera, I promise.

      Thank you, Jennie! It’s a lot of things but mainly it’s a case of starting something , discovering the issue and then trying to find the solution by researching several versions of a pattern. Plus, over the years these little tips crossover and work for a lot of different patterns so it has just accumulated.
      For example, I learned something new with this video from a comment! Another option like the hdc in the corner is to do a ch1 and sc to finish the round. Very cool ! Same concept but might give a closer look to the chains in the corner. 👏🏻👏🏻
      So that’s to say, I learn a lot of these gems from you all too.
      This is my favorite thing to do, I think … find solutions to common crochet problems … but I usually come across them by accident. But when I do, I can’t wait to share with you guys! 😆😆😆💕

    Hi I'm new to your videos and I am so grateful to have found them. I decided to restart crocheting after many years of not making anything. I am so excited to see all of the neat things that can be created using crochet. My biggest question is there a video that I can watch that would help me restart, that you have filmed? I love your explanations, your voice, the way that you go over the process more than once and you are easy to follow. Anyway, I would love to know an easy pattern to use so I can create my first blanket/afghan. I picked out a kit from a company on FB, and I am thinking that it might be a little to advanced. Also, how to I pick out yarn that is quality yarn and how do I find it? I'm sorry for the questions, I am truly excited to start learning and making. If you are able to answer my questions or if anyone would be willing to do so, I would be extremely grateful. In the meantime, I will be benge watching your videos. I really like the look of the square crochet. I hope it turns into a blanket. Sorry to sound like a need, just super excited. Thank you for your videos, all my love amy.

      🤔hmm … I’m having a hard time thinking off the top of my head what would be a good video to suggest since I’m not sure what you’ve watched already so I would start there.
      It means a lot to me that I get to be a part of your return to crocheting 😀👏🏻👏🏻💕

    I finished the ripple stitch you taught and actually made a “water “ blanket for my son with an enclosed border and I have to say I’m actually super proud of it! Thank you for always being so kind and helpful.
    I wanted to ask you, I love this stitch, I wanted to know, what do you think if I were to make a bunch of smaller squares, then attached them together, sorta like your mood blanket but with this beautiful moss stitch. Bigger squares, maybe 6inches or so.
    I just love this stitch but find the ease of just making a square easier for me mentally and physically.

    Amazing tutorial! Just wondering something, I want to create a granny square blanket but I'm not sure which hook size to use. What size of crochet hooks do you usually use?

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  6 місяців тому

      It depends on the yarn you decide to use. Look on the label and it will give you a recommendation for what works well with that yarn.
      I usually work with yarn that requires a 4-5 mm hook. Both are pretty common for granny squares .
      Hope that helps 💕
