- The legend of Aang live action adaptation episode 8 final battle scene
Zuko takes revenge against admiral, Zhao revealed that Ozai betrays Zuko and only trust Azula. Uncle Iroh kills Zhao and saves Zuko.
#avatarthelastairbender #katara #netflix
I like how Iroh's firebending also emits the sound of a dragon's roar. it shows he really learns true firebending from the dragons
I want to see a flashback when General Iroh confronts the dragons. I'm quite certain we get it at some point
I hope this means when Zuko and Aang first firebend after learning from the Dragons, we hear that same roaring effect
True, nice catch
People keep talking about this roaring dragon sound effect. Is that an intentional thing or actually just regular fire shooting sfx?
@@wyea it's intentionally done. They talked about how every firebender was given a specific sound during sound engineering. For iroh, it was the dragon screech
Admiral zhao's death in the cartoon was like a devine intervention to show how a man can drown in is own ambition. But in this adaptation its poetic for Iroh character story arc. He swore to avenge the moonspirit if Zhao would harm it, but he killed Zhoa to protect his nephew who he loves like his own son.
Damn, I forgot Iroh said he would unleash what Zhao did to the moon spirit ten fold, and he actually did in this version
Made more sense for the spirit to get revenge on zhao just before returning to the oasis. Another pointless change made in the live action
@@IPlayTerribleGameshow did that make more sense
@@IPlayTerribleGamesI'm honestly neutral on that change; but Iroh killing Zhao would ironically give the Fire Nation a more valid reason to hunt him and Prince Zuko done.
Anime version still better though
Zhao's actor did an incredible job in this series, i enjoyed every single scene he was in. infact the entire fire nation cast all killed it
Fun fact:
Both of Ken Leung (Zhao) and Ozai (Daniel Dae-Kim) appeared on Lost TV show

No doubt he carried the whole series
Whether you like the show or not, it is undeniable that Zuko is by far the best character in the show. His actor really captures the inner conflict and anger he has inside him, especially the way he fights, it is fierce, unrelenting and vicious. Just like Zuko.
WHAT INNER CONFLICT?!?!?!
*unrelenting
Zuko was supposed to be the best character of the show, since its a live adaptation to the Original were again he is the best character.
Zuko: When the Fire Lord learns about this he will have your head.
Zhao: When he learns? Fool. He ORDERED me to do it.

For real brother🔥🍷😎Dude even screaming and grunts like Dante Basco. The voice of the cartoon Zuko. Can't wait for season 2
Only zuko and sokka's actors are good. Aang, Katara and azula's actors are horrible
@@itsanegg5639Aang Is alright, he is the youngest and it sucks that the writers made him more serious. But, I feel you with Katara. She was definitely the weakest out of the main characters. Worst character overall is the grandma in the first episode.
@@1EdgarA aang is the main character but at the same time he's the youngest so ig his acting can be excused but KATARA?! Considering how much her actress said in interviews her acting is shit. She barely does anything Katara like
@@1EdgarAI see so much hate for Gran Gran and it legit makes now sense. Have none of you ever heard an inuit speak???
Don't hate a different event leading to zhao dying, but it kinda cuts a moment where zuko tries to save zhao. Despite it all, zuko doesn't have the heart to kill, not even people he hates
Ya, I think that's what the true message behind both versions is. Sure, it's a little disappointing that we don't see Zuko trying to save Zhao. But at the same time, both times show Zuko is different from his father & sister in a good way. The animated version for trying to save Zhao, while this version is him sparing Zhao's life.
@@michaelgualtieri651 About sparring Zhao's life, that last shot from Zuko was really close to Zhao's head 😂 At the first time, I missed it as Zuko wanted to kill Zhao.
Idk what they want by removing the scene of Zuko tried to save Zhao. I think that is a key scene about what Zuko actually is in the og show. Damn. Even here Iroh killed, instead the spirit
This was more similar to how things went down in episode 3 of Book 1, when Zhao tried to attack Zuko after their duel and Iroh stepping in to stop him. But then again, I guess him sparing his life and not actually killing him despite hating him was the writers' way of trying to convey the same thing?
@michaelgualtieri651 ....but in the original Zuko already had the character moment of sparing Zhao in the Agni Kai
In either version, Zhao is an idiot. He should have known taking a shot at Zuko while Zuko was walking away would have meant death.
Also don’t take a shot at someone while their back is turned
@@joewhitehead3 He was, as Zuko rightly called him, a coward. Attacking someone with their back turned away from them is a coward's move. No wonder Iroh stepped in there.
"Is this how the great Commander Zhao acts in defeat? Disgraceful."
Zhao's former teacher Jeong Jeong always said Zhao's greatest weakness was his lack of control.
I don't think he was aware of Irohs presence. In this scene he only becomes aware of Zuko when Iroh is no longer visible.
I love the small detail of Iroh standing by in the background. He trusts that his nephew needs to fight this battle on his own, but the moment the fight turns dishonorable... 🔥 I like how it mirrors Zuko & Zhao's Agni Kai in the cartoon, but with even higher stakes. Iroh protected his nephew AND avenged the moon spirit, as promised.
0:34
Zhao: Traitor.
Zuko: Coward.
Much well deserve praise to Dallas and Paul for their Zuko and Iroh, but I was also surprised by how good Ken Leung. Zhao isn't exactly the franchise's best villain. He's a little goofy, but Leung dug into that camp so well. He was slimy, manipulative, and sold those quiet glares of contempt. He was so much fun to watch.
Yup. His Zhao was funny in a good way. Albeit smart, he was an out-of-place weakling who ended up causing a lot of destruction.
As an actor(not character or writing), Leung is easily, easily the best actor by FAR.
I like how they expanded the character of Zhao. Now, it's believable for him to kill the Moon Spirit because we know what his real intension is. The actor was great
Sooooo? Was it somehow not believable that Zhao was aiming to slay the Moon Spirit that he was that big a glory hound, high on his delusions of grandeur?
Its believeable to me either way. 🤷♂️
@@Boss_Isaacok boomer

Iroh killing zhao is something else. Iroh didn't kill anyone after the great war on ba sing se in the animated show.
He had to save zuko
@@Ghidorah382In the animated series, Zuko and Zhao’s battle is interrupted by a water spirit. Zuko tries to save Zhao but Zhao withdraws his hand and accepts his fate.
Narratively speaking, both are good in their own right but the animated series had a more sensible non-typical outcome.
If yoy think about it killing Zhao makes sense he didnt bother stopping the agni kai that got Zuko Scarred he could´ve stepped in and apologize to the firelord and face Zuko himself, but as Zuko stated he was a "coward"
@@bahrahfahofficial1158Yeah. Zhao's fate became a lesson to both Water Tribes and the Fire Nation about messing with the spirits
I think it's an improvement. I think the only reason Iroh didn't kill Zhao in the cartoon was to make it more kid-friendly.
He threatened to kill him if he harmed the spirit in both versions and followed through with it, but in the show Zhao escaped before Iroh was able to kill him and then the ocean spirit killed him before Iroh saw him again.

Like in the 2000s, they fought each other with pure and mutually irreconcilable hatred. It ends with Zhao telling Zuko that Ozai wanted him gone for good but the audience knows that the love in conditional.
Zuko has more honor than Zhao, Azula, and Ozai combined. Zuko tries to consider the consequences of his actions. The other three only see short term benefits to what they do.

Ken Leung did a good job portraying Zhao perfectly. A complete psychopath who used any means necessary to get what he wanted. Ambitious, manipulative, cunning, dishonorable while acting like he was loyal to Zuko. Let's be real he's the only Fire Nation guy that actually killed a spirit which are kind of like demi-gods of this world and started a world ending event involving magic.
In the cartoon zuko tried to safe zhao that gave you a glimps off the good that was in zuko all along and showed you a little hope for his redemtion arc. But here trying to kill him and Iroh killing zhao takes all that growht and forshadowing away. Sad see this show can't life up to the original it had so much potential. But at least its better than de shamalan movie
It's amazing that they used the same effect as the show where everything was black and white and they only showed color through fire 🔥

I love the detail that Firebending briefly brings back the color to the world before it turns gray again, like in the animated series.
I gotta say in this live action that is some tantrum zuko having knowing that he has trying to see if it’s the truth, and if he knows it and it’s like a battlefield in his head deciding what to do and what’s his destiny?

And?
@@LucerysOwnerAnd it was better because it was this undefiable force and also because later we see he was trapped in the spirit world for generations.

The show does that a lot. “Improves” the story by taking out all the cool shit. Like showing Wan Shi Tong in the forest and realizing just how much cool shit we are going to NOT see the rest of the season or series as a whole. I mean maybe Appa will be taken in a different, less necessarily way to include or something who knows. Just like they shot their load early with Kyoshi taking over Aang in the very second episode for a less cool scene that coulda went to Roku later on as a more impressive shocker.
Or making Katara her own master cuz woman even if it completely removed the whole aspect relating to Gran-Gran standing against tradition and Pakku having a closer tie to them than just some dude.
It was four random Waterbenders actually, they put him in a bubble and drowned the guy.
My favourite actor in the series so far is the one playing iroh. He's so good. Like the way the character speak and talk is so weird but his performance sells it.
Zhao, "wipe yourself off man, you're dead"
Rush Hour 1 reference.
At least Iroh fulfilled his promise to Zhao in this version.
"And the winner is the one Without the scar from Daddy" man..that line hit hard.
I like how they used elements from their final fight in the original series and from their Agni Kai in the original.
I love so much that Iroh's fire usually sounds like a Dragons Roar! I really hope we get to see him go absolutely off in the final battle with all the White Lotus, probably my favorite part of the entire animated series. Legit the best character in every iteration of Avatar!
Iroh’s actor really nailed the expression of “oh goddamnit zuko let’s just get out of here”
Zuko’s fire pick will never not be sick
Zhao’s actor is genuinely the MVP of this cast so far
I feel like the slow mo doesn’t work for the Netflix fight scenes. The animation thrived on fast paced flowing action and felt like there was a danger present throughout a fight
Netflix cooked with this scene
For real. Amazon Prime cooked with The Boys and Invincible series and now🔥 Netflix 🔥cooked with Avatar the last Airbender
Iroh was like: That’s what that man deverses Honestly iroh wouldn’t be so wreckless as Zuko was but that man already knows he was up to no good. He has the most respect out of anyone in the fire nation.
I kinda like Iroh getting revenge on zhao killing the moon in this version
its entirely possible zhao could live if the show decides to keep him around. would be funny with the line about the winner not having scars which he would from the burns
The Iroh's amount of love for Zuko is enormous enough to burn down Anyone - even the person from his country - who dares to hurt his nephew
Zuko "Breakdancing" in the OG cartoon was barely used, only as a "signature move".
Here, they decided to go all out with Liu's moves and I really love it. Look at these jumps omagad ! 0:14
Does Zhao know that Ozai doesn't give 2 fucks about him?
Zhao is a Fire Nation patriot. To him it's for the glory of the Fire Nation and himself of course.

You actually called your toe Zhao when you stepped on something 🤔
Seriously, Zhao is messed up person just like Zuko's father and sister just loves himself too much and hurting Zuko for his own pride and ego.
I’m just saying, they COULD have still had the iconic line of Zuko where he says “you tried to have me killed” and they (AGAIN) could’ve made it work and fit into this
1:56 That scream. Reminded me when Matt Murdock after he beat Fisk in the Daredevil Season 3 finale.

Spirit: "Hey! He was mine!"
When he walked in the first time I knew this was Zhao.
I prefer the cartoon death more honestly. In the end, Zhao’s ambition and hatred for Zuko got him killed. When the spirit was dragging him away, Zuko tried to help him. But Zhao refuses his help and tries to fight the spirit himself.
I think the fire nation cast kills it for the most part except Iroh. I feel like he’s too serious in the live action. The Iroh in the anime is just too good to live up to
Zhao was a fool
I dislike that Iroh ended up killing Zhao. Despite their differences, at the very least when Zhao was about to be consumed by the spirit, he refused Zuko's help and basically owned up for causing the imbalance that he did. This showed that Zhao isn't just a cartoony villain; in the live action he seemed more like one who ended up being a puppet under Azula. It also showed growth in Zuko's character, as he offered to show mercy despite people not showing him any mercy at all. I feel having Iroh kill off Zhao cheapens the scene, not to mention the lack of any real build up between Zhao and Zuko's rivalry.
For a second I was like “oh no! Spoilers!”
And then I backed that thought up a second and remembered i’d already watched the cartoon.

The animated series was better on how Zhao died though. He shows a brief moment of weakness but recoils from it back to his grimace and doesn't accept Zuko's help. The pride needs to be shown till the end.

i never seen Zhao firebending til now lmao
I don't like this change personally. I liked in the cartoon that the Ocean Spirit dragged Zhao away into the fog of lost souls so he would forever be trapped within his own mind for murdering the moon spirit.
Zhao wasn't killed by Iroh he was killed by Aang's giant water monster!
That's from the animated series.
We can see the waters below the bridge glowing, it most likely claimed him.
Dallas Liu would have made a lethal addition to Cobra Kai. Too bad the show is ending soon though.
Why didn't they let the spirit end Zhao there? And Iroh would never shoot fire to someone's back. In the og Iroh just shutted the fire from Zhao. Why? Just why?? The spirit is the one who deserves the kill
he didnt shoot someone in the back, he defended his nephew from being shot in the back. Plus we can see the water where Zhao fell glowing ominously similar to the spirits glow.
it's a shame that zuko and zhao didn't face each other as firebenders complete with firebending
Zhao pisses me tf off like he made me not want to watch the show and ik I’m too invested but bro😭
All Fire Nation actors are well done. Seething, frothing at the mouth, angry and way too serious. Fire Nation is supposed to be intense.
Did the water spirit kill Zhao when Iroh blasted him? Cause that's what happened in the animated series
The ocean spirit never killed zhao. It banished him to the fog of lost souls-a place in the spirit world where people who commit terrible crimes against spirits are forced to relive their worst moments, and go insane. Zhao was sentenced to spend an eternity there
