  • What's up yall its ya boy Mike back here with season 7!! This episode starts with Arya killing all the remaining Freys. Bran shows us to the Wall where Ed is. Jon sends the wildlings to the wall- they're the Nights Watch now. He also makes a decree that all man woman and child will train to fight. Boy or girl all must defend the realm. Lady Mormont says some dope stuff. Sansa disagrees with Jon. Sam deals with some nasty Maester work while Arya chills with Ed Sheeran. The Hounds looks into the fire and Khaleesi sets foot on Westeros. Things are looking hyped can't wait to see where it all goes. Much love see you all on the next one!

Hehe yeah, I've noticed that for a while, they got too much D&D on the brain I think. Which is not a bad thing but sometimes they make some wild predictions and its hilarious. Like sure in hindsight after we've seen what happens we know. But like I don't remember myself making any predictions privately to myself while I was watching the show, I just watched. Had I tried to make predictions how far off would I have been?
Granted, little mistakes like not knowing where Dragonstone was, the title of the episode, or when the Hound mentioned where the wall meets the sea and said there's a castle there, ya gotta at least know they are talking about the castles that the Nights Watch use to man the wall, and so far the only one they ever mentioned being by the sea is Eastwatch. Sometimes yeah its hard to remember those little details.

Actually, the two main writers of the show were not told they had to finish it quickly. HBO was willing to let the show go on for an additional few seasons. However, the two writers wanted to rush it so that they could move on to new projects. Ironically, the negative reception of the last few episodes of Game of Thrones caused them to experience a fallout with those projects that they rushed to get to. The dead are not at the wall yet. What the hound saw "where the wall meets the sea" was Eastwatch-by-the-sea. It's one of the castles, like Castle Black, Shadow tower, and the Nightfort attached to the wall. If you remember, Jons first act as Lord Commander, he tried to send Janos Slynt there to get it up and running again because it was abandoned, many of the castles on the wall were. But he tried to call his bluff and refused, so Jon beheaded him. Look at the map again, Dragonstone is way south, below the Eyrie. It's actually really close to Kings Landing. It's very unclear in book cannon. I've seen some interesting theories that it was actually the other's (white walkers) who built the wall, or that the only thing keeping them out has something to do with an ancient oath / peace treaty wherein a stark must always be in Winterfell. I think it is one of those things we'll never really know for sure. GRRM likes to keep his ancient stuff open to interpretation. ⚜️ Regarding "time jumps": At this point, we all should know roughly how long it takes to get from one place to another within the realm based on dialogue in previous seasons. Therefore, you're supposed to use your brain to infer that a certain amount of time has passed when you see a certain character in one location and then another in the same episode. While I agree that writing took a turn for the worse, the writers certainly didn't expect anyone to believe that teleportation had suddenly become the preferred means of travel. There's no reason at this point to watch people walk/ride for several episodes to get from one place to another, it's a waste of screen time.

So for me, my head canon is that the Night King is ice, even though there’s not a “Night King” in the books. There’s even an incestuous parallel with Craster’s babies being totally ice.

Yeah I say the same thing. There are things for characters to do when they were on long journeys in the earlier seasons. Now with fewer characters what are they just gonna have them walk, take pisses, sit and eat, and then what? Its just good to just get them there. But it would be great for like the characters to at least vocalize the passage of time a bit. Like "better get a move on its a month's ride to such and such place" or like when they just arrived say something like "Boy it got cold in just two months time!" Because really, when we start dealing with the large scale battles, and soldiers traveling around to places, the sheer logistics of moving an army across a vast landscape is staggering. All the tents and food and equipment they have to bring, take care of horses and such. I'm sure an army of like 10,000 men could only move at like 20 miles in a day at most, give or take. When Jon says that there's a 1000 miles between Winterfell and King's Landing, you know that he knows it'll take Cersei forever to come up to him, if she even dares try especially now that winter really has come, that'll just slow soldiers down even more.
Which also adds to character relationships, like in later episodes when certain characters travel together, people be like (no spoilers) "but they've only known each other for days why this and that??" I'd be like, just remember they just went 1000 miles or more, they spent plenty of time together.

    Guys....
    1. The castle the Hound saw in the flames was where the wall meets the sea. If you look at your map you will see it is called Eastwatch. It is not Dragonstone.
    2. The place where the grey scale creatures attacked Jorah and Tyrion is Old Valyria. It is not Dragonstone.
    3. Daenerys landed on Dragonstone, which was formerly occupied by Stannis. It is relatively not too far from King's Landing. It is effectively at the mouth of Blackwater Bay, where Stannis's fleet was destroyed by Wildfire on their way to King's Landing, which is in the bay. Again, check your map.
    4. There are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of books each with thousands of pages in the Oldtown Citadel library. It would take a while to copy them. Sam does not have a photocopier handy, nor a smartphone to take pictures...and he doesn't even know where to start looking.
    5....

Hey my guys, I love your reactions and your dynamics together. Just for awareness (change your mind and practice if you like or don't, no matter either way) but just for the record the word "wight" and the word "white" sound exactly the same. 'Wight' does not sound like 'Wait'. Wight, rhymes with Night, Light, Flight, and Fright. But hey, if you did the reader thing of looking at the word and sorting out how you think it sounds to you, cool. Keep on keeping on. Just wanted you to be aware.

On a positive note, you are one of the few reactors (or even watchers on general) to recognise and accept the value of time jumps in this point of the story. Yes, they could have stretched out the story with greater depth over another three or four seasons - but remember they are now writing their own material and don't have the books to go by. Perhaps they recognise they don't have the skill and depth of understanding that George RR Martin has to tell and write the full storyline, nor do they have the time to even try. Instead they follow the key points George has laid out for them, likely with some artistic licence, and started to accelerate the show using time jumps to 'get to the point's quickly. It's like getting faster as you reach the show crescendo......not everything needs to be stretched out forever like a reality show. It will be interesting to explore the greater depth of the storyline when and if the rest of the books are published....

Speaking of a Mad Queen, a really interesting theory I came across from the books has to do with heteropaternal superfecundation. Basically if a woman sleeps with multiple men in the same ovulation cycle, she could have “twins” that aren’t just “fraternal” but actually have different fathers, making them half siblings, and that’s what I think happened with Cersei and Jaime.
There’s talk in the books that the Mad King “took liberties” with Tywin’s wife Joanna, and while everyone has a Tyrion Targaryen theory, personally I think Cersei is the most obvious one.
She’s just so much more reckless and cruel and selfish than anyone else in her family. Jaime is much more calm, cool and collected like Tywin, while Cersei likes to blow shit up with wildfire.
I think I like this theory the most because it would mean the Targaryeans never really completely lost the throne. Sure, Bobby B was king, but this left Cersei as queen, and then her sons Joffrey and Tommen also would have carried the Targaryen bloodline..

Just got back from vacation. This is the perfect video to get back into my routine.
Definitely block out the haters. The show deserves criticism (in all the seasons), but the mass amount of hate the last two seasons get is undeserved in my opinion. But I’m glad you guys are going to make your own opinion on it as well instead of blindly listening to the loud voices.
That cold opening with Arya is probably the best cold opening of the show.
“I don’t need your permission to defend the north.” I adore that line from Lyanna! This show is just packed with great female characters!
I really love the back and forth between Jon and Sansa. In every conversation they have, there’s a valid point both of them make and it shouldn’t be overlooked.
“You almost sound as if you admire her.” ABSOLUTELY! Jon obviously didn’t see the season 6 finale.
I never thought about Arya steeling Ed Sheeran’s face. That’s hilarious to me.
I’m with Aaron as well; the time jumps don’t bother me either. The show was never that clear on time to begin with. This started from the very first episode and you as the viewer just have to go along with it and fill in the gaps of what happened in between which I think is fine.
The dorito at the end got me lmao.

I love 7 and 8, in fact my favorite episode of the whole show is in season 8. Just pay attention, remember details from previous seasons, and you'll be ok.
As far as the time jumps, one thing people don't think about is that in earlier seasons, they used travelling from one place to another to have characters explain lore and history, plus just generally getting to know the characters. By the time we get to seasons 7 and 8, we don't need to watch character X plod all the way from Winterfell to King's Landing.

In regards to time and distance, bear in mind that the distance between King's Landing is about 1,000 leagues. A league is equal to three miles, the distance which a good pace could cover in one hour. Typically, by horse at its walking space, a distance of 30 miles could be accomplished in one day. So, the time it would take by horse from King's Landing to Winterfell would take about 100 days or a little over three months. The quickest route of course is sail to or from White Harbor and then overland to or from Winterfell.

A big thing in the books is that "the dragon has three heads" and Danny has a prophetic vision that alludes to this, with a fourth "mummer's dragon" that is most likely a major character in the books who is claiming to be Rhaegar's son (whisked away in place of the baby the Mountain killed, would be Jon's half-brother in theory). It's a damn shame the show didn't touch on his story, as it's really important in the books right now.
A major problem with the show in general is that really important things are happening in the books with characters that are not in the show at all. They needed a clever way to either add those stories to other characters, or to bring them in as they are in the books. Plot holes are trying to be filled, but it's a cascading effect and it gets pretty bad over the last two seasons. But I'm guessing you guys will enjoy it anyway (at least up to the end of season 8) and enjoy your reacts as always.

  • @YukonBloamie

Seasons 5 and 6 were not trash. A lot of that sentiment came from a few factors. The first is that the TV show started to overtake the story in the books. So people were in real time trying to figure out what direction the story was going and if their book predictions were correct. Second, the first four episodes of season 5 were leaked online a few months before season 5 aired. The leaks ended with the episode where Sir Barristan died which didn't happen in the books, so people were pretty revved up about that (because Gren and Pip were still alive in the books too and they were killed in The Watchers on the Wall episode in season 4.) Third, people were getting tired of Ramsey Bolton's on-screen cruelty #wokewaybackwhen. Fourth, both seasons were slow burns as they built up to the best episodes of the whole series. Episodes 8-10 season 5, and the season 6 finale were four of the best episodes in the series.

HBO wanted more seasons but after waiting over a DECADE for the next book it's 100% Martin's fault. For pacing it would have been nice, but the previous seasons are a condensed version of the book that allowed it to feel more jam packed due to all the side characters & storylines that were in the books ex Sansa & Jayne Poole becoming one character in the show. What extra fluff did they have to come up with to guess what all the extra fluff would be doing in the book in order to condense it back into a couple more seasons OR they wrap it up with a direct storyline on the main characters?
