- Gears of War 2 will be 15 years later this November. Jesus. It was good for the time and still kinda... it depends on the day for me. But in 2009 this is the game that introduced me to Gears of War as a series, so here we go.

The whole reason people want a trilogy so bad or remasters. Is because the original devs for this game are long gone and its never been the same. Gears hasn't been gears since 3 when epic sold the rights to other companies

Lately seeing more and more gamers replaying this gem. Gears 2 is one of the first games that I had on my Xbox 360 and one of the very best games that I played.
Gears of War 1-3 and Judgement are great. Once they dropped of War and started calling the games Gears, it went downhill for me. Gears 4 and Gears 5 to me have no guts.
1 to 3 were absolutely brilliant judgement was shit had no interest or intention to play still don't but I own it gow 3 was the last one I played but only the multiplayer
Gears happened with 5 gears of war 4 still had "of war" and judgment was ass, there was no cool moments like gow 1-3 gears one had the car with the light section, the cool mine cart section, gow 2 had ravens the car as well and even using a brumak, gow 3 had the car section as you dodge imulsion lokust, goin down on a zip line, and they all had great atmosphere, judgment had none of that, they removed horde mode and integrated it into the very mid campaign, there was no deep feeling cutscenes or interactions with characters like gow1-3 had even 4 had better heart felt moments like when marcus was captured and his son was mortified, judgment had nothing just mid, gow 1-3 on top, even 4 is better than judgment imo with mp a lone
I also liked Judgment, it wasn't as good as the trilogy but it still had the feel of Gears.
Gears 4 sucked, Gears 5 was slightly better.
Judgement was insane trash lmao. Gears 4 had a trash campaign but has the best multiplayer. It’s just gears 3 but plays and runs better.
Judgment is absolutely not great at all. It had a few things going for it but combat felt weird, bad repetitive gameplay, declassified missions sucked, and it felt like they just threw tons of different enemies into combat arenas rather than enemies serving their specific roles like in 1-3.
Still my favourite campaign of any game ever to this day, pure peak & nostalgia 😮💨
I made my first real friend playing Gears2, even tho it was all online and she was 4 years older, it taught me that friends can be made anywhere and we always had a great time win/lose
I miss the Gears Forums, made a lot of good friends there, the Discord is kinda a shadow of itself now

Best game in the series, I’ve lost track of how many times I played through the story. My favorite part was the new hope research facility the rain made the level look amazing
I didn't have live back then but i spent countless hours playing against bots and replaying the campaign
I miss Gears 2 so much. Freeze and crashes every time I try to play it, but man that was the best in the series

I would LOVE a Gears of war but from the view point of the UIR
Seeing as the COG were losing and made the locust basically as a superweapon/supersoldier but at the end stole the UIR's superweapon blueprints(hammer of dawn)
But I would like to see the wars through their eyes, from getting their fleet basically nuked by the Cog with the hammer to the outbreak of the locust and lambent, seeing their society crash and how they had to survive, not to mention the cival war that broke out in the UIR between those that wanted to use their finished hammer to strike back at the COG amd those that said it was time to end the war, too many have died already.
What would be cool is a prequel, especially of the pendulum wars, maybe a rts would work

This game easily has my whole heart, as many happy memories are linked to it. My favourite being my brother playing all horde maps with me until wave 50, just to get the achievements lol

Ayyyy hold on, you can kinda still get it! On Xbox you can play all of the games, and people still play gears 3-5 all the time!
Admittedly, it’s fair to say you can never remove them glory gays, but you can still get a good blast of nostalgia 😂

I must've been 8 or 9 an this was my first xbox 360 game. I used to love using the longshot to get gruesome headshots.
I actually like Judgement. I love all of them. Even 4 and 5. 5 looks beautiful, but I hate when you gotta ride around from place to place 😂
I really wish Microsoft would give the Gears series the MCC treatment. Remaster and rerelease the games as a bundle for both Xbox and PC. You might not want it, but it's been so long that we need to be able to play the original series on modern systems. They don't have to go full remaster. Just clean them up a bit.
Not worth multiple play throughs!? I was in grade 12 when this came out. I played through it so many times with friends or random online people. And the amount of time I sunk into Horde... oh man.

Horde and MP are a different story, I played nothing but G2 until 3 released (when I was far too young to play it) but the campaign isn’t really meant for replays, outside of the decade removed revisiting. Kinda like most linear campaign modes, I’d never give a COD game a second run through either, not because I don’t like them, it’s just a personal preference for gameplay on my part.
This was my all time favorite game! Got me into xbox live and i put the more hours in than any other game i ever played. Ever. Even GTA
One thing that made this game so special is we never knew what the Locust queen looked like until we got to her chambers. That buildup infiltrating the palace was amazing! My favorite in the series! The original trilogy is my favorite series of all time! I hope they bring back that nostalgia with Gears 6. We need a remaster of the original trilogy and a couple prequel games!
They don’t make games like they used to, I remember playing gears 2 a lot when it came out I was only 10 years old and my whenever I hear the menu music I always got the chills back then I still do when I load it up even today good memories…

This is the beat gears of war and nobody can change my opinion. The scene with dom still gets me sad. It also extremely brutal which the games lost touch of the gritty dark look after this game. I like 3 but it did not feel the same as this gem. Music is amazing as always and gears was never the same after this.
Gears 2 was the peak of my childhood gaming… awesome campaign, awesome multiplayer and community. They really don’t give us complete games like this anymore.
I’m an OG from 2006. I can remember the outrage on the Epic forums when Gears 2 released. Cries that the game was broken. The change from center screen aiming. The rag doll effect from concussion grenades. The two piece. The planted frags. Prople hated the change from the darker more monochromatic tone to a more colorful visual palette. Now that I have been with this franchise to this day, I see it as the repeating pattern that it is. Some people just hate change.
Some people really do, I can recognize the bad writing in Gears 4/5... but to me it's kinda been in the series since the beginning. Even if they made a return to form in the most authentic greyed out way possible, people would complain that it's TOO monochromatic or TOO masculine, you're never gonna appease people, and that goes double for Gears fans.
But that's why I started Nexus Nights! To bring together Gears fans that enjoy Gears and other co-op shooters, rather than focus on the negatives. I try to stray from the negative critiques of these games not because they're perfect or even that they deserve it--but because gaming is more fun when you let yourself have fun, rather than going full Reddit and writing a novel about why Kait Diaz is the worst thing in the history of gaming.

Gears 2 will always stand out to me as the first game I played in actual 1080 resolution on an LCD TV. Gears 4 was ironically the first game I played in HDR.
After I borrowed g1 from my mate. I was hooked on the game.
Gears 2 came to me just, just as I got my exam results. Insane to think that was 15 years ago. 💀

Gears 2 & 3 remade in gears 4&5s engine would be dope. (Of course gameplay flow like gears 4 as I feel 4th gears plays much better than 5)
And the added characters from the newer games would be great too.

I'd actually love a remaster so I can play the game without the delay xbox 360 games have on xbox one (don't own a 360 anymore). Mostly play games on my PC nowadays so it would be great to see this game at much higher resolutions and framerate. Remastered versions of 2 and 3 would be an instant purchase for me.
Gotta try upscale on the Series X/S, it feels remastered at 60fps and I don’t feel any delay.
I dont trust the new developers to give this game justice. This game has such a dark and unique look that i dint want get ruined

@@Buster-McTunder Also not sure what game you are playing but mine ran at 30fps or less during most combat sequences and had approx 0.25-0.5ms of delay. Isn't the Xbox One X better than the series S? Beat the Gears 2 campaign again recently. Definitely needs a remaster where I can play it on my own hardware not this trash can they call the Xbox One.

I always wanted to play Gears of war 2 but never had an xbox , last week I completed the main story on my PC emulated with Xenia Canary and maaannnn what an EPIC ride this game was even after 15 years.

I believe ripped the cutscene for this, but in one of my newer videos going over the entire Lore of Dom’s story, I was able to keep Maria’s scene in there and YT never prompted me to remove the music. So idk

i remember hating the lancer stopping power and i felt like they nerfed the gnasher compared to the first installment. gears of war 1 will always be my personal favorite

I thought your opinion on a remaster for Gears was pretty interesting, and in a way almost refreshing. Not many people are against remasters, and I'm glad to see that you were brave enough to decide to voice your thoughts on the matter, I'm somewhere in the middle but I can certainly agree that if The Coalition (or whatever diversity hire hell company Microsoft cobbles together) were to remaster the original trilogy, it just wouldn't be the same.
100% agree. I’m not saying that a remaster wouldn’t be a delight, I fear many people interpret it as that, but if I wanted to replay these games that often, I’d play them as they are. Something akin to a spiritual successor ala DOOM 2016 or God of War 2018 that does something new yet similar while evolving, rather than releasing a 2008 game in 2024 with a fresh coat of paint is the way I’d take it, Gears UE died instantly after 4 was released, I’m just of the opinion that’s because even a remaster with graphics that still hold up today, is held back by the burdens of making a game that is stale in comparison to how the TPS genre has evolved. It’s like Warhammer: Boltgun, which I adore but at the same time it’s singularly derivative of DOOM with a Space Marine paint job, it can only be as good as the atmosphere with games like DOOM Eternal taking the cake.
This game deserves a damn remake!! The campaign alone is a masterpiece.

I’ve noticed tons of channels now are replaying old games and I’m loving it gaming nowadays is so meh with how lackluster and half assed they are, gears of war was amazing back in the day the new ones 4-5 are trash story wise, character wise, gameplay wise. it’s messed up how Microsoft has run so many franchises into the ground.

Fantastic game that tried something new with how meaty and heavy it felt controlling the characters. Unfortunately the multiplayer wasn’t as good as the first but had some welcome additions that were properly fleshed out in 3.
I was 14 when this game came out and I was a beast at gow3 online too!

Probably 3, or if I'm feeling heretical, it's a close tie between 4 and Tactics. I made a video ranking the games by my own standard and from a more objective POV, but yeah--I was a freshman when 4 came out so between 3/4 I spent the most time with.

a repackage of the original trilogy would bring the games to pc finally, and a unification of multiplayer would be goated, this games are massive in latam

Gears of war is one of my favorite franchises, but really should have been left in the hands of epic games. I actually think gears 2 still has replay value with completing collectibes, co op, and trying to get that seriously 2.0. But the franchise now has the Halo curse where the sequels aren't as good, and have more negatives than positives in the gameplay characters and story. Not to mention microtransactions
I mean gameplay and micro transactions? Gears 3 had it. I think 4 was an improvement and 5 is hit or miss, honestly compared to most games out there Gears is even pretty forgiving, seeing as in 5 (even 4 if you played enough) you don’t really have to spend any money whatsoever to unlock the characters or skins you really want, unless you want Black/Chrome Steel, but thats a whole different thing.
Story yeah, there’s just no character in the new ones but gameplay id say is a vast improvement. People may not like the faster pace personally, but I think it’s fine.
but they did do a remastered of gears of war 2 lol. a few years back. i remember playing the xbox360 than end up playing the remastered port on PC right after.
It wasn’t remastered. Maybe an unofficial port by a third party or on Xbox’s streaming service. I know if you stream the game to PC it should load with the next gen specs (60fps and upscaled to 1080)

I’ll be honest I don’t like it across the board, I prefer the Locust being a clash of natural and the drones being manufactured. But Tactics totally undid that.

There was texts that implied corpsers and wretches (and other animal creatures like Leviathans) were natural to Sera and then the Drones/Therons just domesticated them. In Tactics they just slap the genetic experiment label on everything, meaning that every last Locust was made in ~50 years at the most
Meh. Recently replayed the Gears trilogy for the first time in a decade. Gears 1 was repetitive and the others are just more of the same. Judgement was a fun change, and I gave up halfway through 4. It was just too dull, especially the bullet sponge robot enemies in the first half.

I just don’t feel compelled to play the Campaign again and again after a first run, maybe an Insane run for the achievement. Not saying that others don’t enjoy it, but these games are dated for me and there’s not a lot of mixture in a replay as you’d get in an RPG like Mass Effect or something.
@Buster-McTunder that's what I did my first play through I played it on the hardest difficulty with no help it took me I believe a whole year to beat the game cause I was trying to beat a record of not dying once through the hardest difficulty, but it was hard to do someone did it and I tried to replicate it, but it's almost impossible, but can be done. You must have played it on normal setting to give a comment about the game cause if you was just playing it on hardest difficulty you wouldn't be saying it's not replayable.

Fallout 4 is bad? Very random and funny but kind of true. I have a lot of fun with it to this day but compared to new vegas it actually is disappointing.

I don’t even want to touch modern gears games due to how they abandoned the aesthetic and feel of gears of war. The series hasn’t remained pure. I don’t like the direction of the story either. Gears 3 had the perfect ending. The global conflict in gears of war is so massive that you can spin endless stories from them. I would have been content with a new gears game every couple of years telling other stories from the locust wars. Though I didn’t like judgement. I really tried to. But changing the button layout AND removing the curb stomp? Maybe the series would have died anyways. But then how would it be kept alive. Gamers are to blame. They leave games once they get old just because it feels natural to play newer stuff.
I can kinda agree on gamers playing newer stuff, but that's sort of the way of the industry. Why would I still be playing a 15 year old game when games today feel and look so much better? I'm personally of the opinion that I prefer the gameplay of 4/5 over the original trilogy, and I even enjoy Judgment to some extent--but yeah the whole gravity of the series was left behind.
@@Buster-McTunder I don’t know how the new gears handles or feels. Us OG players will say that all the fancy new weapons and grabbing people over cover ruins the meta. As for looking good I completely disagree. I don’t think graphics have been a problem in AAA games since 2006. Now they are just adding more individual arm hairs on characters and very little else. What really matters is artistry and how good the people who designed the game were. That’s what makes it look good in my opinion.

Halo and gears are so similar in the response, gears 1 and halo ce are the atmosphere builders with 2 being their badass action pack large scale, with the 3rd being the somber and emotional end. Then 4 there's some potential, and 5 being cash grab bags of ass. Fingers crossed 6 will be better received than infinite
I think Infinite was good, just didn’t get the support it needed for the player base. And with Gears 5… I think it’s a perfectly fine game it just didn’t pass the vibe check as a “Gears” game, but the controls feel really fluid and fun.
