Gears of War 3, 12 Years Later

- The game that I fell in love with on the Xbox 360. The best Gears of War game, probably even in 2023. 12 years old, and strong as ever. Gears of War 3 is one of my favorite games of all time, so here we go.
Also yes, Nexus Nights is returning.
(For legal reasons no Carmines were killed in the making of this video).

Gears of War Trilogy was the golden peak of gaming that deserves better. 👍
I dunno if it’s peak but it’s way better than it had any right to be and still better than most AAA games now
If anyone ever asks me what my favorite video game is, I answer gears of war. I grew up with a nes snes and Genesis in my house as a child, and we owned every system that ever released. I grew up with mario 64 diddy kong racing and 007 goldeneye. I loved def jam fight for NY, sonic adventure 2, san andreas, and halo, But gears of war has always been the best game series I ever played.
That's just how I feel anyways.
Dom's death was a hard one
The Gears of War series started in 2006 and ended in 2011 such a short time span but non stop greatness
They don’t make em like this no more
I disagree because I enjoy all the Gears games, but I can enjoy Gears 3 even today. 1&2 are a bit sour for me but 2011 was an important milestone for the series.
they should really hand the franchise over to a new studio, like they did for tactics. im convinced TC doesnt even want to make gears anymore, since they were working on 2 projects that got canned to make room for gears 6. it's really not that hard to bring back the grittiness of the original trilogy, especially 1/2. but nooo, we want gears to be colourrfullll. even the gore looks worse in the new games. it's like star wars, no-one cares about the new trilogy. the swarm are just less cool-looking locusts. after 6 they should go back to the locust war and stick to prequels.
@@billjones642 TC knows what they're doing, trust me
Clicked on this because I grew up with 3, stayed for the music from Judgement. You essentially packed my two favorite games of all time into one video. Judgement's music made this retrospective feel better in a way, and it's good to see someone at least point out the timeline with the beginning of the game. Hats off to you good Tuber
i still play this game every day
Little late to this video, but this is my genuine favourite game of all time, and this is a brilliant retrospective on it all. I played it as a kid, and I can’t even believe it’s 12 years old already. I might keep the release dates of gears as holidays in my life lolol
I just like to remind my dad of Gears 3's age every year, as it's the first one we played together.
Awesome video! The Gears of War series was such a great time in gaming. I loved that series... Gears 4 n 5 were ok...but Gears of War 1-3 was a masterpiece. Thanks for putting this together. ✊🏿
Every once in awhile I go back and play 1-3, and while I prefer the gameplay of 4/5, playing 3 always puts a smile on my face
10/10 one of the best retrospective videos ive ever seen, bonus points for GoW nostalgia. Could use more skits to be fair. Definitely earned my subscription with flying colors. Honestly thought this was a channel with thousands of subs, if this is the level of quality you can put out, i'm very excited to see your channel grow
You know, I’m something of an editor myself 😌
@@Buster-McTunder Would you mind sharing how you learned how to edit? Was it a certain program, or were you self taught, or? I would love to know as I am highly considering learning myself to create videos!
@@jaredgoldfine1391 it’s not very good. I know enough to know that. I learned some things from Film Arts classes I took in HS, and things I’ve learned to pick up on after years and years of watching other people’s videos and just thinking about them. Raceyvik (that’s probably spelt wrong) was a big inspiration to me. But shows like Corridor Crew and just paying attention to things is how I effectively taught myself to make stuff. Still learning now. Compare this video to one of my Ragnarok videos earlier in 2023 or one I’ve made recently, even in just 6 months or so I feel the quality is night and day.
@Buster-McTunder Wow thats crazy that you're mostly self taught. Perhaps you need to have that knack in order to edit videos in the way you want them to.I'll check that out and make plans to start learning soon. I appreciate the response!
Of course. You'd be surprised how many "Big" youtubers are self taught. My advice would be to listen. Podcasts by big creators that I'm a fan of have been great to put me in the right mindset to make stuff. Just--make stuff. Most of the "tips for new UA-camrs" videos specifically are pretty bad, or only do basic things. Just do what you want. That's why I've moved away from doing only Gears stuff and just sorta make videos about what I'm passionate in. @@jaredgoldfine1391
Great video my guy! Gears of War has seemed to fall through the cracks of the gaming zeitgeist recently, but I love to see it get some love ❤🤘🤙
I think it’s mainly because Gears hasn’t had a game present in the mainstream since like 2016, so we’re not seeing new people come into the series and it’s just the remaining fanbase.
Also why I like to keep stuff positive, so many Gears fans talk bad on the series and write about it’s failures, which I get-I’ve done it too- but that sentiment won’t attract new people in. Check out the Discord in the description! Trying to get more people in on community hosted events to get new people and old fans playing more Gears!
Could see this channel blowing up based off this vid.
Here’s hoping
My brother and I really liked the trilogy. This was our game together. Great times.
Same. The amount of time I spent with my best friend and brothers on this game in 2012 was astounding
How would you feel about making videos on the gears of war books? I just finished Aspho fields, it was really good.
Trust me, it’s in the pipeline. First gonna go with the history of Sera itself, little sneak peek
@@Buster-McTunder Oooo can’t wait to see it
The Karen Travis Gears books are so good some of my fav to revisit
Woooooo yeah baby
That's what I've been waiting for, that's what it's all about!
Gears of War 3 is the Halo 3 of third-person shooters.
I do enjoy gaming videos where the creator can be both analytical and positive.
I think there are too many pseudo intellectuals who are just overly negative because they fail to realize that the complete and total dissection of something tarnishes it. Like yeah bro when you game next to a note book it just ain’t as fun. Imagine if I had to take a notebook into the bedroom and give a written review of sex. Suddenly I when to stop, document and analyze every odd odor and awkward position. This is what a lot of content creators do to games.
These dudes will make disgusting videos about their favorite game where by the end of it you can’t even tell if they actually even liked the game
So it’s always nice to just hear someone at length just talk positively about a game. The truth is that experiences can’t be transcribed and the best review: of media can be summed up in as little as “i had fun”. And that’s pretty much what this video is, just not in so few words. Just a gears fan boy yammering about how much he simps for this game.
You remind me of another content creator, Writing in games. Another younger who you can tell actually enjoys video games and knows how get their enjoyment of the game across in the video.
Anyway great work.
Exactly. Video games should be fun, not taken so seriously that we’re out here malding about inane nonsense.
Thanks for watching!

Bro chill 😭
I said what I said 🤷♀️
fire vid man keep it up
Thanks, will do!
an outstanding video as always. love your work man.
Glad you enjoy it! Definitely more to come!
The only problem I had with the multiplayer was that people only used the gnasher. It was really repetitive and boring, no epic shoot outs
You didn't mention Tai. Other than Dom, Tais death and what happened to him was bonkers
Tai was in Gears of War 2?
hello small youtuber i see video i like
Lambert are cool enemy
Yes. Yes they are.
@@Buster-McTunder I would love to have dlc that you play as a locust and fight lambert no human in this time
@@FrankyTorres-h7t I’d love a Rise of Raam adaptation so we can see the Sraak chokeslam in action.
@@Buster-McTunder 👍
Good video, but Raycevick at least gave his thoughts on the campaigns he talked about instead of just retelling them.
"So this happened."
"THE MULTIPLAYER'S GOOD."
"And then this happened."
LIKE HOMIE HOW DID THE GAME MAKE YOU FEEL
I CLICKED TO GET YOUR OPINION, PLEASE GIVE IT TO ME
That’s coming. Tends to be Gears fans don’t appreciate my opinion so my whole deal here was just to reminisce and go over the game. Although there’s not much opinion on Gears 3 I tend to have, unlike 1 or 2 it’s the single game in the franchise that sits in my nostalgia blind spot. And going super-negative in certain aspects is something I’d like to stay away from. If you want a more unfiltered opinion of mine from Gears just wait, I got something coming soon.
That’s fair. In your defense, this is coming from the mofo who did two entire Gears 5 livestreams to prove how overblown the hate is for Kait (I still hold the stance that it very much is), but good on ya for building the courage to speak your mind. Knowing the Gears community, as much as I love it, they’re not the best at taking that in stride.
@@ket2ZEchoppah I’m not normally one to fry away but that thing… it scares me. And yes I can agree that the Kait thing is overblown, part of what I have in this next video. But I guess we’ll see how it goes
Gears Of War 3 for me was the last franchise. The fourth one doesn't exist for me.
I guess that’s fair to each their own. I don’t love the story of 4/5 but game wise I enjoy them a lot, 4 was my first proper multiplayer game so I’m partial to it, and 5 felt great when I played it regularly, besides the whole story issues.
these games are all the same though. not just the story but the gameplay loop is beyond tedious.
Trust me I can agree with that. Gears is a weird one because as a game I grew up with and played with my Dad it has a hold on how I evolved into who I am, but at the same time I understand how dogwater it can be if you don’t have that prebuilt fandom for the game out the gate.
But most Gears fans disagree when I say the games are bad so I farm them for nostalgia points and have been moving away from making Gears content overall.
@@Buster-McTunder Yh i remember enjoying them at the time back in the day but after replaying the first 3 after a decade of not touching them they seem very repetitive and samey. I still havent finished Gears 4 after 6 months. Too much of a chore lol
