I love this channel. Not even kidding or being a smart ass. I knew the second I saw those handle bars that they were getting painted. Not replaced new, not swapped out or anything like that. Straight up rattle canned. I know some of you all rip this dude up for stuff like that but the more and more I watch , I realize he is not trying to flip these things as complete rebuilds but just make them better than he got them. If you have owned a motorcycle two things have happened, 1) , you have crashed it at some point 2) you have had to work on it at some point. I'd say if he was going to keep it , those bars would be replaced or powder coated . Keep up the good work.
Nope, he doesn’t restore anything , he is uneducated about quads and bikes and does quick fixes on them for profit, I feel so bad for his uneducated customers expecting something half decent for there money that don’t really know How to inspect a bike when purchasing....and trusts the seller that the machine is okay

I would put more effort into the mechanical aspect of this build than the cosmetics. The top-end is obviously very sick and the carb needs serious attention. The rattle can spray jobs are painful to watch and are going to be very temporary fixes. I realize it's a chepo build, but you could get much better results with a bit more attention to detail.
I cringed so hard when you painted the rims, you didnt even sand them enough then you used wd40 as masking :P Edit: Why it doesnt shift is because you changed the shift lever, and you should really, REALLY find out what that whistling sound is before it kills your engine
First...great job putting in the work to take a non running locked up warrior and making her go. Suspect most of the negative commenters would not have put the work in and may not even know how to do what you did up to this point. Second...I do agree with other commenters that on this one...since costs are low and potential return on investment may be better with a solid engine tear down and rebuild...use this project to dig a bit deeper and show us all how to perform a engine tear down and rebuild. Believe whether you keep or sell...an engine rebuild on that old warrior will be time well spent. Appreciate the content...nice job putting the work in.
what a tough motor yamaha! after seizing up and ran with a oil filter full of shavings, and not so much as a compression test, leak down test or valve adjustment or even a basic carb tune .....its still going. lean and mean with the crank seal blown out lol but my money is on its blown up next video, if he checked the oil he would be scared....it stopped smoking lol he paints wheels like he cleans carbs and brake calipers lol cant stop watching, its like a cheap tim the tool man taylor that cuts every corner imaginable haha
Hey Joe looks good man and I like seeing all the kids in your comment section saying you should change this change that make this look better. you did it right man you got it running first you fix all the mechanical problems before you make it look good. that's how you do it I'd rather my machine run then look good and not run... and the shifter problem is definitely the adjustment on the linkage and that rattling noise your hearing is from The Recoil cover not being on most likely... but for a $200 quad dude it looks 100% better then when you got it people hating on you for the way you fix stuff they have to remember it's yours it's your quad you can do whatever you want to it lol if you want to replace the top end that's the only thing you should do if you want to being u fixed everything else...

Idle still way to high and seem like front brakes are on i ride min in way more snow with less spinning also put old shifter with new linkage if ya can
Tip for grips- use hair spray or spray paint to keep them locked on so they don’t twist.. or grip glue. Make sure to top oil off frequently if going to ride with engine needing work like that! Nice to see a piece of junk turn into a running machine, thought for sure it was never going to run without a rebuild.
To cleaning stuff up after sanding before painting, you can use ammonia. Doesn't cost sh*t . And to get off or put on grips, squirt some rubbin alcohol in them, it'll work even better. After it has vaporised they'll be solid. Btw i think she doesn't shift and makes that noise cause your clutch is worn

Next time you are taking grips off, use a box cutter (that is if you aren't going to re-use them). BTW, nothing on a Japanese quad is 7/16. It's all metric. I am hoping you know that, but didn't want to go looking for the correct size. Though as boogered up as that quad is, they probably just cranked an SAE nut on there. Your linkage is not correct, that is why it won't shift properly.

The compression release is made into the exhaust valve cover you need to check the spring on it 87-88 were the only years with pull start your shifter has to be for those years valves and carb need adjusted the knob on the bottom of the carb adjusts the idle
Joe. You did a Great Job with what you had to work with..Quad looks awesome for $200. But I think that Motor and Trans is Shot.. I think you need Engine Rebuild..
If you take the top end off make sure you check where the cam bearings seat these were bad about chewing up the bearing seat but 350 wolverine head and 350 raptor head will interchange as they're the same
I basically got one for free a 98 warrior Yamaha and the first thing i did was clean the carburetor it had like a frozen gel inside out and the float needle was frozen in it's slot i clean it took the grown needle out the hole put anther one from another carb but i Broke the tower for the float pin what the float goes connected too i gorilla crazy glued it just so i can put the cover on knowing the had will eventually eat it away but it was flooding the carb I've been trying to get spark but will only get some with the spark plug boot off i checked out with my volt ohm tester and it only had half the resistance that was recommended by a video i ordered a new carb and cool pack and CDI any suggestions i obtained this warrior through some work we did for a landlord were their evicted tenant left it behind so it's mine and i just wanna get it running so i can ride my kids on it and teach them how to operate a quad
Just add new gaskets and rings or something, freshen her up a tiny bit. Unless it’ll end up costing too much money, sell it and have someone else rebuild the top end if you sell it for $600
@@nolanhauge 87 & 88 had a recoil or pull start as a back up also the only 2 years for the manual compression release 89 and up do not have the pull start you can also remove the pull start assembly and swap in an 89 or newer side cover for a cleaner look one last note do some research before talking about things with today's technology it's easy

That quad has a reverse, should be on the right side under the tank, when your in neutral it pulls up and backwards, also you put the linkage back on wrong, that’s why your shifting is messed up, when you clicked it down you went up a gear, you basically made it GP shift like on high-end street bikes
that is the one way bearing stuck on. its spinning the starter. its suppose to be free spinning in that stator case. over time the starter will wear out. plus its smoking and tapping bad. she eont last long. I've fixed plenty of big bear 350s and kodiaks. I knew soons he tried to spin over engine starter was binding up.
youd need to remove that cover off stator. do a test with the flywheel if the back gear doesnt spin freely. youd need to replace it. that's probably why the pullcord ended up breaking because of that issue
@@2vintage I repair atvs for a living. that one way bearing is the killer of all starters and recoil ones. it also has alot of bounding up so pulling it over is a nightmare. that's why ur drill struggled because if it. not spinning freely. what's your facebook name? I'll help ya out more bro
If I had to guess I say it's not going into neutral because of you cobbling the WRONG shifter on it. Also the tubing on those handlebars is pinched at the bends. If anyone ever comes down hard on them, they will fold at that pinch point and severely injure whoever is riding it.

Nice videos turn the idle down and if it’s not that it’s an air leak, but fix it before you keep starting it and not letting it warm up properly because of the idle it will soon ruin it
Joe, You have done a really great job on this ATV. Looks a lot better, especially the handlebars. lol. Nice match up with the rims. Paint looks very equal. It only shows what a little time and patience can do. Well done! Only thing left is a seat, I guess. On to the Next Project.
Are you serious ive never seen such shoddy workmanship, no masking anything be4 paint, doesnt sand stuff down properly, the bars got 1 very light coat of paint, thats gonna fade fast!! To paint properly the wheels should be off to paint properly, the bars should have had 2 coats and then some clearcoat, hes just bodging his way through it!!.

The whistle is the sound of the pullstart flywheel thing were the pull start cover goes, they make that sound without the cover

Never seen him do more than take an engine side cover off or a top end off on a two stroke to send it to get re plated so i doubt he'll rebuild it

First thing I noticed is that it stopped smoking - its likely dry, best situation is a stuck ring freed up.

Use less air pressure when riding in the snow machine to work alright for me when I was ripping around in the deep snow

Whistling sound is where the starter recoil is off. When you put it back on it will not whistle anymore

Use compressed air to install grips. Put nozzle on end of grip and blow through small hole. It expands the grips and they go right on.

A 250ex is a recon 250 with different plastics. The motor is different on the 250ex than the 300ex

Nice video, reason it wont go into Neutral anymore is because the new shifter linkage had to be shortened up to fit and its out of adjustment now.

Try putting some Wd-40 on a scotch brite pad and scrub that rear axel that’s what I did with my 400ex and the rust came right off

That shifter is for 89 or newer try reading the comments I told you 87-88 shifter only unless you eliminate pull start

One last thing you can use the linkage from the new shifter on the old one that with some adjustments should solve shifting problems
Just adjust the linkage that connects to the engine. The shift lever should be under the pull cord case not bent to the side like that.

Put brake cleaner as a lubricant for youre grips next time because it will dry out withing like 10 mins unlike water takes a couple hours

Joe, You have done a really great job on this ATV. Looks a lot better, especially the handlebars. lol. Nice match up with the rims. Paint looks very equal. It only shows what a little time and patience can do. Well done! Only thing left is a seat, I guess. On to the Next Project.
Are you serious ive never seen such shoddy workmanship, no masking anything be4 paint, doesnt sand stuff down properly, the bars got 1 very light coat of paint, thats gonna fade fast!! To paint properly the wheels should be off to paint properly, the bars should have had 2 coats and then some clearcoat, hes just bodging his way through it!!.

@@dirtbike.drayke Yes it does that's not the point... It does not have a recoil so it is going to leave him stranded.. Putting a new starter in it will eliminate that happening..
never heard of using saopy water for the grips. you might want to try grip glue
