I do I just bought one a couple months ago
I love warriors, I have 6 in total, 3 r all complete
I have a 1987 that I have had for about 3 years and still have yet to ride it because it lost spark and I cannot find a CDI box for an 87 for nothing. 🤦♂️
I got mine not to long ago and I really like it it did have a couple problems but we fixed it and it's running great but everyone keeps telling me to get a faster quad
@@the_gixxer_mike Make sure that your stator is working proper. That was one of the Warrior gremlins that was hard to diagnose.
Right off the bat . This guy shows honest mistakes as he’s figuring shit out . Respect right there .
I have a 87 Warrior that I’ve own since about 97. Zero motor or tranny issues! Regular maintenance and they run forever!
I love watching you tear things apart Joe, and it's fascinating to see you breathe life back into those machines...keep up the great work, and keep these videos rolling.
You finally bought a manual impact driver to remove those screws! I'm so proud of you! ... and it's the same one I have from Amazon ...
Awesome! Good that you decided to fix it properly I was very interested in seeing what the noise was in the motor. .!
I grew up riding a 90 warrior. Looks like they had the cam chain tensioner already extended when they installed it. This would over tension the chain and cause it to rub hard on the guides. Better check the cam journals as well.
You really gotta test up and down play on the crank in more then one position. Should rotate it to a few different spots and test play. Think of how the needle bearings (wrist pin)work. In one position the needles are fine but the next needle over could be chewed up. I’ve actually seen it, not just spouting off, and simply an idea for one to use
Amazing find keep it up. 2 vintage was the inspiration to start💯
Since you took the head off, lap the valves, check to make sure none are bent, & check the valve springs for equal spring pressure. I would recommend to replace the timing chain as well may be stretched.
I bought a 97 couple weeks ago. currently rebuilding valves and everything trying to port it out
Nice!
Hello is there any way I can contact you , I just bought one and I need to ask a few questions about it?
@@edgarcandelas4548 i wish i could ship it to @2vintage i got into 2 bad accidents haven’t had the time to put the engine back together
Warrior wakes up alot with a full exhaust, K&N airfilter, and jet / tune carburetor.
Yea they do. The 90 I grew up on had a full dg exhaust and it sounds like a monster compared to most other warriors.
@@shanewilliams8768 sucks you had to grow up with a 90
K+n filter = valves being sand blasted,k+n are garbage
They didn't change much throughout the life of the warrior so the fact that it was a 1990 model didn't bother me at all. Plus the fact that a 90 warrior was still less than 10yrs old back when I was a kid.
My favorite part of Sunday mornings. Great videos, keep em coming.
i have one right now. it’s running off a bent valve and the crank makes a loud ass pop when you shut it off. and it still runs, no matter how hard i beat it. wish people knew about these more
This was my first quad I bought and saved for myself 2001 year I think, colour and everything the same haha. The warrior is a great quad, fun trail machine and reliable as any of the best out there. 6 speed and clutch makes for fun riding
Those are cool quads fun to trail ride my buddy had one and I had a raptor 350 he had 1 more gear then me but wide open down the road we were side by side another buddy had a 400 ex blew us away on the street but on curvy trails couldn't shake us cause we could stay wide open banging gears wen he had to let off to keep control off all his power
Those birds in background are the same ones outside my window at 415 a.m. every day .... tweetin bastards
Keep up these vids and constant uploads loving it 🙏 your doing a smashing job
It always great when 2vintage uploads 👍.
I agree Joe I've never had luck.with warriors. Either carb boots cracking or electrical issues.
Fuck really?
Yur gonna b a Master bike mechanic as many different bikes you tear down n rebuild!!! Awesome!
Just picked up a 99 with mint plastic and great frame and tires. Gonna run as good as it looks in the end. Nice video
She’s clean
I've had a number of warriors they make great beater trail quads I use mine to save wear and tare on my 450R Only issues I've had with my warriors is valves needing adjusted
One small bbrick under each wheel onside you're working on makes it so no oil gets wasted or messy. Could do with new rings and a light hone whilst apart. Cylinder looks bit glazed n shiny anyway
I'm really excited to see another warrior!
I'm not even going to watch this all the way before I make this comment it's not knocking. Check valve adjustment and timing. Warrior's are easy to work on
Sorry this is so late but on my warrior why cant i get the timing spot on its either barley behind or barley ahead???
@@owend_8 sounds like a stretched timing chain
@@owend_8is the quad starting?
@@duggahzombie4226 yea it'll start and run fine
I got a 99 Yamaha warrior have had it for 8 years now so reliable and never no issues idk about slow IV beat 400ex in races only issue I have is sometimes it pops into nutrol where the reverse is.
I got the same year and color of his I’m using his video too replace my side gasket since it’s leaking but mine has a 366 bb kit in it and I’ve also re geared it for more too end speed and I’ve raced my buddies 400ex and smoked him even in top speed they’re lots of fun
The term mint means factory new no wear condition.
There is nothing mint on it. That is a common term used by shady sellers of used merchandise, try to steer away from it unless it truly is mint.
I just did a total overhaul on my 2000 Warrior over the winter. The last owner dropped the valve adjustment locking nut in the head and just replaced it without retrieving the old one. I bought the machine for $1000 unknowing of the nut. After driving it around it stalled on me and wouldn’t start. Found the nut got jammed in a cam lobe which broke a valve guide and the cam sprocket. I ended up going through the whole motor to double check everything else. Turns out the piston clearances were on the cusp of too worn out so a Wiseco piston went in. Now it runs like a bat out of hell. Impressive for a 350cc. Hope yours works out for you in the end (and cheap also).
I’m looking at purchasing a quad right now. Polaris outlaw. He thinks the locknut fell in as it was missing. It starts up and is making a ticking sound .. so he says. He thinks it rubbing against the chain. Trying to decide if I want to take on the project. As it could be worse. Not sure if I want to spend the $2200 and not get anywhere. It’s a 2008 Polaris outlaw 525s. Looks mint but nervous about interior damage. Any advise for me?
If the locknut made it down the timing chain tunnel then you’re probably in for an expensive repair. If it made it to the stator at the bottom it can cause havoc because the stator is a huge spinning magnet.
My honest opinion, the market is cooling down so prices are falling. It’s not worth any more than $1500 if he can’t prove where the lock nut is and it has not caused any damage already. Just my advice.
@@frdmstnggt99 that’s what I was thinking. He has a few quads and he has sold a few as well. I think he probably knows it’s not worth it. I’d have to get it for a really good deal. A lot of time would have to go into it. He said that is has a screen protector below but he doesn’t know how far it could have gone. I’ve only worked on vintage bikes so not familiar with these motors.
@@LoudBarkDesigns I’d offer $1000 or walk. Not worth the headache.
@@frdmstnggt99 thanks. I may try that. I’m sure parted out id get more in a return for sure
Bro those valves have never been reset. Not surprising.. check it in 10hrs riding time. Got that poqer core 4 on ours snditsloud as hell, barely here yourself think. But plenty of power. Those do chew up guides... great vid... good luck with that. Got an extra complete top end for one. It'll run good, Joe... It'll bring in good chunk of change if needed.
Ive always wanted a Warrior, banshee or a blaster. Wish Yamaha made more models of quads other than the 450 and 700 raptor.
They made the banshee for 20 years in the United States. You should be able to find one no problem. I’ve got a 99. Forget the Warrior and blaster
Don’t ever buy a new 450. They r trash. My buddy works for a dealership and he said 90% of his warranty work is on the newer 450’s. Whole motor trash. He said Yamaha always pays tho.
Had an 87 I bought for 750 rode it for a year never put anything into it except gas sold it for 1000 in February warriors are solid quads
Blaster or banshee the warrior is never treated proper or maintenanced your likely to find more running of the later two
@@lanceromance5768 decided to save for one. I would rather buy a used Banshee than a new quad these days.
Good shit bro..I stay tuned in on your Channel I'm new to this with the four-wheeler trying to fix them myself I got three of them that I'm trying to fix right now one is a Yamaha Badger 80 cc u should may need to do one I can have some info on it thanks
Your the man!!! Always figuring out some the problems.
The starter on my 300ex before we fixed it we opened the starter up on it and the brushes were gone like there were none left
Balance shaft is millimeters clearance away from crank shaft. Timing can usually fix.
Firing these videos out joe awesome content great job diagnosis on the quad should be great when repaired keep up,the good work take care 👍👌🔧🔧🔧😀
I have the same year and color warrior! I had the one way bearing go in mine as well it would start unless you popped the clutch also had to change the starter out!
I think the noise is in the head.cam bushings .under a load the cam is moving up an down.
ive had a couple of these i must of been lucky never had any problems pretty reliable but they are underpowered turds but fun to ride on trails
They are great and anything can be repaired ! Including America and the world !!!! Anything is possible !!!!
I've always wanted to have one of these
Alright now I want to see a video on the moped
Just found your page. Really enjoy the videos. Thanks
Have you ever worked on a can am ds450? If you haven’t it would be so cool to see you fix one up.
Excellent can’t wait for the next episode thanks 🙏
Dam bro I wish you were in Houston, my Banshee needs a little work and I have the slightest clue on whats wrong with it.....
Great machine, if you take care of that she will be running good for the whole life
Please don't sell this quad its amazing
For the valve lash to be that far of something is wrong with the cam or rocker or valve. Unless someone adjusted it wrong
I think someone adjusted it wrong
Got exact one for free! Awesome bike grands love it almost as much as gramps! Got a 91XT350 as a kicker awesome nite out drinking scored big
Good luck getting that flywheel off. I just rebuilt my brother's 2003 warrior. Top end kit came with a new timing chain so I figured I'd replace it. Bought the tusk flywheel puller for it and nearly ruined the threads of the crank trying to get it out. Chain was still good so I gave up.
@Ian Mangham With a propane torch.
You're supposed to leave the crank bolt in when they're using that tool so you don't mess with threads up
Sounded like it has about.... 10psi compression when it was turning over!
if you mean when he was turning it over by hand, tha spark plug was not there
@@ezechielroy859 no I meant when he was turning it over via electric start button, maybe it was just because it was on video but sure sounded to me like low compression
@@caseyanderson1297 ok that was was i thought, but i thought the compretion sounded ok
Getting pretty good at this stuff 👍
Nice find dude 👍
The warrior 350 has one of the strongest most reliable motor Yamaha made
Looks like the one that's tras, the guy brought in with tack welded on flywheel, only 10 teeth left In One way bearing. For starters. Oh they're hell on stator too.
Replace both timing chain guides . And timing chain.
To think that any Warrior has been taken care of is a lie nobody takes care of of them yet they're still around 40 years later they're actually very reliable think of how many are still on the marketplace over any other machine. As far as the one-way gear all Yamahas have this problem me and my buddy found a company L&L Xtreme that makes a bulletproof one-way gear so far me and him have no issues starts up like butter . So far I have put 685 MI this season on my warrior we ride a lot usually three days in a row all day long. They are amazing Trail quads like riding your sofa through the woods.
Omg Joe did you finally invest into a impact driver? Because of my comment a few vids ago?
@vintage awesome video pop a new timing chain in her and your good to go
I see that tecate atc 2:09 those are awesome lol
I bought a really well taken care of one, a couple years ago. The thing was minty. When they are taken care of, and running good. They are a super fun machine. And easy for lazy guys like me that dont like kick start and no reverse 😅.
Haha nice! I have a 2000 Yamaha warrior that is mint !
I have a 2002 warrior and it is great
My warrior timing chain stretched, and the guides and gear I replaced. It still has a knock when initial start but goes away.
1100 is a steal. Plus it’s clean af. I have one but not as clean but it runs good
mine yamaha raptor 250 had a ticking sound at the timing chain guide was broken and the intake valve was broken in the end so i think thats the problem with mine
I always own one they are good bikes... JJ..
Whens the tecate 3 wheeler video? Haha
the one way bearings end up lockin up and keep the starter engaged and they have a counter balance on crank too i got one for 100 bucks dude put a aftermarket crank in it and i literally jus seated it by a hair and it was fixed after he thought it was locked up
it is in good condition only that the connecting rod almost comes out of the engine hahaha
Love da vids man
Thanks man!
Warriors are super reliable not the fastest but they are beasts. Throw a cam in there while you’re at it lol.
i have a 1987 warrior and it has no spark, only spark when let off of starter switch. replaced stator, cdi coil, spark plug
I love watching your videos, you are extremely talented. My warrior started to rev extremely high after ripping it at the trails for a few hours. Was starting up and working great. All of sudden crapped out. Checked intake and it was slightly broken off. And carb was slightly loose. Any idea what to do from here
I have a 2001 350 warrior the only problem I had with it so for was the starter
Just got one myself and it had 2 bent valves do not know how it happened but looking good so far
Nice, really clean awesome video
My dad had a Yamaha 350 warrior it was a 2004 that lasted him 16 years he sold it to his brother it was blue
I hear they are pretty reliable machines when they are running right.
@@2vintage the warrior 350 is still running like a dream
U r the best u tuber ever by the way c ya later
Definitely replace the timing chain tensioner I bet its bouncing while running thats why it ate it up
I remember the blue warrior it sounds exactly like the blue one with the starter issue
I had the same ticking sound cam got chunked had to rebuild it
That new oil looked very runny
The cheese is very runny today
Warrior knock, out of time a bit it's the crank 3:44 hitting balance shaft.
whats the reason the valves start changing distances ? once tied down shouldnt they be fixed?
Mine had a stuck valve that's kinda what it sounded like
Sounds like automatic tensioner for timing chain is too loose, and / or valve adjustment is bad, should be 0.8mm for intake and 0,8mm for exhaust.
I have a 1999 warrior very clean in excellent condition, it has a very small oil leak between the cylinder and block. Do I have to remove the motor to pull the cylinder and replace the gasket. Thanks
I bought a 2000 warrior for $1300 2 years ago and only problem it has was the rear axle bearing was bad and the stator was bad everything else was good, warriors have a small ticking sound coming from the engine that’s normal tho but your warrior ticking isn’t normal lmao but warriors run like a champ with a couple mods in it they keep up with the bigger quads
I have the same year warrior mine is stock and have really never had many problems with it
Worst part I own a 2000 model, it's cherry, but also very well maintained. The piece of junk the guy recently brought in to have us fix is a 2003, dame bike, they haven't really ever changed them much.
It looks good for the year
Yeah not too bad!
Sounds like the piston is tapping the head. Looks like someone did a top end with new piston and cylinder. Happened to me sounds just like that.
Nice quad
you should find a cheep yamaha moto 4 200 cc
I don’t think the seat is factory
Replace shifter with direct shifter
Dude counter balance is dead center right behind and above crank, you can see down in the gear box past it. It will lock up crank, seen it recently. Crappy design. The gear for it is under clutch top middle.
I have 87 Warrior love it.
Same thing here in Maine price’s are crazy
