- Tune REAL Drums Using Samples? Tuning a real drum kit requires a lot of skill and time to master. Drum samples on the other hand always sound great and are tuned perfectly. So what if we use drum samples to guide us on how to tune our drums? We can use drum samples as a guide in order to tune our drum kit for either home, live, or in the recording studio.

It is a handy trick. I’ve done it for a long time. I’m actually surprised there aren’t other videos on this. I looked and couldn’t find any.

Yea I don’t remember when I started using samples as a tuning guide. Prolly 12 or so years ago. I guess I just thought of it like using a guitar tuner in a way.
Lol yea I’ve been at this for over 25 years. I was the sound engineer at a local theater the summer before I even started high school… god I’m old lol.
