It appears that if you are burning the merfruit, the smoke despawns all mermaids in the area. With this logic, you might be able to feed the merfolk a merfruit to despawn your mermaid when tucking. This is backed up by the journal stating that the merfruit released the mermaid from its duties, so it could dive away.
@@Anonsloth26well this update is about traps, hiding and tucking and sirens don't have any affiliation in any of these things (at least not for now) ,so i would think that the most logical thing would be to despawn your mermaid because that is the only thing to give away your presence to the enemy when you are hiding

My guess is that by cooking and eating the merfruit, your mermaid despawns so it doesn't reveal that you're on the island. We're all going to have to get in the habit of throwing blunderbombs at our loot before trusting it.
I suspect there will only be the one trap but that the small recess in the center will allow you to add any of the three bombs to be triggered upon trap activation.
so i have a guy that was in my stream said that eating the fruit will make your mermaid disappear so you wouldn't have it any more. I said i think it will hide any enemy mermaids if you eat it that's my assumption because it does say "be carful what you eat"
Maybe the Merfruit either will either prevent Sirens from spawning on/near you, or even prevent them from attacking you, even if they spawn on someone else, Or consuming it will automatically summon a Mermaid to allow you to teleport back to your ship instantly, incase you fell off or got boarded and knocked off, and another player is keeping your ship just close enough for a mermaid not to spawn, but obviously too far away for you to ever be able to swim back to, thereby making the Merfruit an Anti-Trolling/griefing tool, specifically for solo players and smaller sized/lesser skilled crews
The teaser for the grapple gun (Board, Climb, Loot) it showcases a ships mast instead of any other part of the boat. Does this mean we may be only able to grapple to the mast as some people have suggested should be a change?

The merfruit will let you despawn your mermaid, increasing your level of stealth when tucking, thats the only thing that would make sense because of this being the "season of stealth"
I wonder if traps are a way to balance the upcoming harpoon gun. If each crew mate can drop a trap on the ship (that can’t be triggered by themselves or crew mates) that kills borders in one chomp of the trap 🤔, that would be interesting.

Feed the merfruit to your mermaid, and it will send it away "releaving it of its duties" and youre free to tuck with out being given away. Also, maybe my brightness isnt up enough, but the harpoon gun looks like it doesnt have a scope, would dig it if the gave us a rifle with iron sights.
I think the fruit has to be cooked because in the video, its purple while in the loading screen, its white. Maybe it despawns mermaids if its eaten and decently cooked🤔

I like what they're doing with stealth. My big concern...Is this an actual seasons worth of content? This feels very similar to the captaincy update. Where it's a cool update, but it didn't really add anything new to do in the game.

Lets be real we haven't had an actual seasons worth of content since the anniversary update all those years ago. The only thing that made other seasons half decent were good limited time events and mid season updates.
I just got back into the game. Does that mean the "4 weeks" on my plunder pass are only gonna be 2.5 weeks now or does the plunderpass not align with the seasons?
Im not very excited for this season. If they are only adding in new items, it means the only new thing to do is grind out commendations with those items. Looks like its gonna be a very boring season like season 12.

They are working behind the scenes to address the cheating problem, also, I play almost every day and it’s been around 3 months sense I’ve seen a hacker

My guess is the game is fully gonna brake next season, season 13 we had water bug in hg for way to long and a lot of cheaters and then we got pretty much free Athena ware recently with fishing rode and laggy as servers and more prob
Finally rare is listening to the community and adding content we have all been asking for! Not as if the game is a buggy mess and server stability is unplayable half the time. Sea of bugs is going to be running great after all this new content that nobody wants. The final nail in the coffin for an already dying game. Bug fixes and server stability is more important than all this crap
i'd care more for this game if the devs didn't keep shooting themselves in the foot over and over and over. gotten to the point where they are apparently banning people for even saying a cuss word. a cuss word. ???? that on top of the blunderbuss blunder (pun intended) and their horrible PR idk man. im sick of their corporate bs. theyve driven me and many other hardcore players away from this game.

@@NotPaperium Literally go back through videos on the SoT channel and look it up yourself. They have said time and time again that SoT is a family friendly sandbox experience that they want people to have fun and make their own adventures/stories in and that was the goal of the game. They never once tried to enforce a meta or force players to spend 500000 hours trying to “git gud” at. The Arena came out due to popular demand by a very small but very vocal “hardcore” part of the games community and Rare themselves said they were not interested in continuously updating it because very few players are interested in that compared to the casual players in Adventure mode(what high seas was at the time) Not only did Arena flop because the “hardcore” players are such a minority but Hour Glass fell off (partially because of bugs,glitchez, unfun strategies etc.) but also because nobody was playing it shortly after release. So, no. The game has never been intended for hardcore players that’s just a stupid lie sweats tell themselves to feel good about dumpstering new players who didn’t even know they were in a fight

This game isn’t intended for a hardcore audience it’s intended to be family friendly. They have been very clear about that since day 1
