I mean that would be its official naval term. A sloop is basically the smallest you can go before becoming a Dinghy. Technically though since this is a single masted vessel it would still be a sloop, but that’s semantics and Dinghy would be the perfect name.
One addition I would like to the design, if you can stow the mast, allow for oars for slower speed but quieter movement, especially since you probably can't fit a rowboat onto this tiny thing. Hopefully Rare sees this and likes the idea, considering the concept of the Burning Blade event was ripped from concepts posted to youtube on a larger ship design that wouldn't break the game. While I love sailing with my friends, I find lately due to conflicting schedules sailing solo is the only option, having a ship better tailored for exactly that (stealth and to some degree speed) would be ideal.
And it would be perfect for season 14 (for those who don’t know it’s a update about stealth and hiding and also crouching with other things I won’t spoil)
YES YES PREACH FALCORE. PREACH! WE NEED MORE DIVERSITY OF SHIPS, NOT BIGGER. JUST MORE. TALK TO EM. PREACH. YES. THIS IS WHAT I'VE SAID THIS GAME HAS NEEDED FOR YEARS.
What we NEED is improved server architecture and performance issues resolved before they add anything else, for the love of god stop adding garbage without addressing bugs that have existed for years and years.
I've had a dream recently that included a sort of "solo ship" it was smaller than a sloop yet bigger than a rowboat. It included one sail that you couldnt angle, some oars and a front facing cannon
Interesting... I had a dream that they added two types of rafts and an asian ship. Maybe I should write down some concepts for SoT ships... Honestly, I'd be fine if they kept the 4 player max rule, but added more ships that have different things to them. Here are some basic ideas for ships: Cargo Brig (3 People Max): Basically, this brig would have only four cannons, but would come trinket and chest storage built into the ship that can only be accessed by the crew. The only way someone else could get the items from the item storage would be by sinking the ship. There would also be a button to bring the stored items onto the top deck of the ship automatically so that they can be easily harpooned. Will update this reply later, as I need to do some things. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to suggest your own ideas too. :)
@@Sedulous32072i love that idea! Maybe it could come with a sort of crafting bench where you could craft yourself your own collector chest and crates, only requiring wood for it. I know sometimes i'm out doing some quests and get a lot of skulls and trinkets from them. In those times i always wished i had spare chests lying around in my ship to store those trinkets.
@@inspectorgoaty4693 Interesting idea! That idea could also be used for any ship as well, so yee. OH. Imagine they implement a playrr economy into the game, so players could sell items that they don't need for a little extra than they'd normally sell for in the trading companies.
@@Sedulous32072 I'm not too sure on the whole "storing loot away that can only be accessed by crew unless sunk" idea. It would take away from a big part of this game, which is tucking on ships and stealing one specific item, like a chest of fortune or something. Brigs also have 4 cannons as is. What you've described is a brig that, if crewed by a good crew, literally couldn't have something stolen from them. It takes away the "thieves" aspect of Sea of Thieves.
Fun idea, but given the current ship limits per server, and it's stealth abilities, it would make a lot of servers feel completely empty. They'd have to upgrade the maximum number of ships per server quite a bit to make sure naval fights don't die off.
Or have 3 or so slots seperate for solo sloops. Currently the max players is 24 per server, I don't think 27 or even 28 would cause too much more stress as they pushed it from 20 to 24 in the first place.
Or they could add balance, like make servers with the biggers ships and other with the smaller ones, but those with smaller ships gets more ship per server
@@jewelz4952 seperate the ship caps, so like maybe 2 galeons/server, 4 brigs/server, 6 sloops/server. and with this new ship idea if added id say 6 /server as well along sided the 6 sloops for a total of 18 ships per server
@@iammohammad123 Hey buddy, i know you might not play much of this game, but when you're not an antisocial tool it's actually incredibly easy to meet people in Sea of Thieves and even become friends with them
I LOVE this concept, so cool!!! Regarding the map and quest book, i think having the map next to the rudder could work (you can look at it while steering, like the helm compass, but still interact with it as normal to place waypoints). Similarly, the quest book could just be a book tucked away somewhere. For the sail, a single sail length and angle adjuster could save on space, rather than them being separate. The customisation chests could even be removed entirely from the ship, requiring you yo visit an outpost to change gear, or they could be stowed just in front of the helm. The lack of crow's nest means no flag box, but that could probably be placed on the mast to still allow solo players to make alliances and stuff.
Tbh I love this concept cause just imagine the shenanigans and how many more peeps would play solo just to have fun with this since leaving the ship doesn't make you a sitting duck as much
What I think the ships in sea of thieves really need are situational attachments that you can have installed to your ship by paying a shipwright. People had a lot of great ideas for some attachments, Jon Bardcore suggested a fishing net to help with gathering more fish, a great aesthetic for a fishing ship but also good for the Hunter's Call. Someone else mentioned a reinforced metal naval ram to complement ramming strategies. Mine was a diving bell that would allow players to get to sea shrines much more quickly. For your case Falcore, perhaps an attachment which allow npc skeletons/ghosts to help you man the ship just like The Burning Blade and it's obsidian crew. With attachments the sky would be the limit on what they could add to help the players out based on a given situation.
I don't typically watch Sea of Thieves content, but you put up such a compelling argument at 1:58 I had to comply. I will now binge the rest of your content. Cheers, good sir. 🏴☠
I hope the player base actually tries to get rare to listen and add these, the design is perfect for solo and what the seas need especially when having to solo sloop in a match with a burning blade usually filled with a gallon full of people who want to hunt you down
yeah, as although, go against any ship ya dead, it makes being a pirate more piraty, go in stealthaly to a fotd or fof, steal good loot, and just go awway quickly, meaning u can stow and what not, and with forts, as u can enter the thing, when they beat the thing, aim your cannon to the stairs or the hatch, and when they pop down with they key, KABOOM, you take the most important loot and go before they can respawn
Yeah, that seems like a pretty good arrangement for solo play. Although me personally, I would make it a little faster than a sloop but with a wake at top speed that makes it much easier to spot.
I would go the other way. The gameplay would be different, you are trying to use stealth. If you fail and are pursued, you use the tighter turning or dodge into small spaces, otherwise, the other ships are faster and you are sunk.
@@The_Landshark I mean, logistically, it would absolutely make more sense for the little ship to move faster, but I see your point. I feel like as a nice compromise, it should be faster than all ships against the wind and slower than all ships with wind, which is the way the current sloop works. The smaller the sail, the less wind resistance, the faster it moves against the wind. This would also force larger ships to take more strategic angles to catch wind and cut you off, which is a fun game of cat and mouse.
Ships in bottles! It would be a perfect combination, I think having the option of a seller who offers you to exchange your ship for another of a different type including captained ships, a bottled ship, an object that you throw into the water and your new ship emerges from the water. advantages... You could recover your supplies, after hours of games. When your companions leave and you are alone, you could use a bottle and change as you wish which ship you will use for your next challenge.
Love the concept. I think it's important to be able to bail out water to save your ship from sinking. Going to need boat sounds for "rowboat damage" if not. Maybe 4/6 total "holes" or "cracks" and it sinks? I think it's going to need holes, but they would all be exposed on the deck (no turtling). How many and where for proper balancing would be the kestion. Folding mast would be awesome, but possibly tough to implement and perhaps another strain on the servers. Hoping your next-gen prediction comes true.
I think stowing the mast would easily be implemented by using the existing code for downed masts. Raising and lowering should be the same speed for balancing as it'd be on top of the cannon anyway, preventing its use. 1 speed, on/off basically with no sail direction changing. It would make it a lot easier for newer players to learn the mechanics of how repairs are done too
I did concept art for something similar to this! I had it so that the boat had one swivel cannon (like the row boat version) on each side, a single harpoon off the bow, a small stack of three barrels similar to the cannon barrels on a galleon, but 1 is food, 1 wood, one ammo, and a little tiny captain's cabin with a bunk bed, having all of the customization chests stashed beneath it as "drawers". I also put a mini map table on the quarter deck, similar to the burning blade. Very similar in concept, but still closer in spirit to a tiny pirate ship rather than just a flimsy boat.
I think putting the customization chests might make it too cluttered. You could maybe have a little customization box with all of the different options though
Still I wish for new Boat types. Bet they will never come. RARE can not even make Sloop/Brig wrecks a thing. But hey in the legend of the veil, there is a wooden aircraft carrier wreck
Not "can't even" but don't even. Because sloop brig wrecks serve zero purpose to gameplay. They would be smaller with possibly less random loot on board and a burden on servers.
I like most everything! I only have two suggestions. 1. Call it a Skiff. 2. Have the option to row it, like a rowboat. Not only would that give you additional mobility when the mast is stowed, but you can speed up a bit with the sails! The ballance is that because you're actively rowing, you steering is limited, and you can't man the cannon or shoot back, while you are relatively exposed.
I would love exactly this, including a collapsible mast, but add oars to it too which can be used with and without the sails. It gives you a speed boost when sailing and it allows you to pull the ultimate invisible stealth mission with no sails
I love this, I've always talked about how I wanted piraguas(actual pirate boats, as common as sloops) in the game. And I made the same theory you did. Only, mine was in a discord with buddies, never really getting too deep. I love your idea, Rare really needs this!
I think it would be cool if whilst solo slooping you got a skeleton helper who repaired and bailed for you but could be killed temporarily. That way you only have to focus on cannons and steering really
Rathen than having the raised areas at the front and back simply take up space, I propose to have a little bit of room underneath both of them. The one at the back would have a vertical map, like a mini version of the fortress maps, with a small quest table in front of it. (thus eliminating the need for making the quest table and map into items). The back area could also then hold a single food barrel and one burner stove, and the area in the front could hold a single cannonball barrel and plank barrel each. (Making it so the resources are stored like in rowboats would make it unfair to other players as the resources inside rowboats don't float neatly inside barrels when they are sunk, like the resources from ships do).
Everything is perfect! I would include oars to be used with/without the sail. Furthering its maneuverability giving slightly more speed, aiding escapes, tight spaces and giving extra players on the ship more utility. And a ladder or rope on the mast just for the same use as the crows nest.
I love the idea a lot! Hopefully the devs may see this video and reconsider adding it to the game later on! Also, it's just a funny idea. Imagine being hit by a single cannon ball and your ship rapidly begin to sink. Imagine the Pirates of the Calibrean 1 scene here, when jack's tiny ship just sunk right before docking. Yeah, that's how can I imagine how most players would joke with the new ship.
I had ones a similar idea is just been long canoe with similar amenities with rest of the ships, with exception of ditching the cannon for a hand mortar or a swivel gun in the middle. The canoe will be the fastest and most agile ship, while also so being the most fragile. Another interesting concept is having a version of the Drebbel submarine in the game. The first version was a ship crewed by 2-3 people will have all the expected facilities for the ship except for the cannon which will be exchanged for a hand mortar and having one harpoon gun. Like the Drebbel will rely on the rows for underwater propulsion and on surface a small collapsable sail for surface navigation and instead of a wheel a simple rudder. For offense the ship will be like a mine layer, but with gunpowder barrels which you can ignite them let them float to the surface against enemy ships. The second version was as a rowboat. Will be simpler than one above. Both versions will have have a barrel on the surface for air supply and if destroyed will cause suffocation for the crew.
A very well thought concept. I'd certainly like to play at that ship as a solo. Although I don't think an advantage of shooting to the front would be a bad idea since it is still just a one cannon against 4 people of a galleon. They have snipes after all.
I love this idea. Slooping by yourself is possible but is a rough time when fighting other players. I would 100% sign a petition for a smaller 1 person boat. Idk how I feel about the layout you suggested I feel like we could get 3-4 ideas on a board and vote as a communtiy
I like your concept! In some ways it kind of reminds me of the ship we first see Jack Sparrow sail. I like that you could lower the sail and the mast. In terms of cosmetics treasures, I think there would still be plenty of places you could fit things. On top of that it would be wicked fun to watch someone stream on a solo ship that you described. I want the ship you described. In terms of cosmetics, Rare could let us use the same canons, sails albeit a bit smaller, hull colors etc.
Mate just made the game single player friendly… i like it. It’s a very viking-esk ship and i (like many others I’m sure) would love to see different types of ships. Rare should listen to you.
I had a similiar idea myself but the anchor sail management and tables would be on the deck while above would be a crows nest with a wheel for turning up front and then a 180°-220° swivel cannon on back (my thoughts where that since its a slow vessel compared to the bigger ships then it will need a way to discourage people from chasing it so a cannon that can shoot behind the ship makes it the perfect solo ship) Oh and having wheel/cannon up top is since its such a small ship that itll need a bit of a height boost so it can actually hit shots/see in choppy water. Plus makes it easier for the driver to also ve spotter if they can remain in a crows nest
I am 100% on board with this! Solo slooping is fun and all but can get overwhelming, even with keybind shortcuts. Hope they see this and consider it. No crew can join. Truly solo experience.
Superb idea and design, with the amount of solo sloops, I can't help but think this would make alot of servers seem empty, so would only be workable with more players per server
i really like this idea but i think it should have wheel instead of a rudder because i think you could probably make space for it and it’s just nice to have a wheel
This is an amazing idea, I think there is a bit more small shtuff to work out, but I’d love something like this, if they did this I wish it could be faster than the Brig at normal speed, but slightly slower than the sloop against the wind. A perfect balance.
Good idea! I also like to have more creeks or small caves that you can only enter with a rowboat. Let's keep on pushing good ideas, maybe RARE will pick them up someday!
Great idea Capn, been sayin the same for quite a while now. Thank you! Give more speed to compensate for being one cannon shy (maybe) mostly tho may I suggest a Lateen style sail instead of ole squarepants that we use now. While we're at it...lets add oars, that would be cool with a collapsible mast. Ultimate stealth! Tucking should now become a more serious thing...I think this would be really good for the game, and would make becoming a Capt much faster for new players...assuming this boat is now very affordable as opposed to the 'entry' price of a sloop. Mix this with the sneaky sneak update that is coming at the end of the year...oh my! Before I continue grog is NOT frothy! Grog is a daily ration of watered down rum. Back to biz. As the Capstan is thy bane, hearing "A frothy tankard of Grog" is mine. Last item. Give Capt's a frickin storage crate for Pete's sake! (sorry had to get that out) Side thought...put mild weight restrictions on vessels to have more people sailing about to unload what they have accrued (Limited stacking of sorts) It's the skull of siren song thing to encourage PvP. In other words if you are running heavy (loot stacking...still an option!) you would naturally be running slower. The old salts need a challenge lol, just a thought. Wonderful post as always Capn...carry on sir
Interesting idea, would maybe give it a try, however I would still solo sloop because I just love to pimp my ship. Ship variety in styles would be really a big plus for the game. Not a new ship for a différent crew size per say but new kinds of vessels tayloring them a little more for your kind of gameplay
Might i suggest one more compliment aboard the ship? I dont like that i have to shut the game down early in my night in order to plug in assassin's creed 4, so that my crew can sing to me before bedtime irl. Could we get a coconut radio that piped music? It could have one of three channels, either sea shanties sung by a full crew compliment, bob marley 24/7, or just a rotation of the existing SOT songs played by all the instruments? Sometimes, a pirate just wants to fish and listen to music.
instead of the centre cannon, you could have two small mounted cannons that cannot fit the player mounted at the front where harpoons would be on the sloop. rear of the ship has a small shelf with map on top at the left corner and another small shelf with hourglass on the right corner. the centre of the ship (where the cannon was) would house 3 small crates lashed together for wood food and cannonballs. holes would be two on the left, two on the right, one at the rear below the harpoon, and three more on the actual deck itself (as there is no second level)
Tuckers, rejoice, a vessel concept that favors your playstyle has been presented xD You could actually allow it to shoot front: the back of most ships is usually the least vulnerable part, you're most likely outnumbered by your opponents anyway and they can just hop in the water and board you easily. They can also snipe you since there's nowhere to take cover. If it's considered "too op", they could have the canonshots affect sailing direction and speed, giving you more variables to take into consideration. Give it a rowboat-like storage and for customization, make it slightly wider and longer and you can have a wheel and an anchor without affecting much of it's function. A figurehead is gonna be more complicated though. You can have 1-2 lanterns on ship, more than enough to light up the whole thing when you want your hands to be free. Make the boat invisible to reaper 5s on the map as an emissary and remove those shameful higher seas. One big problem with this is how to handle death-respawns-spawncamps. You're most likely sinking if you die to a player, but if you get back on your ship and there's no upper/lower deck, you're getting spawnblundered 100% of the time, especially if you load in a little bit earlier than your pc can follow (happens to me a lot).
Swap the ladder for rigging up either side allowing a couple of vertical positions to spawn at and allowing a raised position to attempt ship to ship boarding since it is so much lower than the others
The thing I would REALLY love, well 2 things. 1. Stuff I can spend my millions of gold coins on. 2. Searchable emporium that also sells some items for gold coins.
This is an interesting idea, my idea was to be able to recruit npc crew to man a vessel (with a bit less efficiency than full player crews). So if you're solo but REALLY want to sail a galleon you could recruit up an NPC crew with the option for the game to automatically replace an NPC crew mate when/if you got in a real player. You would also have to pay these NPCs, so it would make for an interesting gold sink. These could also be endlessly monetizable as another cosmetic category as well as some nice rewards for completing tall tales or reaching certain thresholds in the various factions.
Here's my idea. Take the sloop. Make the upper deck a little larger and put the cannons between the wheel and capstan. Remove the cargo hold so it's lower in the water but keep the now slightly larger cabin. Instead of a flooding hold the deck walls break and fill with water. Since there's no ceiling you can just toss it out.
The Dingy, as I'll call it, is a really interesting idea. Making the map an item you can carry, but only for a single-person ship? Chef's kiss. Simplified storage, a mast that can drop on command, a back-facing harpoon? Each a stroke of genius! The Dingy is a wonderfully balanced approach to a true solo ship. I only have two suggestions: Once the sails are dropped you can use a pair of oars (which are slower than normal oars), and make the "ladder" just a rope with knots near the base (I just think it would look neat).
You know what would be a great idea for this true solo ship. A fore-aft sail. Makes for a more maneuverable boat and more realistic for one that small.
I had a similar idea! I called it a "catboat". It's a slightly larger rowboat but has a single mast that can be lowered. Same idea as the storage locker but I had a single cannon in the rear and a harpoon in front (which also served as an anchor in the shallows). The rear cannon was so that you can fire on chasing ships as you skeddadle out of there. Also it kept the oars, so you can get close to places without your sail giving your position away.
It needs triangle sails, one tied in the bow and one in the stern. It would give better visibility when sailing (as you are seated in the stern), and make a smaller profile when sailing towards someone. You would be able to manipulate the sails independently, like raising the front sail to increase all around visibility when firing a cannon. It would require a different sailing method that would be more akin to real sailing with tacking and what not, but I think that would be fun.
Personally, id model it after a small skiff. But all of those features you mentioned. Mast near the bow, that isnt retractible. But a sail that when raised goes higher than the mast like a skiff. With a dropped sail, the shorter mast will not catch a lot of eyes. To get a good image, look for Goat Island Skiff :)
I really like this concept of solo ship, maybe with a small map on a stool placed in a corner at the back of the ship instead of a big map on a table. With the stool no need to create new inventory items, just some new models. And it's been a long time since I played but in my memories, we can see what quest the other players do if we board them and look at they quest table. So if the stool is big enough for the small map and a little empty space where we can put the quest parchment, other crew can still look at your quest.
Almost my idea for a whaling boat (yes, I think whaling should be a voyage for Hunters) except, the harpoon has a 200 degree swing at the bow, the cannon is mounted astern with a 90 degree swing. Being lightweight, it can move faster than as sloop. It can be harpoon-tethered to a larger vessel in your alliance and towed behind. A stern mounted cannon is for aiding in ending a pursuit. It makes challenging maneuvers necessary for pursuers and interesting scenarios around rocks and islands. The whaleboat's gun sets it up as a defensive boat primarily but as you said, can be offensive only as stealth boat.
Love the idea! The only thing I'd change is make the cannon face aft (with a narrow arc) so running is the only option, and make the harpoon mounted on the bowsprit. I'd also make this a jib-sail design (like the sloop SHOULD be). Otherwise this whole idea is brilliant!
I would love to see an advanced sloop, with 3 sails (mainsail, jib, and spinnaker). The pros : fastest ship in the game. Cons : it has a boom that swings across the ship with wind direction changes and knocks you off the ship if your not paying attention. So it's quick, but very demanding to sail :) Also, really want a music box on the ship haha
This is a cool idea, especially the ability to lower your own mast to hide. The potential it would have is amazing for stealth play and tucking on forts, however on the other end it looks like if you get caught though you're completely screwed. Since this ship would be really small you could get spawned camped to death by bigger crews and if you can't bail out water that would be very difficult to fight with and may create more runners, but this design is supposed to be for a stealth ship, not a combat one.
Love your idea. Creat concept. As a solo - i can relate to what you said. When fighting AI ships, i do feel like a multi tasking god however against a decent 2 person sloop a 1 person sloop stands no chance head on.
This is spot on ! I've been playing since season 3, actually about the only game I play, I've dreamed the whole time of a smaller low profile solo boat. This one is even better than I imagined. RARE. PLEASE TAKE NOTES !!!!!!
my crew used a grapple rowboat to steal all the loot from the Burning Blade while it was captained by an opposing crew. We latched to the rudder and had someone constantly holding R to keep it locked in place as the others boarded, killed, grabbed loot, and jumped off the back onto our boat, we kept an ammo box and plenty of supplies in the storage box on the rowboat. Was great. But to answer his question, I made a suggestion very close to what he described here, but prior to Arena ever being shut down, so if I see this concept come to life in the game it would bring such great times and joy to being a solo again.
I appreciate your work here, but how are we going to repair the hull? Honestly, as a solo slooper, I have no issues on a sloop. It just takes experience is all.
One thing that would be cool to add is if it could be docked like a dinghy. So when you spawn in its not in the water but in the dock. It could also make some stealth missions easier since you could just dock on their ship. Or if you do make a friend you could dock and join thier vessel but not have to leave your ship behind.
Id love to see more range in ship purposes. One thing skull and bones did have was the variety of weaponry on a ship, not just with ammunition. Some tasks may require more Towing power (hunters call update? Hauling dead beasts or certain large pieces to a hunters call vicinity) Some may have more defence but limits the visibility and angle of the cannons (Flying Dutchman) etc.
"Capstan needs to be off center to... There we go!" My OCD for the alignment of the capstan shivers. Also this would be perfect with a viking body and clothing release.
This is exactly what i wrote in a comment a few months ago This would be SO cool. I really like the idea of being able to be stealthy and drag your boat up the beech
This sounds amazing. The option for a fragile but stealthy ship would be so much fun, and really fits in with the latest season theme. I'd even be happy to lose one or both of those cannons - which would cut the ship out of PvE naval combat but let's be honest if it's fragile as fuck for balance then you ought to be avoiding naval combat content anyway. Lose the cannon(s) to make space for a quest bench to keep the UX consistent and this would be amazing.
The thing about solo ships is that the sloop has been tuned continuously for solo use for quite some time now. Its respawn timer, sinking and bailing rate, mobility, layout, event health scaling and more are all tuned for solo play specifically. It is, already, the solo ship. What the game needs is a dedicated two-person ship, as two people on the sloop with its current tuning is the equivalent of a six person brig or eight person galleon, with none of the communication issues that entails. And Rare deemed 5-crew galleons overpowered, so no wonder it dominates with competent crews in ship-to-ship combat.

YES YES PREACH FALCORE. PREACH! WE NEED MORE DIVERSITY OF SHIPS, NOT BIGGER. JUST MORE. TALK TO EM. PREACH. YES. THIS IS WHAT I'VE SAID THIS GAME HAS NEEDED FOR YEARS.
I want the little ship!
What we NEED is improved server architecture and performance issues resolved before they add anything else, for the love of god stop adding garbage without addressing bugs that have existed for years and years.
@@Kittari13 if this smaller ship is more performant than a sloop, it may end up helping more than it hurts.
@@Kittari13 UE5 and better servers do need to come first. u right, the game is pooping itself. its a house made of cards rn u right.
You and me both!
Here are some basic ideas for ships:
Cargo Brig (3 People Max): Basically, this brig would have only four cannons, but would come trinket and chest storage built into the ship that can only be accessed by the crew.
What if the brig (little jail cell) in galleons and brigantines can be upgraded with a cargo hold that stores loot for like 250,000 gold
This will never happen because its actually a good idea and would add new and interesting gameplay to the game. Great work falcore
Well it's already beyond empty
Or they could add balance, like make servers with the biggers ships and other with the smaller ones, but those with smaller ships gets more ship per server
@@jewelz4952 seperate the ship caps, so like maybe 2 galeons/server, 4 brigs/server, 6 sloops/server. and with this new ship idea if added id say 6 /server as well along sided the 6 sloops for a total of 18 ships per server
@@iammohammad123 Hey buddy, i know you might not play much of this game, but when you're not an antisocial tool it's actually incredibly easy to meet people in Sea of Thieves and even become friends with them
YES! This looks like a Viking longboat which would be REALLY cool!
Exactly what I thought when I saw this video
Is it sad to say that Skull and Bones handles the ship type/class situation better?
@@hiddendesire3076 yes it truly is
Yeah, that seems like a pretty good arrangement for solo play.
It would make it a lot easier for newer players to learn the mechanics of how repairs are done too
I can see this Dingy concept becoming a new meta of sorts.
5:02 I was already on board, but man this but the whole harpoon to shore stow and go is so damn cool
You’re dedication to this game and your concept ideas are outstanding. Thanks for all ya do, and having a great sense of humor too!
Pure genius
Still I wish for new Boat types. Bet they will never come. RARE can not even make Sloop/Brig wrecks a thing. But hey in the legend of the veil, there is a wooden aircraft carrier wreck
Not "can't even" but don't even. Because sloop brig wrecks serve zero purpose to gameplay. They would be smaller with possibly less random loot on board and a burden on servers.
What about brig skeleton ships
@@orbit1894 who cares about the loot? I just dont want to see the same stuff over and over.
They can’t because of hardware & Engine limitations
@Stellar289 they can. They have the model ready for scuttling to a new sea....
I haven’t played since the open beta, but videos like these keep popping up in my feed. I think it’s a sign.
I would love exactly this, including a collapsible mast, but add oars to it too which can be used with and without the sails. It gives you a speed boost when sailing and it allows you to pull the ultimate invisible stealth mission with no sails
Incredible level of thought and consideration put into this idea Falcore. Love your videos, keep it up.
This concept is actually really well thought out and i think it would make a fine addition
This is such a good idea, it would be an amazing addition when they overhaul Hunters Call 👌 great concept! I’d be all over it!
Honestly want this far more than a new boat.
After all, with only one person on board it's already a Skeleton Crew
That's actually a very good idea.
This is everything id ever want in a solo ship, I would even be prepared to not have a cannon, map, and weapons locker to have this
Everything is perfect! I would include oars to be used with/without the sail. Furthering its maneuverability giving slightly more speed, aiding escapes, tight spaces and giving extra players on the ship more utility.
And a ladder or rope on the mast just for the same use as the crows nest.
Absolutely perfect. Been wanting something like this for a few years.
As a relatively new, part time solo slooper, I would love to this this in the game. Great work!
Falcore this concept is BLOODY AMAZING like this would be a great addition to season 14
This is a really great concept I'd love to see this in the game one day
*I mean, cool idea, but I would ofc STILL use the duo ship alone, cause its just SO SATISFYING to walk around on this BEAUTIFUL ship!!!!*
A very well thought concept. I'd certainly like to play at that ship as a solo. Although I don't think an advantage of shooting to the front would be a bad idea since it is still just a one cannon against 4 people of a galleon. They have snipes after all.
Cool concept! I especially liked the folding mast idea.
This is sooo good! I'd love to have a single player boat because I play often alone when my friends have no time. Please make this happen.
I had a similiar idea myself but the anchor sail management and tables would be on the deck while above would be a crows nest with a wheel for turning up front and then a 180°-220° swivel cannon on back (my thoughts where that since its a slow vessel compared to the bigger ships then it will need a way to discourage people from chasing it so a cannon that can shoot behind the ship makes it the perfect solo ship)
Oh and having wheel/cannon up top is since its such a small ship that itll need a bit of a height boost so it can actually hit shots/see in choppy water.
Thank you!
Give more speed to compensate for being one cannon shy (maybe)
mostly tho may I suggest a Lateen style sail instead of ole squarepants that we use now.
(sorry had to get that out)
Side thought...put mild weight restrictions on vessels to have more people sailing about to unload what they have accrued (Limited stacking of sorts) It's the skull of siren song thing to encourage PvP.
I love the idea! But what also be cool if you could attach it to all galione. Like a rowboat
instead of the centre cannon, you could have two small mounted cannons that cannot fit the player mounted at the front where harpoons would be on the sloop.
rear of the ship has a small shelf with map on top at the left corner and another small shelf with hourglass on the right corner.
the centre of the ship (where the cannon was) would house 3 small crates lashed together for wood food and cannonballs.
holes would be two on the left, two on the right, one at the rear below the harpoon, and three more on the actual deck itself (as there is no second level)
I think you have a really great idea. You are on to something great for sure!
Tuckers, rejoice, a vessel concept that favors your playstyle has been presented xD
You could actually allow it to shoot front: the back of most ships is usually the least vulnerable part, you're most likely outnumbered by your opponents anyway and they can just hop in the water and board you easily.
An emergency water pump. By the main mast would be really nice
Cool. I would be happy to try it. Properly would still use sloop, but it seems really cool! Especially the map and questing.
I think it's a great idea. I hope RARE takes note and includes it in the not too distant future. The game needs to be alive!
I would love to see an advanced sloop, with 3 sails (mainsail, jib, and spinnaker). The pros : fastest ship in the game.
Cons : it has a boom that swings across the ship with wind direction changes and knocks you off the ship if your not paying attention. So it's quick, but very demanding to sail :)
Also, really want a music box on the ship haha
This is a cool idea, especially the ability to lower your own mast to hide. The potential it would have is amazing for stealth play and tucking on forts, however on the other end it looks like if you get caught though you're completely screwed.
Since this ship would be really small you could get spawned camped to death by bigger crews and if you can't bail out water that would be very difficult to fight with and may create more runners, but this design is supposed to be for a stealth ship, not a combat one.
YES. Perfect for stealth plays and fishing.
This sounds distinctly like the sloop in Sail VR! That is made just for solo players, and works very well at that purpose!
Love it. Ive gone the row boat option many times this would be brilliant
It would fill up so fast, but honestly, this would be absolutely perfect for new and returning players
100% needs to happen... amazing concept
This is what we call an optimist. It’s a dinghy with the exact shape and size you described
Yoo this would be fun !!! great idea once again Falcore, sometimes it feels like you should work at Rare.
I think a very small area below deck would be good just for the map and anything else
Great concept
even just being able to change ships to fit more people during a session would be great, some kind of ship in a bottle would make a great cutscene.
Id love to see more range in ship purposes. One thing skull and bones did have was the variety of weaponry on a ship, not just with ammunition.
Some tasks may require more Towing power (hunters call update? Hauling dead beasts or certain large pieces to a hunters call vicinity)
Some may have more defence but limits the visibility and angle of the cannons (Flying Dutchman) etc.
This would be an insanely good idea I think, this could be really really fun to play with
I think a better idea would be if every under-crewed ship gets 2 respawning skeletons per missing crewman
I really like this idea. Make it so they can shoot the cannons, help to raise the anchor, and maybe even board up holes for you
The main concern would be other pve encounters, like the Kraken or Megs, it'd be an interesting concept.
"Capstan needs to be off center to... There we go!" My OCD for the alignment of the capstan shivers. Also this would be perfect with a viking body and clothing release.
A small sail on any of the current dinghy’s would be amazing.
This is exactly what i wrote in a comment a few months ago
This would be SO cool.
Also make it so when u go to an outpost u can change ship size so when your friend logs on you can play
