Chad is absolutely a class act and truly a man among men . God bless you brother!
I am a 62 year old man from rural Ohio that is dying from cancer and I love seeing traditional archery make a comeback! I started shooting a recurve bow at age 11. At age 13 I begged my dad for a compound bow and he said no because my 45 Lb Ben Pearson recurve bow would kill any deer that a compound bow would kill so right then I swore I would buy my own compound when I was 17 years old and moved out on my own
At age 17 I graduated, got a job in a brickyard and moved into my own rental home and found out that extra money for a new compound bow did not, as my old man said grow on trees. I finally had enough money to buy a compound bow and within 6 months after buying my compound bow I put the bow away and grabbed my old recurve bow and never thought twice about using a compound bow again.
My two sons started with a recurve bow and my youngest son did like I did and wanted a compound bow at age 14 and I told him no because his recurve bow would kill any deer that a compound bow would kill.
My youngest ended up buying himself a compound bow and now at age 29 he has all of the latest wizz bang gizmos and a top of the line, expensive compound bow. My oldest son still shoots a recurve bow and homemade cedar arrows that I taught my boys how to make from the 50 dozen Port Orford cedar shafts that I bought years ago at a hell of a good price
Many good sized "Buckeye Bucks" have been dropped by these homemade arrows but the best part is that teaching my kids at a young age how to be self sufficient has carried on to this day and they both love being hated by the seditious left for being able to provide for themselves, their families and helping their neighbors.
Everybody should be prepared and ready for the imminent shitshow that is just over the horizon and may God bless all of the freedom loving people of the world
I'm sorry to hear that you're terminal. I have health issues and have seen a lot of children die from cancer, while I was hospitalized, each time. I'm happy you got to live to be 62, I most likely won't. I'm happy to even be 38. Shouldn't have lasted past 20. I hope your time on this earth is as painless and peaceful as possible and I hope that if you have children and grandchildren, that you get as much time with them as possible. I'm excited for you that you soon get to go on and see what's next. I've died before and I'll say there is definitely something there. I met these beings of light and all you could see was their outline. It scared the crap out of me. I didn't know who I was, or where I was. I don't believe that you take the memory of this life with you. I do believe in God and am not sure where that experience fits in the order of things when you die. I always thought you were basically just asleep until judgement, but that experience showed me that some part of you goes on to somewhere that seemed like spirit being were there to receive you and prep you for whatever was next. I hope you've lived a fulfilling life and have an immense peace of mind when you start to transition. That Ben Pearson is going to make an excellent family pass down. Hope whoever gets it, treasures it in your memory. God bless you and yours.
@@SheepdogColumbusGents, both of you should post your town/city. Maybe someone can meet up with y’all if anyone is close.
must be some cherished memories for sure
God bless you sir.

Thank you very much. This does mean a lot to me and God bless you too
Great to know you’re a fellow Trad guy. Nice shooting and beautiful bow.
The most real and inspirational dude on you tube
Was gifted my uncle's old 70's vintage Bear Kodiak recurve after he passed this spring; and for this 30+ year compound hunter, what a humbling journey it has been. Thanks for the video.
Absolutely agree with Chad! Compound bows become "easy" really quickly. "Bare bow", ie no balances, no spirit level, no sights, no clickers; just a bow; is a far more skilled, has far more practise requirements, and in my humble opinion, is more honest archery. Great post brother!
I'm 77 and I "hunt" my 3-D turkey with a longbow. Zero interest in a compound bow, although I'm sure they require skill. I just never liked the look of them, whereas the longbow is a thing of beauty--until they are tricked out with all kinds of refinements. I like the way a clean, unadorned traditional bow makes my brain, my eyes, my hands work together. Keeps me young. Thanks for the video!
I hear ya about compounds……recurves or longbows are truly a challenge and so rewarding. Keep it up guys great show!👍
As a traditional archer for the last 4 years I’m pretty stoked to see you shoot trad. Too many things in my mind to shoot gap for me.
Now we are getting to the real deal!
Glad to see that you like to shoot archery
Big fan of Dan Toelke out of Ronan, Mt. I shoot most of my arrows in my yard at flowers, weeds, and other small things that may be on the ground. No range finder just concentration and release. It’s my zen.
I shoot them all. Crossbow, compound, recurve and longbows.
Three fingers under, with gap shootings and they hit the target up until over 30 yrds. That s pretty impressive. Easy to watch, tricky to execute. Nice man!
Lots of wisdom to be gathered in this post. The word Discipline being chief. BZ Chad.
I love shooting trad recurve. It really is hard to appreciate how much of a challenge it is. That was good shooting.
Chad, I am so glad you found your way to traditional archery shooting that BW longbow makes bowhunting so much more challenging and exciting. Once you experience your first kill with it you will understand the accomplishment. I am a life long tradidtional shooter, bowhunter, and after all the years I still have the passion and can't wait for the next season. But, the good news is I have all year to shoot and get ready. If you never experienced the Eastern Traditional Archer Rendezvous (July 25-28th 2024 Ski Saw Mill) Morris,PA check it out on the net, you should experiece it once in your lifetime. Your always welcome to shoot with my group. You would really like the mountains of PA. Practice often and enjoy your hunts with the BW longbow.
I absolutely LOVE where this is going.. the possibilities you've just opened up for your channel are HUGE..
Tred Barta used to hunt big game with a long bow. I enjoyed his videos when I was younger. Talked about doing it the hard way
The thing that brings me back to trad bows, is it's on me to make the shot. Whether it's good or bad, it was on me. I can't blame a bad shot on sights being moved. Or cams being out of tune.
It's me, two sticks, and a string.
Used to shoot trad bows competitively with my dad when I was a kid. Haven’t shot in years but I would love to get back into it when I have time.
Great content...we need a Chilli vs Chad bow competition!
That was awesome!!! TY!
Blessed I found this channel man. Truly
Got a neighbor friend who shoots traditional archery. She loves it.
3 of 7 Project....Man I gotta tell you this content is my life day in and out. Keep it up man, I truly like all of it.
Used to play golf with our home made bows.. I still make bows.. It's so relaxing to tiller wet wood into a strong tool. Once you start you are committed.. I make them out of the most prolific wood around, the troublesome Chinese Elm I think they are also called Tree of Paradise. They last for years once completely cured and sealed with it's own sap. Anyways thanks for the video.. I need to go practice lol. You darn good with that Long Bow!
Amen brother, it takes discipline and dedication with traditional archery instinctive shooting, gap, point of aim reps and sets 👍🏼 thanks for the share
Ya that bow zips em out there. I love traditional. I shoot most nights after work; in my apartment. I stand in my kitchen and shoot at a target by my front door. I've spackled many holes in drywall over the years; never hunted and live in the city. I've always thought it was cool. It's a good strength maintaining workout. I have shoulder damage, and drawing that 50# bow keeps me in shape dude.
Great shooting Brother, I've been shooting traditional a long time, you will probably go back to instinctive and gap until you find what works for you I'm starting to be a snap shooter but the great thing about shooting traditional is there's no right or wrong way to shoot! GOOD luck this hunting season Brother!
Anyone remember the Red re curve bows that we used in School? I remember breaking the string on mine and using whatever I could find Like fishing line to go shoot it. I did the compound bow thing for a while.. Decked out a nice one with the sights, wisker bisquit ,release etc and it made it too easy but was fun for a short while until I lost enterest. It doesnt take much skill compared for sure..
Always good to see more people picking up the stickbow. best of luck!
Awesome shooting. Good luck this season.
Love traditional archery
I haven't gotten into traditional archery before, but I saw you mountain biking in another video. That has been my favorite hobby in recent years
Now your talking! Very impressed!
I was going back and forth in my head about what to buy, either a longbow or a compound bow… I went compound. Definitely happy with my choice.
My favorite too.Love watching the arrow flight.
I LOVE traditional archery. When compounds became popular I never jumped on the compound train, I stuck with the simplicity of my old recurve .
Nice bow and nice hobby. I too shoot a Widow.... PSAX recurve 71@31.5. I have shot a compound bow a few times many years ago but never owned one. Way less challenging than desired. I have bowhunted with three different recurve bows since 1983. The BW is an absolute beast of a bow to be a small piece of fine furniture. It's so rewarding to hunt, blow thru animals and dine on perfect nutrition. Bowharvest Eat Repeat. Your discipline is appreciated.
Outstanding!!!
I'm a fellow traditional shooter - and yeup, if I don't practice regularly and consistently I don't shoot well. I also missed a big buck this year with it though I was able to harvest a nice fat doe earlier in the season. That said, compound bows really appeal to me as well and I plan to buy one to hunt with as well.
i ordered my first traditional recurve bow today! gets here next friday and the 4 day traditional classic 3d shoot and camp is 5 miles down the road from me in a few weeks! i cant wait to go camp out for 3 nights and shoot for 3 days and all the arrows ill sling til then!
Awesome I use a recurve from Cabela’s, really makes you improve your hunting skills to get in range
Spot on! Spot on! Spot on! The fun really begins when you start shooting three under / off the knuckle. Tiller your own bow and build your own arrows (woodies of course). You will have a hard time returning to a compound... After a while you won't even want to look at a compound. It's like fly-fishing. You get hooked and can never return to a spinning or bait casting rig... Chad, thanks for encouraging kids to take up trad archery, but don't forget older people. I got addicted to trad at the age of 65. It's a mind and body endeavor -- perfect for older people. Thanks, Chad!
Chad,
Glad to see you also enjoy traditional bow hunting.
I’ve been shooting tradition bows since I was 5 years old! If you ever get up to Pennsylvania give me a shout out. I got lots of good places to hunt here.
Be safe and God Bless!
Leon
Beautiful peace of land my brother.
Agreed! I was amazed how hard it is when I tried it. I'm using a 25 yd fixed crawl but gap shooting off that.
I love traditional archery. I’ve hunted elk and bear in Colorado with my recurve and longbow. Hunting in Georgia this year
Binge watched all your trad bow vid's/ Intrigued and Entertained. Keep the stickbow vids coming!
Love shooting my stick bows and my ar15’s also thank you for your service brother
I spy a clicker on that top limb! Definitely helps with an additional audible witness for consistent draw each time!
I’m training with my #40 Bodnik Quick Stick for this years Turkey & Deer seasons. Very excited for the challenge Trad archery presents!
Great stuff brother! Bow huntin of any sort is the ultimate challenge!
Outstanding !,,
Good stuff brother
Awesome bow, started shooting traditional about 6 months ago after a lifetime of shooting a compound, whole different thing but a blast
Love this! Just started archery back in december with a recurve bow trying to get good enough to go bow hunting with, i dont really care for compound bows...i feel like it does all the work in my opinion
love trad!!
NIce Video! I've been shooting longbow since I was 13, I'm 65 now.
Got my black and red running hat yesterday thank you sir!
Been a while since I shot a bow, I find it relaxing and fun. I just use recurve like Bear and Pearson, Hoyet
Finally after 10-15 years, I'm getting back into archery (recurve). Had a total shoulder replacement 2 years ago and find that besides great physical conditioning, the mental exercise for this 68 year old is extremely rewarding!
Wow, great video!! I also stopped hunting with my compound many years ago because it just wasn’t challenging anymore.
My last four deer were killed using homemade bow, homemade arrows with stone points. I still shoot instinctively but have thought about switching to gap. The only reason I haven’t made the switch is we like to rabbit hunt with our bows and the speed of instinctive shooting comes in handy when you are shooting at a moving target.
If this is a truthful comment I highly respect it.
You sound like a thoroughbred Comanche
I felt the same way about compound bows. Once you get everything tuned up and shooting it's literally too easy to shoot really well. I used to shoot an old long bow as a kid that I found in the attic of our old house. I always wanted to get back into it and finally did a few years ago and I'm sure it's going to be a life long hobby and pursuit. Nothing like shooting some traditional archery! Best meditation you can do.
Much respect. I shoot traditional as well. Love that Black Widow bow! You should never get bored with traditional archery. Check out Clay Hayes if you have not already.
Nice shooting buddy and nice ass bow. I shoot a Hoyt compound Factor bow and love shooting for hours a day sometimes but I do agree with you once you got the hang of it there's not much challenge even out to 50 yards.
Olive ash makes a great looking bow! Looks like you’re ready for this fall!
Been shooting traditional bows for fifteen years. Enjoyed your video hope to see more with the long bow. Maybe show some training program to strengthen the back muscles.
Great shooting! A buddy of mine teaches trad bow hunting, tracking. Pretty cool stuff.
Like you I shot compounds but went back to traditional bows. Using a Bear Super Grizzly 40lb, love it.
Pretty amazing shooting. Great bow. more trad content please :)
Damn nice shooting brother, lowbow guys are in awe I assure you!
Started on what we used to call "Bare " bow , went into compound but got bored and went back . Now I don't hunt with a bow so there is that , but I just love the mental state it takes . Your mind can make all those minute' calculations if you let it. I watched a man shoot ASPIRIN out of the air with a recurve! Think about shooting a basket or throwing a rock at a can . That's really impressive if you think about it but we do it all the time . I'm the same with my guns. My favorite is a good old lever gun with iron sites .
Good to see you shooting with trad gear. You should stop into 3 Rivers Archery in northeast Indiana. It would be cool to meet you in person. Good shooting!
Good shoot man. I have a Bear 76'er my father bought me for Christmas in the Bicentennial Year. Gave you the finger yesterday! ha ha '' jacked pinky'' finger that is!
I'm slowly switching to traditional archery!!!! It's more satisfying!!!
I wondered if Chad was into archery the other day and boom..cool l love bows...
I used a compound many years agp then went to a recurve and stayed with it. I now use a primal survival bow.. it folds like a doublebladed jack knife .45# draw. . I have yet to hunt with it..
If you do go this year have fun and enjoy.
I'm a longbow guy too. Same black widow as you. They are lightweight, quiet, and I can miss the same deer several times without spooking them! 😂
Nice shootin amigo
I shoot a Black Widow recurve #43lb with 175-grain Zwickey Cliff broad heads. Nothing more gratifying than a clean kill with traditional gear.
Never shot compound ! Love the traditional longbows! That’s real archery!
Love shooting stick bows
I have my grandmother's old
40pound pull Ben Pearson long bow that she used in archery competitions back in the
1940's and started off by aiming at my intended target 🎯 with so so luck and then I tried not aiming at it and instead I started using the instinctive shooting method by simply looking at where you want to hit and to my surprise my hits on target immediately improved to the point that I no longer aim but look at where I want my arrow to hit !
Give it a go see if it works out for you like it has for me ...
i'm building an osage orange Mollegabet and will be shooting traditional soon, too
Longbows are definitely humbling. Study up on Howard Hill. He was probably the greatest stick bow shooter who ever walked this Earth.
One of my favorite passions. Longbows rule !
Beautiful.
Former navy seal starter pack:
1.) Run a lot!
2.) become a bow Hunter
3.) write a book about being a navy seal
One more and Chad will hit the trifecta!
The time it takes to pull back a traditional bow vs modern bow means getting a quick shot or not. I got a doe with a homemade reinforced 3/4 pvc bow. I still use my compound release on traditional bow. I do some old guy hunting. Red flannel sitting still at picnic table. It's way easier to pull back traditional bow with deer watching than modern bow. Less moving parts mean less movements to spook them .
I shoot recurves instinctively, but I would like a long bow. It’s almost like magic to me. I look at something, and that’s where the arrow lands. I also like martial arts, and I do believe they are quite similar, requiring dedication and consistency. I try to get everyone involved with both. It have no way to prove it, but I believe it has also improved my shooting ability with firearms as well. Shooting firearms seems quite easy compared to a traditional bow. Thanks for the video.
In Japan, the bow is both a martial art and a religious experience for those involved in it.
I learned to shoot with an old Bear Kodiak recurve.. I was maybe 14 now I’m 58 long time ago.. Cool video
Longbow life is real, a lot of App bamf run long bow work! 🇺🇸🏴🇺🇸💚🤘🏼
❤ very cool
Chad, you should make your own bow. I’ve made three so far, it’s not too hard. I’ve used hickory and bois d arc.
Nice gravel drive, always can hear a vehicle coming on the land.
Good shooting
good shooting dude...I use them too but you could beat me hands down and I dont practice enough. Maybe I'll check out this "gap" shooting you mention.
You gotta give Clay Hayes a call for a Trad archery hangout! Would make for an awesome video
U did good at that distance, I shoot recurve.
You can tell Chad really misses those UDT shorts, but the camo pattern does hide the butt when up in the stand.
Having ya"all get sponsored and vinyl wrap your Landcruiser, with HOYT mossyoak, paraffinalia would be awesome..
