As a natural born Floridian, thank you for not dying the pie green. 😂 Whenever I see or order key lime pie outside of Florida it’s usually green and rarely ever good. Lol I do love the idea of ginger in the crust!
I was in London back at the end of February/start of March this year. Got to see Crumbs and Doilies shop and got to meet Dane and it really made my day. Such a nice guy. Hope to see Gemma and Sally next time 😊
I am from the Florida Keys and this pie is a staple dessert! We slice it, freeze the slices then dip it in dark chocolate and eat frozen "on a stick". THE BEST. ☀️ (I also make a Key Lime NY style cookie!)
As they say in jolly ol’ England…Oh my giddy aunt! Your dipping it sounds fantastic! I live in WA state on the Olympic Peninsula. I made a different recipe for this pie filling (key lime juice, sweetened condensed milk, and cream cheese) for my hubby’s 70th last week. I made a chocolate crust with chocolate wafers, which are hard to find. I love double-stuff Oreos, and eat them like I did when I was a kid; pull the cookie apart, lick all the center cream off that one side, then eat that side. (I’m 75, but I refuse to grow up!) Then, I freeze the other side of the cookies to use for pie crust. I did see a great YT chef who made an Oreo pie crust and used the whole cookie with the cream filling! I’m going to try that sometime! I don’t think I’d dip the pie with the chocolate crust; it might be overkill. But, next time I’m going to make the pie with a gingerbread cookie crust, and then I’ll dip ‘em! I’m having trouble envisioning a way to dip them. But I guess cuz they’re frozen, it isn’t too messy or difficult. Hubby & I are both dark chocolate lovers. Do you have any recommendations as to what chocolate I should use? I really love this idea, and appreciate any further suggestions regarding the chocolate. Thank you so much! 🌸

A little tip for getting the most juice out of your lime 🍋🟩 or lemon 🍋. Pop a little hole in the lime and into the microwave for 5-10 seconds. Give the lime a roll, using the palm of your hand and then juice. You should get much more juice and find it easier to juice as it’s slightly softer. 🍋🟩
