As a Samoan, I feel so much sadness for my native Hawaiian brothers and sisters. Their Identity has been completely tarnished by colonization. Samoa organized peaceful resistance protest back in the 1920s to fight for their independence, one of the first countries to perform non-violent movement before Gandhi and before Martin Luther king. They were eventually granted Independence in 1962 and Samoa is still as pure as can be, with 70% of it's land preserved under it's constitution and overseas investors can't buy property but can enter long-term leaseholds of upto 50 years, so that custom ownership is maintained by the local people. My prayers go out to the Maoli people.
@@Navigator_IsleTHIS is the comment I was looking for ❤❤❤ I AM WITH YOU! I happen to share skin color with the colonizers but I have been working really hard to learn the history and SEE the oppression and understand all the problems related to and created by that....and I'm not trying to pat myself on the back or butt-in where I dont belong, but to back up your point I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE WITH YOUR ANGER SO MUCH it pisses me off to see this centuries-long genocide on the indigenous people of the Hawaiian Islands just keep going and going and going while being ignored!!! Any random person WITH A BRAIN who simply cares for other people can see how unimaginably cruel and greedy the whole situation has been. I've been paying attention to the people that live in Lahaina (especially the ones that were caught in the fire on Front Street in those cars that were left days after, the ones who had to jump into the ocean just to not get cooked alive, And the people who own property that was scorched, those who were forcibly evicted against their will, whose property is now being bought up cheaply by capitalist corporations like Black Rock)... I'm not saying anybody started the fire or planned it, but I am saying what has happened since then is incredibly nefarious and goes against the basic principles of human nature. We can't say that this course of action wasn't planned out and decided upon before the fire happened.. and that in itself deserves at least investigation and some statements from a large cross-section of residents. I am shocked at how little follow-up reporting has been spread around the country after this.
I am 99% certain I know this guy and became good friends when I lived on Maui for about 6 months. Technically I was homeless but was invited over with a job lined up working construction with my dad. Got to camp on the job site in tents sorta as security for one. Plus not really any excuse to not show up to work lol. Was about 14 years ago.... This is the weirdest thing starting to go thru this channel and I see a close friend from over a decade ago in a different state lol. He is the realest of the real. I dont wanna mess with his privacy telling much about him but you are right on the money with the kinda guy he is. Has seen and done some absolutely crazy stuff in his life. He is right there when you need him too. He has a weird 6th sense about stuff about to unfold. Or people you need to watch out for. He took me in so to speak and let everybody know I am not any regular haole to be messed with lol. I was young few years out of highschool then.... man

You two are singlehandedly making me feel more positive about living in the UK. It really isn't too bad here!! In all seriousness though... You guys are doing an amazing job! I hope you get the recognition you deserve and can take your work to a wider audience and hopefully make a difference for these people!
Made me cry to see this woman with her doggie come into her hotel room and lay on a real bed and be safe. God Bless you Tyler for facilitating that. Maui should be helping her as a displaced person and victim to the suspicious fires that were most likely a land grab for the elites.
God Bless you three. My wife and i JUST a few months ago struggled our way of homeless. For 2 ¹/² years enduring the streets of downtown Colorado Springs, CO. My wife was/is in a wheelchair and awaiting double hip surgery. We now reside in a 24 ft. travel trailer we finally were able to purchase. Our hearts go out to those you showcased and the ones you couldn't. I aplaud you all for having the compassion to bring this overlooked issue to the light of peoples consciousness and the courage to enter the hell most of us call/called life. God bless you!
I'm glad you made it through to the other side. I have many health problems, and I don't think I'd make it. Congratulations to you both. I hope your wife's hip surgery went well.
@Off2Witness Congratulations on ur new home. Just curious if u & ur wife were homeless & ur wife was obviously disabled, how did u manage to come up with the money to purchase a travel trailer. I'm homeless & disabled & as much as I try & can't possibly save for a car let alone a trailer. I don't drink or do drugs, I can't afford to, my money goes to food, clothes & surviving in a tent.
Tyler, that was very nice of you. I think you saw her unselfishness by taking care of a dog while being homeless and it felt a bit inspirational tbh. Honestly pretty angelic and thoughtful
The only problem is when they get a dog when they are already homeless and can't feed themselves. Becoming homeless when you have a dog is one thing but a lot of the homeless people adopt dogs when they can't even buy dog food

Funny those so called "Sanctuary Cities" were so PUBLIC in their initial announcements that they had the compassion the right leaning areas lacked . That "concern gor fellow humans very quickly disappeared as soon as the downtrodden showed up in town . Many have and continue to quietly try to round them up and bus (or fly in this case ) them to unwitting cities that have never espoused to be sanctuary . Trouble is sure to begin , but the left cities coudn't care less , it"s no longer their problem (although they were a huge part of the cause) . The Sanctuary Cities dont seem to be as public about the dirty tricks they pull to shirk the aid they professed ready to dole out !!!!!! SHAME ON THEM !!!!!!
I love how they helped build that woman back up at the end after she had given her all and reached her goal. They helped restore her just enough to give all again in pursuit of her next goal. That's what true community is about, helping those who have given all helping themselves to raise the community higher.

I know, the dog on the bed so happy and comfortable got me. Made me so sad that she was so close to taking her life because of the daily struggle to survive. I cannot imagine what living on the streets would be like for 22 years like that one man.
I grew up all over homeless camps on Oahu. It’s a nasty complicated situation, and a vicious cycle. My dad used to live under that bridge next to jack in the box 20 years ago. And another camp under the bridge on school street in waterfall park. Back then the homeless community took care of each other. Both my parents lived that lifestyle until it killed them, it’s extremely sad.
Do you think it would be better if you were taken away and put in foster care or are you happy you were with your parents even though they were homeless?

This was absolutely heart breaking. The highlight was the lady and her pup in the hotel at the end, what incredible joy over life’s simple pleasure of a BED! Makes ya really think about the small things we complain about and stop taking this for granted
@ right!!! It’s sad how we take for granted the simplicities of life, and when you see these videos it’s just a reminder to 1) be kinder to those less fortunate 2) appreciate what you have! Thank you for agreeing with me!
I could feel the joy of that woman & her pup (that precious dog was so freakin happy!) when they laid on the hotel bed at the end! It really brought to the forefront the power of gratitude and a reminder to not take the little things for granted because it could all be taken away from you in a split second!
That was really awesome that you helped her and her little dog. I was homeless for 6 years. And I'll tell you right now, something changed during Covid. People just don't care anymore. I wasn't on the street because of drugs, or alcohol. When you feel no one cares if you live or die, you lose all hope. And I'm not saying that people need to hand out money. It's not about that. But, everyone needs to know somebody cares. Thank you for doing what you do. ❤
@@BradyBubbuhgum-fh4nyJUST the homeless..? There is more alcoholics/drug addicts that are housed, than u think.Addiction is everywhere and doesn’t discriminate. But addicts should have access to basic human necessities too.
I'm a pharmacist working in Honolulu and the amount of homelessness, drug-addicted, and mentally ill folks is making it scarier to just walk on the street. I regularly get people from that park (and others) walking in and asking for OTC treatments for 'nano-machines under the skin/CIA trackers/any other schizo paranoia thing you can think of. Also a lot of scabies treatment requests, or any SSTI treatments, etc. Thanks for making this video. In pharmacy there's already extremely strict state+federal laws and regulations around the dispensing of controlled substances i.e. fentanyl/other opioids. Dealers must be getting their supply from other countries illegally imo. Anyways I live right there! I go to that panda express all the time. Crazy to see your own community in a video like this - we've just accepted this as the norm and don't think much of it tbh.
The fentanyl on the streets is entirely different from the fentanyl patches sold legally. Most of it is smuggled in as is or synthesized from precursor chemicals in local labs.
The reason the fentanyl crisis is so out of hand is because of the drug law in the US, if substances were decriminalized and regulated the amount of deaths from fentanyl would drop significantly, as well as stopping the incentive for a black market.
That was some impressive information Tyler. I never would have thought people were being shipped and shipping themselves to Hawaii. I just saw in San Francisco that they've cleaned up the streets for some governmental conference and I wondered "Where'd they store all of the homeless?"
Lowkey that's actually how most of the homeless end up on the West coast in general. Mostly Republican states pack up their most troublesome homeless and bus them to LA or Portland with $100 Subway gift cards & the general understanding that west coast blue states will be more humane to them (which is true), but it overwhelms our systems. In Portland it was all of 5 years before we went from handling the situation somewhat to being completely & totally overwhelmed with an influx of severely mentally ill people from states like Texas, Utah etc.
The lady with the dog at the end brought tears my eyes 😢. I am so happy she was able to get housing the next day. May God bless and comfort them all and all those without shelter and/or struggling with addiction

It has always bothered me how little attention was brought to the homelessness crisis on Oahu, but so incredible to see guys like Tyler cover this issue. Also racism in Hawaii is never talked about - killed two birds with one stone in this video!

Well HE calls it racism. I suggest you speak to your people of the island and aske THEM what THEY call it. Racism - hate for no reason for race, color, sexuality religion and so on. Racism. When your attitude and/or disposition comes from a RESPONSE to actions taken AGAINST your natives ppl and obvious the land. Wont have shiot left for "natives" to buy a house when its time for you unless its passed down. Also young lady, as a person of color one tip you keep - it IS OK to congregate, socialize, entertain, educated, and worship exclusively with your people. Something you should NEVER feel anything but pride in. Something that's awarded to you when things are "taken" and "sold" away from yall. P.S. It seems the white gentleman meant no harm either in his comment either. But it was the segway @bredbornraised808hawaii4 @@bredbornraised808hawaii4
That's nice, thanks for sharing your personal experience, only one thing.. There is nothing "incredible" about enabling and exploiting poor people for content.
@@mikevalentine8369 It is racism and literally within the definition. If you hate white people because a specific white person bought a house before you, then you are a racist. Same if you hate black people because you got mugged once by a specific black person or if you hate asian people because one asian person stole your significant other. It's quite simple to understand the concept of racism, I think you got confused by to much leftist media trying to bend the definition around to fit their narrative.

@@YoloMoloPolo300 It’s possible. Better to think she is turning her life around though. Most of us think about losing our jobs, houses and lives and know we have some sort of family or friends to go to. At least I would but so many people don’t and that’s terrifying. Not having that along with being abused throughout child, a horrible marriage, etc leads to someone that doesn’t think the way a normal person does. We can sit here all day and say they just don’t want to get better or don’t want to get off the streets, but you also can’t think the way these people do. Homelessness aside, we need to focus on a way to stop parents from absolutely destroying their children mentally and sometimes physically before adulthood…

Melissa and her pup just made me sob. She needed a hand up, and you did that for her. I don't have the answers needed to solve this humanitarian crisis, but thank you for your kindness to her, and her pup. My kids and I lost everything in a fire, and became homeless in the blink of an eye. It was so incredibly tough. I didn't have renters insurance, so everything was just gone. I have always worked 2 jobs, but it isn't easy having to replace everything at once. I thank God, I had family to lean on. It took me a good year to get back on my feet and replace what items we lost in the fire. My children and I would have been out on the streets if it weren't for my siblings. I don't think the general public realizes how quickly a person could become homeless, and once homeless, how hard it is to get back on your feet. Most long-term homeless people have either mental illness, drug addiction, or both. As a nation, we need effective treatments for these conditions in order to make an effective change to decrease homelessness. A different approach is needed, as the current approach is failing miserably. No human should have to live like this.

In Finland the government gives a home to every homeless person and helps them to get bsck on their feet . It is not nice or safe for people to be homeless. And it is not nice or safe for people who have a home. If a homeless person is disgraruntled he may resort to crime to survive. So society has to take care of the weaker.
I'm born and raised on Kauai and homelessness has always been a big problem. When I was younger I used to walk and take the bus to get to where I was going and sometimes would get into conversations with the homeless uncles and aunties that were sitting and waiting for the bus. A lot of them used to tell us as teens that they were flown in from a different state and promised a job. The problem only got worse to the point that at the age of 16 I didn't really see them on the streets or parks but down in the alleyways we would use as shortcuts or in the bushes on the side of the main highway. They were just pushed out of our parks and into the wilderness to where it was basically out of sight out of mind for our county.
Thank you, brave men 😊 for documenting and bringing firsthand eyewitness truth about what is out there. Love that you were there for the lady and doggie on her last day of homelessness. Thank you Kevin, for all you do.
Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless. 😢😢

Man when that dog ran in the hotel room and hopped on the bed rolling around with pure joy. I honestly started to tear up. Like the pup was happy that she and her human has a safe comfortable place to sleep tonight. That’s just awesome. I salute Tyler and Kevin for helping her have a place to sleep that night before her going into a shelter. That was so awesome and a really compassionate thing for them to do. I mean they could just walked on and wished her luck but they helped her out and paid for a room for her to sleep in for the night. They are good dudes man. It usually takes a lot for me to subscribe to a content creator’s channel because a lot of the time they turn out to be fake AF in the long run but after watching a handful of your video’s especially on raising awareness with the homeless and drug epidemic and doing it in a respectful manner. Getting information and conducting interviews while showing these individuals a level of respect, dignity, and empathy. I have decided to subscribe. Keep up the good work Tyler and Kevin ❤️. Side Note: I know the woman said that she was going in a shelter the next day. But from personal experience I know that a lot of shelters don’t allow you to bring animals with you. With that said I’m curious if this particular shelter she is going to is going to allow her to bring her pet. Because if they don’t she might decide not to go which would be awful but at the same time understandable because if I was her I wouldn’t want to abandon my dog/ the only companion that has been by my side through all my suffering either. Idk I hope that she is allowed to bring her puppy with her because it would be really traumatic for her to be separated from her owner and put in a dog shelter/pound or possibly left behind to fend for herself. But like I said I don’t believe the woman would stand by and allow that to happen. She seems to love the dog very much. Either way I will pray for both of them to be safe and happy and find peace & safety in their lives.

After 35 years of leaving Hawaii as a kid, I went back to see my best friend to say goodbye for the last time before he passed from cancer. How Oahu has grown is insane. The only local areas I could recognize from the air was Electric beach prior to landing. My experience with the locals this trip was that they where actually much friendlier from when I lived there as a kid. I did work there for a summer on the Waianae side when I was 16 on a ranch with my buddy. Anyway traffic, growth and the poverty had exploded since then. Over on the Waianae side we used to pick up a guy who worked with us from one of the shanty towns that was made of tarps and pallets in the morning before we got to the ranch so it was there but now most of Waianae has homeless encampments from Nanakuli to Kaena point. Found a house for sale... 1200 sq. ft, no real front door, windows where hinged boards, eves falling down, front porch missing some boards... $660,000!! I have no idea how anyone makes a living over there.

Either way, Mahalo for doing a story on this as I've tried to explain to friends and family what I dealt with living on the island. Now I can show them through your journalism
You were so sweet to that woman. She can start her new life fed, showered & rested. That kind of help is simple but so profound. Sending people to Hawaii is such a devious trick…vulnerable people are being thrown away. Good job. ♥️
He seems to help those who can help themselves, that woman you can see she isn't too much of a difficult case and just a small gesture could help a lot, while the other people on the island they met seem to need much more to get them to a good state of life and that's beyond what both of them could do
I visited Hawaii for the first time a few months ago and was astonished on how many homeless people I saw. My mom and I befriended a homeless couple and was surprised to know they had full time jobs and were still homeless. The housing crisis there is getting worse.
it’s hard to nail down specific predictions for the housing market is because it’s not yet clear how quickly or how much the Federal Reserve can bring down inflation and borrowing costs without tanking buyer demand for everything from homes to cars.
A lot of folks have been going on about the bull rally and said stocks that would be experiencing significant growth, any idea which stocks this may be? I just sold my home in the Boca Grande area and I’m looking to remunerate a lump sum into the stock market before stocks rebound, is this a good time to buy or no?
Such market uncertainties are the reason I don’t base my market judgements and decisions on rumours and here-says, got the best of me 2020 and had me holding worthless position in the market, I had to revamp my entire portfolio through the aid of a planner, before I started seeing any significant results happens in my portfolio, been using the same advisor and I’ve scaled up 750k within 2 years, whether a bullish or down market, both makes for good profit, it all depends on where you’re looking.
True, we’re only just an information away from amassing wealth, I know a lot of folks that made fortunes from the Dotcom crash as well as the 08’ crash and I’ve been looking into similar opportunities in this present market, could this coach that guides yo help?
Having a fduciary is essential for proper portfolio diversification to make gains. My advisor is LOREN LENA WALKER who is easily searchable and has extensive knowledge of the financial markets.
Thank you for this tip. it was easy to find your coach. Did my due diligence on her before scheduling a phone call with her. She seems proficient considering her résumé.
I grew up on the small populated island of Kauai from 11 to 22. Homelessness wasn't huge, but definitely a lot bigger than most people knew. I knew a few people who were shipped out. Some states basically deport the homeless or send them to jail. Many take the plane ticket and "job opportunities" not realizing that they are being lied to. For the locals, a lot of it stems from knowing so many people on the islands. Hawaii as a whole is pretty tightly knit in comparison to other states and even many other countries. Hawaiian families and friends are HUGE! I worked at the Kauai Costco and 85% of the island at the time had a costco membership. I saw everybody; friends, exes, bullies, tourists. All of it. Hawaii is beautiful, but it's too easy to feel stuck, too easy to be caught up in drama. Everyone knows everyone. Anything that you have done or has happened to you, a large amount of the island will know about it. The "coconut wireless" as some used to call it. Seeing your exes at 1 of the 4 places to buy food, the cost of living, modern society in general, the pandemic (that struck tourist areas like hawaii very hard), it's no wonder there are so many falling into drugs (most specifically meth) and just feeling like goving up. Add that a lot of locals really just aren't as educated and not as world traveled (far away from other places, and hawaii is already "paradise"), it all adds up. Every which way it's a struggle. I wasn't even close to homeless, and I love Hawaii with all my soul. It's the place this haole boy calls home. But man I just had to get out of there and actual find a place to make new experiences. Hawaii really starts to feel like the same old, especially on the smaller populated islands. For nature it's awesome, but for indoor/social activities not involving nature, it's usually few and far between (and any that there are you'll see all the people you know. You ain't meeting any new people at a bar, unless it's a tourist or someone who moved from another island). It's fucked. Hawaii really just can't catch a break
Hawaii was once a paradise and now it's like a giant open-air prison. Sad. There were a ton of homeless camps in the Dog the Bounty Hunter series, his team was always going into the camps to hunt down fugitives. Cost of living in Hawaii is insane, I really feel bad for the native people who no longer can afford to live in their homeland. I know many Southeastern American families in a similar predicament-family lands sold off to developers and people priced out of communities because cost of living went up but not their wages.
Many homeless use to have a home but because many of them have problem with alcohol and drugs and mental health problem. Their houses look like barn where animals live.....like total shit show and the smell and bugs just dont stay in their apartment it goes other apartments too. I have been fixing these houses like 16 years. But i believe people should have second chance and help. Just few months ago one guy was kicked out of his rental apartment and i met the landlord who told me that apartment needs total repair. need to do new bathroom, new kitchen, new floor and paint and fix holes in walls. it will cost about 15 -20 000 euros. Whats sad that this is third guy who is kicked out and last two fucked the apartment same way. And in just two years time. Tax payers pay those repair bills because these guys dont have any money. Point here if you dont care about how you live in rental house or apartment. It is better you live in streets then.@@MissCleo24
@@MissCleo24 or maybe ppl need to stop voting for government politicians that send billions to Ukraine and send maybe just 1 billion to Hawaii for housing. Elon musk has manufactured a home for under 10 g that self sustains on solar panels. How about the gov send 10 or 20 thousand X homes to Hawaii. btw Elon has put 4 of those units together in Texas and lives in his own manufactured home. The problem is solvable, the fact that it has not been solved tells you our elected leaders like the problem and want it to continue.
Back in 06-07 I had a woman named Michelle message me on Myspace and was trying to talk me into coming to Hawaii. She said she lived in Ewa Beach, her family was wealthy, her Mom did a Sunday church show, could get me a job, a place to live, sent me a cel phone, told me to watch Dog so I could see what life was like out there. I'd already moved away from a town that was infested with tweakers and seeing how bad it was in Hawaii was a big Red Flag. She bought me a plane ticket (verified). A week before my flight was scheduled she said "Don't bother coming if you're just going to reject me." That surprised me because we hadn't even got close to that sort of situation and it was enough to make me back away from it. Seeing this vid and listening to the stories those people are telling makes me glad I did. I just don't understand why people would do that, for what purpose. The plane ticket was $800.
colonial settlements are taken by force and kept by force. america is all an open air prison, reservation. step out of line and they immediately want to send people to prison. instead of giving people an apartment, they give them cells.
Doggy’s excitement tells it all, the streets are not the places for anyone, there is a better place… and that place is heaven…. Hey Tyler I love your video man, you are doing good!
I'm honestly really grateful for you both and what you do on this channel, you spill all the real details about what's going on. They really thought this was a place to run to, a paradise, but it ended up being hell.
Who destroyed their land with resorts and hotels? Apparently having those things on the island hasn’t done much for the natives. It seems to be a cycle of greed and destruction. What is the root cause? The cost of living is insane in Hawaii, i feel for the natives. Tyler you and Kevin are amazing people!❤
what’s difficult for Hawai’i as well, is that housing is soooo expensive that even MIDDLE class can’t afford homes and end up homeless. So living in Hawai’i is a struggle for even both those with low paying jobs and homeless! I just want people to know that we need to provide for EVERYONE and not just our tourist. Thank you for sharing awareness of our home, it is truly appreciated.
I went to Hawaii back in fall of 2004. Its sad to see that in 20 years things have only gotten worst. When I was walking around Oahu there were lots of meth addicts then as well but the homelessness was not as bad as I see it now. This shit needs to be settled in Federal Court. States cant just ship off their problems on others like this.
@@JoyZofSoRRoW I don’t have a problem with legal immigration either! The system needs to fixed so that those who come in legally can get through but closed borders unless the gate opens for a legal immigrant.
People have to b established to go and live in Hawaii. Like have family ECT. Locals don't hate anybody. But it's hard that the locals need help and these people r taking their resources. These people r like the Migrants in the Mainland. They invade the way of life and the culture. There is still Aloha there. U have to know wer to go and who to talk with...like 8 said u need to established there. If u don't have family there it's no good. Locals r very family oriented. Also drugs r a big problem there for locals. So these people come there and they r on drugs too so it makes it harder for locals already burdened w addiction. Drugs is wat really ruined Hawaii. It's so sad to see...

It’s crazy because I noticed a few years ago in downtown Miami where there was a big community of homeless people was “cleaned” up. I told my husband that it seemed like the homeless community was being shipped off somewhere. Little did I know 😢
So you're telling me that you think the homeless in Southern Florida were rounded up and sent to Hawaii that makes absolutely no fucking sense at all. It's internacine warfare going on between the leaders of American politics that is exactly why this shit is happening
I hope and pray Melissa and her pup get that HOME! Thank you to the kind gentleman that got her and her furbaby that room! U have no idea what a person is going through you both may have literally saved her life! Bless u both! PAY IT FORWARD PEOPLE!
Thank you for not just covering the conditions but seizing the opportunity to change and possibly save Melissa's life that day. You guys really are best team on the streets of this country. Stay safe out there!
Tyler bro you're such an inspiration. The way you report on these harsh living conditions is both fair and sympathetic. There are varying degrees to which people are accountable for their own fate and you don't sugarcoat that. Regardless, you treat them all with respect.
Much Mahalos for what you did by sharing the real struggles of paradise. I’m born and raised a few streets over from the first 7-11 you went to in Makaha and you inspired me to do phenomenal things so I can go back home to help the people of Waianae
I really like this channel. He is such a good interviewer/ communicator. I love how he shows compassion to these people and help us see a glimpse into their lives. Definitely makes me a more opened minded person when it comes to these people's real situations. After what he did for the woman at the end, it compelled me to subscribe to the channel. Thank you for helping that woman and her dog.
It’s sad that tourism has made it impossible for the natives to live in their own homes. And that people just ships homeless people to get rid of their homeless population. I wish nothing but the best for that lady and her dog and hope they have a brand new fresh start at life
Actually sounds like Hawaii is for the USA, as Australia was for the British, where they dumped all their unwanted far away from the mainland. As for natives, they should look into the following; DHHL provides direct benefits to native Hawaiians in many ways. Beneficiaries may receive 99-year homestead leases at $1 per year for residential, agricultural, or pastoral purposes. These leases may be extended for an aggregate term not to exceed 199 years.
Live in Waikiki, Oahu all my life. Raised in Waipahu, was homeless at a moment in life. Most of the people on the streets are from drug use, domestic violence, family issues, and a lot of main landers. West, North, are pretty much locals, but town all the way to Waikiki, Diamond Head is mix of locals with a lot of mainland people. Resources are scarce, people tend to stay close to parks due to restrooms and access to water. It’s like the last lady, persistent and follow up. The cost of living is being driven up by foreign investors in high rises, next time you’re in Hawaii drive around at dark and look at all the condos that should be totally sold out be empty? And no one on this island’s politicians don’t do anything about it except raise taxes! What else can they raise, we pay GET for food, everything, tax for driving, tax on the car, gas, oil, belts, parts, and labor. Then they tax the tourist coming, staying, and leaving! Look close to your bill, it’s a surcharge for tourists! Unreal our politicians, they come into office poor, leave in four/eight years not needing to work! Call me if you really want to see homeless in Hawaii, you didn’t even see the worst! Mahalo
I am in tears when you offered to check that dear lady into a motel for the night. I’m Smiling so much seeing the dog rolling around on the bed. Beautiful moment, they are so happy in the motel. Congratulations to her for her persistence to lock down transitional housing.
As a long haul trucker on the mainland, I’ve spoken to so many homeless folks at rest areas that taking buses to California. They told me that their home state governments got them a one way ticket to California. There are also a lot of people living in their vehicles traveling to California so that they don’t have to worry about the weather.
@@marlastanding-owl7739 Why not give them opportunities so serve the community through volunteerism in exchange for drug rehabiliation, temporary, food and shelter and prospective career training in the form of trades for the undereducated in areas like welding, plumbing, and carpentry? I was homeless in Baltimore Maryland before moving to Hawaii for the warm weather. I lived in a tent and documented my time homeless on the beach. I am now an electrician and i own the company i started. You are in control of your life. These people are homeless because it's easy. I went through hell to struggle and succeed and it was not easy and it took 2 years of HARD WORK! Just to get an apartment. These people don't want hard work and if you don't want hard work, well then it is abundantly clear that you don't want success. Don't give them money, don't give them housing, GIVE THEM A JOB! The rest will follow if they desire it.
You guys are absolute angels sent from somewhere. That last story make me choke up. To see the joy/relief in that woman's face when you told her you were going to check her into a hotel for the night, was just a special moment indeed. I was thinking to myself during the video that if I could do it, I'd be handing some of these homeless people some cash to help them out of their circumstances. Sadly, that might do more harm than good with some people, and I'm specifically referring to addicts. You hand them a load of cash, they're likely to go get a fix, rather than housing.
So judgmental. Your obligation is to give, not to judge. Once you give someone a gift, it’s up to them to do what they wish with it. You talk all this crap but i know you are the type who wouldn’t even give a dollar to a homeless because you judge so much. Have you asked why? Is it because you are so unhappy with yourself ? You feel like you’re never good enough so you project that outwards?
@@getanehsaron129 "So judgmental?" Read your own comment. It's ironically self righteous and judgmental. You say, "It's your obligation to give." No, actually, it is not. It's not for you to say the obligations of others or tell them what they should or should not do with their hard earned money. In instances in which people are clearly strung out, it MAY be more kind to buy them real food and a warm drink or possibly provide them with some material items they could use, such as socks, soap, toothbrushes, etc. If given money, many addicts may buy another hit and even die from your gift. On a case by case basis money, could be given, but actually giving something that is nourishing can never go wrong.
You showed two different people from Illinois and the St. Louis person hit really close to where I’m from and when you help the other person with their housing for the night made me tear up. Keep up the good work.

Hi😊
As someone who was born and raised on Oahu, you bringing awareness to an issue that's been going on since I was a kid is great.
same here! grew up in town major homeless problem for years, one of my childhood memories was seeing a homeless man shoot up drugs infront of me near the state library 😕
It’s a shame you did nothing to help your own

Most of it is smuggled in as is or synthesized from precursor chemicals in local labs.
comes from china and Mexico
Its not that bad haole😂
The reason the fentanyl crisis is so out of hand is because of the drug law in the US, if substances were decriminalized and regulated the amount of deaths from fentanyl would drop significantly, as well as stopping the incentive for a black market.
I live in cananda ( bc ) it's the same here .. we lock our vehicle doors just going out for lunch . It's terrible .. homeless and drugs everywhere.

I was born and raised in Kailua, Oahu and the homeless situation is awful - I unfortunately lost my uncle to the streets, and he is in and out of prison monthly for crystal meth addiction. It has always bothered me how little attention was brought to the homelessness crisis on Oahu, but so incredible to see guys like Tyler cover this issue. Also racism in Hawaii is never talked about - killed two birds with one stone in this video!
My cousin is homeless. Mentally she is not all there but you can't tell until talking to her for a while.
I remember hearing stories from my parents school days 1960’s and they had “Lick a haole day” and she said there was NOT A SINGLE WHITE person that attended school on that day. Crazy! Im local btw as u can see my name handle. I love ALL colors of the rainbow. Racism exists EVERYWHERE even in paradise.

Not having that along with being abused throughout child, a horrible marriage, etc leads to someone that doesn’t think the way a normal person does.

I think America is a shit hole disguised as paradise
Yes. I saw it myself I'n 2013. Visiting a family member. It's hard to get around on Kauai unless you have a car too

God bless.

USA needs to de occupy Hawai'i
We love Kevin 👏🏼
Tyler. I’ve been absolutely loving your content wow thankyou so much for entertaining us and putting yourself out there in danger! ❤🥺
I'm so happy they helped the last lady in the video. It's nice to know good people are still out there.
Doggy’s excitement tells it all, the streets are not the places for anyone, there is a better place… and that place is heaven…. Hey Tyler I love your video man, you are doing good!
Tyler I love how you switched over to this whole investigative journalist thing, I really appreciate what you do man!
I'm honestly really grateful for you both and what you do on this channel, you spill all the real details about what's going on. They really thought this was a place to run to, a paradise, but it ended up being hell.
Killing it with spreading the message of homelessness. You and Kevin are just great people.
Wow! That hotel room was like heaven for the lady & her cute dog. I won't complain about the broken slat on my bed again!
Awesome channel
Who destroyed their land with resorts and hotels?
Apparently having those things on the island hasn’t done much for the natives.
It seems to be a cycle of greed and destruction.
What is the root cause?
The cost of living is insane in Hawaii, i feel for the natives.
Tyler you and Kevin are amazing people!❤
Not Brian the generic white dude and hence it's not ok to be racist to Brian who doesn't own a hotel or might not even own a house himself.

what’s difficult for Hawai’i as well, is that housing is soooo expensive that even MIDDLE class can’t afford homes and end up homeless. So living in Hawai’i is a struggle for even both those with low paying jobs and homeless! I just want people to know that we need to provide for EVERYONE and not just our tourist. Thank you for sharing awareness of our home, it is truly appreciated.
Yep they get trapped from leaving too. Too broke to purchase a plane ticket
Time to bring back the middle class. Let's go Team Kennedy 🎉
The red states love doing that so they can point and say look a blue state that can't house its people
And it needs to start at the border. We have one and NO president or congress or senate should be allowed to open it!!
@@Cuernavacachica02 that would be problematic for Legal Immigrants. I don't have issues with Legal Immigrants just the illegal ones.
@@JoyZofSoRRoW I don’t have a problem with legal immigration either! The system needs to fixed so that those who come in legally can get through but closed borders unless the gate opens for a legal immigrant.
They should do something on state level, its high times
Trust me, the aloha is still here in Hawaii…but the amount of houseless individuals coming here is overwhelming…
God Bless you guys!!
The relief and happiness seen on that last woman that you put up with her pup had me in tears.
I wish I could help everyone but one person at a time makes a world of difference!!
Thank you 🙏
It’s crazy because I noticed a few years ago in downtown Miami where there was a big community of homeless people was “cleaned” up. I told my husband that it seemed like the homeless community was being shipped off somewhere. Little did I know 😢
So much for supposedly having better opportunities to not be homeless.

That was just awesome to put her in a room with her dog. We all should help one another and this world would be a better place😊
❤thank you compassionate young men for getting the pup n lady 💖 a room. Tears of Graditude dripping 💦 from my eyes ...
Omgg Tyler thank you for giving the lady and her dog a room! I cried seeing how happy her pup was rolling around on the bed .❤😊
As for natives, they should look into the following;
DHHL provides direct benefits to native Hawaiians in many ways. Beneficiaries may receive 99-year homestead leases at $1 per year for residential, agricultural, or pastoral purposes. These leases may be extended for an aggregate term not to exceed 199 years.
Muricaaaaa
If it makes you feel better there aren't actually any natives left. The Polynesians wiped them out when they colonized the islands.
But does dhhl also give this if you have a drop of white blood even though you are narive
Hawaiian? 🤔
@@HanginInSF Hawaii was uninhabited until the Polynesians should up between the 4th and 7th centuries
I was happy to see someone receive help at the end of the video. Kudos.
Mahalo
Thank you for helping that lady and her dog. My heart goes out to everybody feeling anything less than loved.

Tyler: “who is that right there? is that weed is that?”
homeless guy: “no. it’s just Koala.”
They might as well get CDLs and get paid for it. Unreal what these times are becoming.

@@marlastanding-owl7739 Why not give them opportunities so serve the community through volunteerism in exchange for drug rehabiliation, temporary, food and shelter and prospective career training in the form of trades for the undereducated in areas like welding, plumbing, and carpentry? I wish there were more people doing this, I would def watch a full video of these types of interviews
