When I compared Samsung's 77" S90C against Sony's A95L the A95L looked appreciatively better. Such as playing a game on one side and watching a walkthrough on the other.2,3”. How can this be done ! ?

@stopthefomo i have a challenge for you. Play dune on hbo max on two different mini leds : a samsung and a sony. The samsung in the most accurate HDR filmmaker mode and the sony in DV dark. Skip to the desert halucination the main character has at about 1 hour and 38 minutes into the movie. We'll see what you have to say about DV then. PS: movies are not mastered in HDR 10 at their full potential because of the inherent limitations the format has. The hdr10 version of dune, like most other movies has color fidelity issues ( to reddish in this case ) while DV cleans all that up ( even on the BD version where there's only a minimum enhancement layer, a testament to the dolby engine efficacy ). The event i'm reffering to at the beginning of the comment is the fact that the DV version of dune is actually extremely bright in some scenes on capable mini led tvs.The fact is, you can't master movies at a high brightness at large windows sizes in hdr10 or you'll screw OLED users, but a dynamic metadata system like DV is more than up for the task. I'll just say this : watching the movie on a G2 was a dissapointment even after seeing it on a just midrange x90j

Also, settings wise I turn off the led indicator but the tv for some reason will always turn it back on after I had turned it on and off with the power button…anyone else experiencing these issues?
My menu was laggy but did a full factory reset and it’s perfect. Also try clearing the Cache in the apps. Should help too. Laggy when streaming. Pause and restart. Happens to me very seldom but that fixes it. Interesting on the power button. I have no issues at all however I wish it would stay lit when it’s off so you know the power is off.
that LED indicator seems to be a clear bug and it‘s super annoying, especially in dark. Even when disabled, when the TV is switched off for a bit longer , the LED is lit/active again when the TV is switched on. Then I have to go to the settings, switch it on/off (although the menu shows it’s deactivated). It only stays deactivated when I disable it, switch the TV off and shortly switch it on, but when you switch the TV on e.g. in 30min the LED is lit again. I can’t believe that practically nobody is talking about this issue. The factory reset didn’t help.

That kind of green/pink banding is showing various Sony TVs (WOLED or QDOLED) I tried over the past few years. Even in SDR. Sony seems like they don't know what they're doing as LG with the same WOLED panel doesn't show any of that. Most reviewers also don't notice or care. I would definitely never recommend any Sony TV ever again, as Sony themselves also doesn't see any problems with this.
Buying a Sony is buying into a brand label like a badge of honour..no different to buying a Gucci handbag or an Apple device which doesn't necessitate better.. Like purchasing the same white t-shirt but one has a Polo label
True, this isn’t the 90’s anymore where Sony had proprietary technology that truly made it better than the rest. Nowadays, Sony only makes the image processor, the rest is third party. Yet they DO price their TV’s as if it was the 90’s.
Only issue I have with my A95L Dolby Vision is my DV content on Paramount Plus doesn’t go into DV. That is it. DV works just fine on Netflix and Disney Plus. At first I thought it was an app problem but DV on Paramount Plus works on my A80K. Does anyone have any potential solutions. Have tried support for Sony and paramount as well as factory reset. I stream internally on my A80K and A95L.
I have the same exact issue, DV content on Paramount Plus internal app shows up as HDR only. However, if I connect an external streaming device to the A95L (I've tried both NVIDIA Shield and Roku Ultra) then DV works fine in Paramount Plus. So it's something about the internal (built-in) Paramount Plus app on the A95L. I also have a different problem with SDR content on the internal Hulu app (washed out colors and very oversharpened), but the same content looks fine if I run Hulu on an external streaming device. It's unfortunate, as otherwise the internal apps work fine for streaming and the interface is convenient.
@@chrisallen2483 hopefully it fixes itself out or a software update. Paramount Plus was fine at first. I haven’t noticed any issues with Hulu. But the Paramount Plus thing is annoying to me. Off topic Classy but are you still going to do a full calibration for the '23 S90C?
When I compared Samsung's 77" S90C against Sony's A95L the A95L looked appreciatively better. Motion was smoother as was the up-scaling of cable content on the A95L and streaming content looked cleaner on the A95L. Color and contrast also looked better on all content with the A95L. Shadow detail was also better on the A95L. Not as important, but the A95L's built-in TV audio was significantly better than the S90C by a lot. I had originally purchased the 77" S90C for our family room and moved it into the bedroom after seeing the 77" A95L that we now have in our living room. Also love Sony's Bravia Core streaming on the A95L!
Is this problem only on the a95L
Did you notice anything like this on the A80L when testing DV? Or is it a product of XR with the new Pentonic?
I had the same issue on every single Sony TV I tried over the past few years starting with the A8G and my last one the A95K.
Light browns and beige as well as skin tones break apart easily with some heavy green/pink banding. Sony doesn't acknowledge the issue.
@@DennisSchmitz Interesting. I haven’t noticed this on my A90J in DV Bright w Gradation Preferred, but now I’m scared to look. 👀
@@DennisSchmitz it is good that you reported this issue exists on the a95k as well because there is a notion that the a95k had perfect DV and the a95l has piss poor dv.
@@Sansho54Once you notice it you cannot unsee it. 😕
no it did NOT exist on the A95k.
I just got my 65” A95L but I’m not seeing where the Multi View settings are or how to do it ? Sony said “Multi View: Exclusively on the A95L, use Multi View to split your screen and enjoy watching content from two different sources at the same time. Such as playing a game on one side and watching a walkthrough on the other.2,3”. How can this be done ! ?
It’s a feature that will come in a future update supposedly
Thanks Classy.. always awesome!!
I have the very same issue on the Sony A95k I also reported the low saturation issue to Sony the engineers investigated into the issue and just said that it was due to low bitrate sources.
So the A95K has that pink/greenish anomaly too? Was considering that instead of the A95L but not if that’s the case
@Classy are you still planning on doing a full reciew of this TV? How about recommended settings? I am about a week or two away from taking delivery and I want to come out of the gate blazing. I have faith that Sony will push firmware to adjust some of these issues. I have no doubt in the capabilitiy of the hardware itself. My XBR900E has served me well for over 6 years.
Yes, hopefully next week.
@ClassyTechCalibrations appreciate you sir!
Can you get your hands on the hisense ux to review?
Hi classy and thank you for your work. Just got the 77in, I can see banding on 5% gray. A hard line and than it’s like dimmer from it to the end of the screen compared to the rest. Did you experience this with your set ?
the biggest problem i have with the tv is the audiolag.. i have a cinema 40 from marantz. and both my shield and dune mediaplayers have a delay.. and both different delays. my tv setup box als has a small delay. pc and ps5 and xbox are fine. i now hooked up my dune directly to the tv. and the audio back to the reciever through earc. nbow it runs fine. i hope sony will fix this problem.
Thank u classy! In football the logo dimming thing, will it be dimmed down significantly when put it on the low peak luminance. Im between A95L & G3 both in 77, i guess i will take A95L for my room, Movies, tv shows & gaming, i will be waiting for new oleds or getting the G3 for our BRIGHTY living room, Sports, movies & tv shows. Ur thought? Anyway thank u classy! 🙏🏼
Just don't get an oled. Problem solved with the auto dimming. Plenty of great mini led and FALD tv's out there
I have a 77A95L and I have no dimming issues in SDR or HDR with brightness and luminance on max. Luminance on low might be a bit dim. I watch a lot of Hockey too and no issues with dimming at all. Buy it you won’t regret it. If you’re unsure get it from a store with a decent return policy.
When watching Dolby vision content I’m finding I like Dolby Vision Bright with Brightness preferred over gradient prefered since u can’t adjust the brightness in Dolby vision bright . Things still look good tho , definitely love the a95l, but if I’m using it as a extended monitor for my M1 Mac and watching a movie from my Mac how do I get it to go to Dolby vision ?
So how does this win every shootout with these issues, with high price, and less features compared to other brands?
There's a bias in favor of Sony man, not from Classy he's not bias in the least. But in general among these reviewers they love Sony.

Why can't you get rid of the Soap Opera Effect on this TV? And why are all the practical lights in the sets of TV shows so hot?
Why would you have a 4K disc playing in SDR?
4k is resolution, SDR is dynamic range. Two different things.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Yes, I know. 4K discs are almost always in HDR and not meant to be converted to SDR. I don't see why anyone would do this.

@@HeavyMetalSonicRM I already answered you. UHD discs bring both, 4k resolution and in most cases (certainly not all) HDR. The point was the grade on the 4k disc for SDR is bad and it shouldn't be.

Hi Clasy, how is the uniformity at 5% gray scale ? I sent you an email about that, please check. thank you
If this issue is completely limited to streaming, then it’s clearly more of a low bit-rate/compressed content issue no? I had the A8H and yes streaming content looked much worse than disc bringing up issues like chrominance overshoot and occasional banding so this is not atypical. You can’t expect heavily compressed content to look perfect in every scene, no?
It's a processing issue with low bit rate content as it doesn't happen on other TVs or display devices.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations gotcha thanks. Do you think the pink/greenish tint issue is resolvable through a firmware update or nah?

And you all wonder why I’m not impressed by DV? It’s because so many TV makers don’t care. FYI LG G3 crushed blacks unless calibrated while Hisense is way too bright - this is why Samsung doesn’t spend the money on a feature that at best when working may look a little different
This issue is in HDR in general when streaming. A little worse in DV, but even in HDR10.
So,i am watching every content from both of you and i have to say thank you both from helping many of us with your tips and reviews👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻i have some questions,Is DV bad on your A95l also from other source? Like bluray discs,or streaming from bluray player? Or is it bad only when streaming directly on tv?
Thank you for answer
@@KhanHiFi DV will be fixed don't worry. The thing is, even with external devices, when that particular device has full flat dolby vision the tv will still be doing the tonemaping ( the feature is aptly named tv led dolby vision ). Don't trust fomo, DV is a great technology.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations true, it doesn't even come close to the BD treatment. In your opinion, what is the streaming service that offers the best HDR experience ? For me, it's hbo max followed by prime video and then netflix ( which is the worst )
This is so incredibly frustrating that seeing all the great things about this tv made me pull the trigger and return the x93L I had for this…and the menu is laggy and slow. More than the Dolby vision issues, this bother me the most. I have the most up to date software. I think it’s fine in normal viewing but streaming movies makes it laggy. Does anyone else notice this?

A95l will not allow you to use both Dolby vision and VRR 120hz on same input. Meaning if you have a receiver passing 120hz PS5 VRR on same HDMI to TV with Apple TV dolby vision/ Oppo Bluray player passing Dolby Vision you will not be able to use one input without going into Sony A95l tv setting each and every time to change the hdmi signal from 120hz on and off.
It does, but only certain receivers.

That kind of green/pink banding is showing various Sony TVs (WOLED or QDOLED) I tried over the past few years. Even in SDR.
Sony seems like they don't know what they're doing as LG with the same WOLED panel doesn't show any of that.
