We like our 2022 Legacy Limited XT very much after 2 years/15k miles and would definitely recommend it to someone who wants all-wheel drive but prefers a sedan. I will say, however, that the overall gas mileage (75% local for us) is not very good. That would be a lot more annoying if we drove more. ****Edit 5/5/24: We took a 200 mile trip - mainly highway at approx 60mph - and the gas mileage according to the trip meter was phenomenal. Higher than the EPA estimate.

The (non-turbo) Legacy is a sleeper in my opinion. My 2022 Limited is very comfortable and competent. Consistent 35 hwy mpg gets me 600 miles on a tank of regular gas.

I’m looking for an AWD car around this price point and think this might be the one. The Taos was pretty disappointing, and mostly everything else pushes my budget. Do you have any other suggestions?

Depends on what your intentions are with the car.
Subaru is known for their legendary symmetrical AWD. We really did love the Kia K5 GT-Line AWD we referenced in this video. But the Subaru was more powerful for sure.
Interested in SUVs? You referenced the VW Taos. Have you checked out the 2023 Kia Sportage?

@@GTGarageTalk I prefer the feel of driving a sedan to an SUV but most AWD sedans are simply too expensive. I haven't checked out the Sportage but might have to if you think it's worth it.

This one was fully loaded, but lower trims can be had with the hybrid powertrain as well. Honestly, the non-hybrid felt too weak for me.

Sedans make sense considering gas prices right now. Easy to drive, easy to park.

That KIA is a performance car….When my lease is up on my VW Tiguan SE, I am planning to get the Subaru Legacy.
If it is still in production( not turbo) don’t need that.

the GT-Line is meant to LOOK like a performance car but it's the GT that actually backs it up.
I hope you get and love your Subaru!

Less tired after a trip when driving a sedan compared to SUVs. Especially city driving. More fun to drive.

I can't vouch for the 2022 XT Legacy, but the 2023 Legacy XT Touring comes with Nappa leather, a step above the regular leather in the Limited.

Disappointed in my 2022 Touring XT. Oil leak at 716 miles. Currently at the dealership for warranty work on this issue. We own 3 other Subaru that is still in our household daily so I am not bashing Subaru. Just issues with the 2.4L T engine.

I took my 2021 Legacy Touring XT with 8,000 miles on it for an oil change (I'm doing them at every 4K miles). The tech discovered oil seepage around the oil pan. Fortunately it wasn't leaking on the ground yet. It took several weeks to get the gasket kit to fix it thanks to parts shortages. Yeah, I was disappointed as well that a year old car would have an oil leak already. I did some searching on various Subaru forums and it is a common problem with the new 2.4 turbo engine.

    • @aasillak
      @aasillak 2 роки тому +1

@@jeffmorse645 yep it’s common on the Outback Ascent and Legacy. Also parts were on nationwide backorder. Took a month to get the parts in and work completed. The drip was from the oil level sensor and when they replaced that, they had to reseal the lower oil pan gasket too. If it was the upper pan it’ll require the removal of the engine but since mine was the lower pan and oil level sensor, I was down for a few days. I’ve been monitoring mine since the warranty repair.

Hopefully they program the cvt better on the 22 model compared to the 21 model.
They need to put an update in to put a single button to turn off driver monitor and forward crash.
The drivers monitor will beep and go crazy if you simply look down at the speedometer, but does nothing if I turn around to look in the rear seat. It basically has a mind of its own.
The forward crash, is WAY to sensitive. I'm surprised there hasn't been more rear end crashes because of it. If someone cuts in front of you in traffic you better hang on. It engages so hard it sounds like the anti Lock breaks kicking in.
    I turn mine off.
Also the rear seats if occupied they have to have the seat belts on. If not you will get the annoying ding, that gets louder after 15 seconds or so.
Another peave on mine is the eye sight cover. The plastic piece rattles and squeaks. I put wedged some foam pieces in to keep it from speaking, has helped some but still does it.
I average about 29-30 mpg (actual check). Car does go great in the snow. Mine has the Yokohama tires on it, I know they use other brands too but I can't speak for them.
All in all I like the car, just a few things I wish was better on them.
It rides good, handles decent, and seats are comfortable, and decent mileage. I have a few hundred miles under 50,000 on mine so far.
Just some things to look out for before you purchase.
