  • Making with larger pieces of clay is an enjoyable challenge. The process is much the same as when making smaller pieces except a few props are needed and a bit of thought about the process before going ahead. The form of the piece I am demonstrating in this video is more challenging because of the rounder shaped base.
    I am using Earthstone Smooth Textured Crank which is covered with a slip made from Earthstone Handbuilding Material.

    Thanks for this very informative video. I just wondered though, if you apply that coat of another clay, does it have to have the same shrinkage percentage?

      You can apply clay slip without any problem. If you put it on very thick it might crack but no problem with thinner layers.
