Do not skip the fishing quartermaster! he has a cool questline and he also lets helps you raid the navy base to get his gear back. After that quest he becomes a great addition to your ship granting 3 separate buffs. Defense, Speed and i think ramming defense as well. Most definitely worth the fishing quest.
The Edward guy gets a quest to upgrade him after you equip him. You just have to talk to him. I think he gives your boat extra defense and something about waves.
Nice video, you seem to have missed 2 ship mechanics being: sail cloths and hull Armour. Both of these items you get from bronze sealed chests. The worst sail cloth I have seen increases ur ship speed by 5 and the best I have gives 9 speed. Not that important but a small boost nonetheless. And hull Armour wich is more important I have pretty good hull Armour on my frigate and it gives me an extra 2k ship hp. Just wanted to point those out.
I just noticed, that the higher renown you have affects the prices of repairing your ship, it was at first expensive as hell at 137 gold then it went all the way down to 50 then a measly 9 gold, in all scenarios my ship was entirely out of hp. Since you are a bounty player, it might be better for you to go for a criminal shipwright for repairing. Perhaps this is a hidden feature.
the dudes at ravenna regret their actions because they were forced to murder the interrogation victims or their family would be killed btw edward kenton can be upgraded by his secret mission (idk when the mission pops up) it makes him look for badasss and villainy looking but hes actually a good guy he left the marines cause of the evil higher ups
my issues with this part are when i get swarmed by 5 fortified ravenna caravels, and my ship not repairing between attempts, so it always spawns with like 150 hp, making it impossible to reach the other island, i managed to sink the ships, and thought i could make it, but they respawn and can ram me from behind for 1.5k edit: managed to make it through by dragging the crew far from the shore then running back, putting my ship, and making a beeline for the escape, while repairing my ship with the hammer the whole time, ship broke right at the shore of the second island, so i was able to make it out.
i ship hunt with cannon fist but when i loot them my quest of sinking a fortified pirate ship doesn't count and i get no chests like the way i get no b-

If the pirates keep running away, then just use chain shot, this is VERY useful since the pirate and assassin ships are gonna be faster then you since they have upgrades, chain shot is really good for both cannon and ram users, heck why do you think you see the more stronger pirate and assassin caravels using them?
Blueprints from sealed chest might give you a canon with your magic type. Sealed chest can be obtained by sinking ships like in the video, or simply hunting for treasure maps.
You still use same cannonball, the lesser elements cannon will imbue magic into cannon like conjurer player imbue magic into weapon and add effect to them such as lightning cannon will increase cannonball velocity and range
Is it a bad idea to start pirate ship raiding at low level? What level do I start raiding ships? My problem of failing the raid all the time is because the captain is too strong. I couldn't even get past half of its health and it just keeps on bombarding shit everywhere, and before I know it I'm dead. Also, I raid the fortified caravel ones and at I am level 92 conjurer (probably a bad idea before awakening) and I use caravel with ram and heavy cannon so sinking isn't a problem.

And If so, are they Better than Edward and enizor?
They are basically like crew but except they can level up and even repair your ship if the level is high enough along with providing buffs like stability, resistance, turning speed, speed, Hull, Ram strength, ram armor, ram speed They also have varying rarities like Common, Uncommon, Rare and legendary. Legendary deckhands I believe need like 300k-700k fame to recruit I think? And they could most likely level up more than the lower rarity counterparts

Theres also a copper repair hammer you can buy, if I remember correctly I bought it at Thorin's Refuge which is west of Frostmill.

The npcs you can get with fame are deckhands
