After much procrastination over which Hilleberg I hopefully have a green Staika coming to me tomorrow. I'm glad to have seen one here in the worst of weather. Maybe I'll meet you wild camping heroes on a windy hill sometime? Great video and a nod to the Bushman too!
That tent is custom designed for those antics. Very enjoyable stuff. Blencathra has easy escape routes but that weather looked pretty tasty all the same. On the limit of sanity I reckon. Loved it all the same.
Jolly enjoyable viewing, those disco lights are the biz haha :) And that Staika took an absolute battering and just shrugged it off....bonus points awarded for getting out of the tent in those conditions and doing some filming. That's one you two will defo remember for a while to come :)

I had a plan involving bailing but better to remain the cloud came down. The head torch was just reflecting back at me. No good for navigating. I knew it’s limits. It’s a beast. Now give me my crux back 😂 cheers for watching mate. Atb 👍

I’m pleased I binned my plans. Storm Arwen did the same to me in Swaledale lunchtime in the Tan hill wasn’t a breath of wind with blue sky, oh how that changed. Pleased the £1200 tent held up👍

I remember you going over Sharp Edge in the snow, a few years back, think you must be getting to old and decerped too, never mind Thompo lol! Leanne looked frozen but you did get some amazing views from where you did end up pitching and looked dam cosy in the disco tent. The tent stood up well mind in that weather and I would have hated to be higher up in those conditions. To be honest, I think you are better consulting with a fortune teller than the weather forecast, take care and well done to your lady friend, that looked brutal! Cheers Alan

I’ll guarantee there’s only a few tents would’ve taken that. In my experience I’ve not felt violent gusts like it. Off camera it was brutal. I’m so impressed with the tent now. It just flexed. It is THE black label tent. Utter bombshelter. Any other tent except the BL soulo wouldn’t have taken that. I’m not gonna spoil it but BM’s tent didn’t survive again 😂 Atb mate 👍

Cracking mate but what a contrast in days! Day one textbook then day 2 winds clag the lot! Well in for dealing with it as 70mph gusts are hard to sleep in. Mind I’d have dropped down you’ve nowt to prove and better to enjoy it than endure it 🙌🏼. Is it true you cut the end of your sleeping bag off and topped and tailed? I had my S2S lightweight mat. The orange one. I had to make a bit more room in my backpack to accommodate the staika. Xtherm was Leanne’s. That tent was absolutely awesome like. No bent poles nowt. Proper test this time. Atb mate 👍

Awesome 👍.....don't feel the need to explain your desire to go out in challenging weather Andy...that's why we spend small fortunes on our gear and it takes all weather types to learn the craft and earn the experience that you need for the bigger higher adventures......it's easy to say " Fuck This Captain Mannering I'm off "........if you have the right gear and can hack it go for it lad ;)

It's been a while to watch a wild camping video...as you maybe aware it's all camping in the van rock up and drive away with a lush bed and heating. However correct me if I'm wrong but the tent you camped in would have pissed them conditions if you had pitched up for bad winds....education from the lazy camper lol....what did you do wrong 2 things ill let you tell me much love x
Howay man. 😂 there was no sense of wind direction when I pitched. As a full geodesic it didn’t matter. It’s a monster of a tent. No bent poles. No rips. No stress. I would’ve killed for a camper van though 😂 hope you’re ok mate. 👍 Atb

And keep the gut lines out as far as you can haway lad you should have had your micro spikes a d pitched it on the top wind gauge out and hit the 90 mph lol still waiting to see someone to pass the 85mph

Cracking mate but what a contrast in days! Day one textbook then day 2 winds clag the lot! Well in for dealing with it as 70mph gusts are hard to sleep in. Mind I’d have dropped down you’ve nowt to prove and better to enjoy it than endure it 🙌🏼. Is it true you cut the end of your sleeping bag off and topped and tailed? Enjoyed that pal but that DJ/MC was a bit suss 😂. ATB Steve
Aye it was tough. I knew there’s an easy path down from there and a bit shelter but still got battered like. I slept standing up me. In me bag. With a hat on. It’s the future. 😂 Atb 👍

Was wild .. can deal with the rain and cold but the wind I can’t deal with .I bailed off at 5 am after a sleepless night.

Staika looked to take all the elements in its stride! No S2S extreme mat, you moved to the Xtherm instead?
I had my S2S lightweight mat. The orange one. I had to make a bit more room in my backpack to accommodate the staika. Xtherm was Leanne’s. That tent was absolutely awesome like. No bent poles nowt. Proper test this time. Atb mate 👍
@@AndyWardle never really seen any videos of the Staika being tested but it 100% shows what it’s capable of.
@@patchy1995 I think 15-20 mph more would be its limit. The poles are unreal. Just pop back into shape. The 9mm poles would snap

Awesome 👍.....don't feel the need to explain your desire to go out in challenging weather Andy...that's why we spend small fortunes on our gear and it takes all weather types to learn the craft and earn the experience that you need for the bigger higher adventures......it's easy to say " Fuck This Captain Mannering I'm off "........if you have the right gear and can hack it go for it lad ;)
Yeah it proved it’s worth on this. Glad I took that tent. I think it was easier to stay put rather than bail. Wasn’t high up. And an easy path down. Good adventure though. Cheers for watching atb 👍

It's been a while to watch a wild camping video...as you maybe aware it's all camping in the van rock up and drive away with a lush bed and heating. However correct me if I'm wrong but the tent you camped in would have pissed them conditions if you had pitched up for bad winds....education from the lazy camper lol....what did you do wrong 2 things ill let you tell me much love x

😂 there was no sense of wind direction when I pitched. As a full geodesic it didn’t matter. It’s a monster of a tent. No bent poles. No rips. No stress. I would’ve killed for a camper van though 😂 hope you’re ok mate. 👍 Atb

And keep the gut lines out as far as you can haway lad you should have had your micro spikes a d pitched it on the top wind gauge out and hit the 90 mph lol still waiting to see someone to pass the 85mph
