ANOTHER WILDCAMP UP OVER THE BORDER, A NICE WALK THROUGHT HE VILLAGE UP INTO THE HILLS, PICKING FRUIT ALONG THE WAY, PEACE AND QUIET UNTIL I MET THE MOB.. I SAW THE COWS AND REALISED ID HAVE TO GO THROUGH THEM TO REACH MY DESTINATION, SO I DID. THEY CAME OVER TO ME TO INVESTIGATE AS THEY DO. NOW TO REMAIN CALM IS ESSENTIAL, MAKE YOURSELF BIG TO THEM IF THEY COME TOO CLOSE AND MOST OF ALL DONT PANIC, ITS RARE FOR PEOPLE TO GET HURT OR TRAMPLED IN OPEN SPACES. BEST AVOIDED OF COURSE BUT HOPEFULLY MY ACTIONS CAN DEMONSTRATE HOW TO COPE, AFTER THAT I GOT SET UP AND SETTLED IN, WEATHER WAS KIND ENOUGH TO HOLD OFF UNTIL THE TENT WAS UP.. THEN IT TURNED ENJOYABLE CAMP AND FULL OF INCIDENT. HERES TO THE NEXT ONE.
I've lost count of the times I've walked among or near a cow herd as a boy. The only time I got chased was, naturally, by a bull. A year or so ago I got charged by a herd of big black & white cows. I had to jump a fence to safety. Something has changed with these new breeds, they're not as docile as those of old.
No cows are scary, we got cornered by about 10 of those horrible black cows 8 years ago and even a lass who spent all her life on a diary farm was terrified, we had a real lucky escape that day. I think they must have senses you were carrying steaks in you back pack, you are lucky to be alive! Cheers Alan
😂 they knew not to mess is all. Tough Geordies like. 😂😂. But aye they can be pretty intimidating and if you don’t like them it’s awful. Every time I went a different way they followed. So I just went for it. The best advice is avoid them though. Atb. 👍
I was once told by a farmer that the only cows to try a give a wide birth to are beef cows with young calf’s….not sure how accurate that is but it’s seen me right over the years. Great video again thanks Andy 👍👍
Probably very accurate. If they had calf’s here I’d have walked round. They’re very protective. Cheers for watching. 👍
Dinnae be scared of the cows, they thought you were gonna feed them, look how excited they were 😍
😂 I’m taking beef sandwiches next time. 👌
Oh I love this look at them views. Northumberland and the Scottish Borders I simply love was there September back again mid December. Mainly for Kielder Observatory but always love a long walk at the Reservoir and Kielder forest. Lovely escape from London. Thanks for videos. My last visit encounter with some lamas which was little different 😅😊.
Yep it’s a special place. I’ve been here years and still finding new places. If you like Northumberland and the borders check out my van channel. andyscampervan-fj19
I do more on the area on there. Thanks for watching atb 👍
Good camp. Nice stove. Send Nammatj. It was passed down by ancient tribal elders that if you make the sound of the female Otter mating call, it tends to keep the cows away. ATB
😂 I tried. I sounded like a weasel. Probably need to practice.
I love that stove like. Be great in winter for warming up beside. Send piglets tails for earrings. 👍
Nice one Andy , no way I would’ve went through them mate 😬, spoil a good walk for me those buggers 😝,thanks for the advice but I’ll just keep avoiding them 👍🏻,atb Deka 👍🏻😎
Best is to avoid like. But me being hard and that 😂😂. Also every time I went a different way they followed me. So I just went for them instead 😂. Atb. 👍
I once got chased by cows on a walk. Literally ran for my life as they ran towards me like a herd of Usain Bolt’s! I tell you cows can run FAST! There was no way I was chancing standing my ground 😂
These ran at me. I just turned and stood them down. They’re wankers like. They are scary. Best to avoid. 👍
You dealt with them silly cows perfectly. I have had a couple follow me which stunned me and also a flock of sheep charging towards me. I told them to calm down and they did luckily as they were used to a Lancashire accent clearly. Great camp though Andy with some nonsense which is perfect. Never change fella take care pal
Yeah they aren’t that bad once you make friends 😂 sheep can be naughty too. They’ll all be in for winter soon so we get easier lives 😂 cheers for watching 👌
There young bullocks, always will be intrested and inquisitive to you and seeing who you are. Been brought up around farms and theyve always been like it arms out and away cows to them and they leave you alone
Aye. I was around them as a kid so I’m ok with them. The ones with calf’s are the main worry. Best avoid those types. 👍
ahh well done Andy! Yeah best to be aware as you say they can sometimes be unpredictable eh. Hilleberg like a fortress. Food looked great!
Very unpredictable. Best avoided. Tent was awesome thankfully. And a little secret. The food wasn’t great 😂😂 🤫 Atb 👍
The Geordie cowboy yeeeehhhhaaaa...very enjoyable video and a pitch with great views...many thanks
Lovely view. And I could keep an eye on them 🐄 😂. I need a Stetson. 👍
Love your videos! Big inspo 😍Those cows! Had the same thing happen on a run earlier, mowthers and babbies, hard to not keep running when your running anyway and they are chasing you 😅 also encountered massive beetles on my last camp and thought they were mice 🙈 best wishes, Sarah
Yeah the ones with calves are the worst. I’m not sure if these were youngsters or not. Weren’t t that big so maybe. Just playful wee beasts. 😂 aye lots of creepy crawlies about. It’s no good being worried about them either just grab and throw. 😂😂. Cheers for watching. Keep up the camping. 👍
@@AndyWardle grab and throw 🤣💪🏻 do NOT enter the Hillary Hilleberg 😆
@@SoloSarahBXthat’s it 😂 I grab everything. Nothing gets in there. 😂😂
really loved that wee stove, i take a couple of pie dishes/baking dishes from morrisons, good for stabilising gas can and also putting hot things down in an emergency. remember if youre using gas to heat up a tent a bit, always leave the inner open a bit, and maybe even put a rock or sumthin to hold the outer up a bit. ps. i've been out stared by cows once when i wanted to cross a field, i bottled it, but they were glasgow cows, probably had knives hehehe
Stove is great. It’ll be good in the colder months. I always have it well ventilated. I know about the gas. Cows need to hibernate 😂
I had a mad experience with cows the other week. I tried to sneek past them into some woods but they were all over us
They can be a pain. Curious creatures. Won’t give up until they’re bored. 🐄. 👍
Probably followed you cos of the meat selection in the rucksack 😂, those steaks were maybe a long lost relative haha. Nice area, can’t beat pitching anywhere you fancy and settling in for the neet, priceless. Those hills you pointed out look mint like. Catch you soon wor kid, Atb 👍
😂 wanting their relatives back 😂😂 yeah it’s great ower there. Thanks for showing me. Ruined now though. Bloody cattle. I think the schill was over the back behind me. I looked on the map. Wasn’t far away. 😖. Atb mate. 👍
Great camp Andy . Cant wait to get my Soulo bl out , its getting near that time .
Yep definitely glad I took it on this. The wind never let up. 👍
That are after that tasty ipa you have in your backpack mate 😂😂great vid nice area that 👍👍
😂 imagine. Drink cows. Even worse.
Yeah it’s great up there. Plenty more spots to find I reckon. Atb 👍
Cows creep me out and it doesn’t help I wear bright tops, thought me and milesy were going to be charged the other month I was preparing to trip him up so I could get a head start 😂. Ha ha “ I know it’s on as I can smell my arm hairs burning” lol. Another camp done and dusted mate. Glad you’re safe and well and the cows didn’t chin ya. ATB Steven
😂 cows know I’m hard so it’s ok. Burning hair test is ideal like. I’ll do it again. Always trip ya mate if the cows come at ye like. It’s the only way. 😂 😂. Catch ya later. 👍
I had a bad cow experience a few weeks back. One of them started practically screaming and soon after they all charged at me! It was awful!
I was interested to see how you managed it because I now seem to have a fear of them. I've been advised to take a walking pole with me to use as a barrier but I like your technique of making yourself bigger (I'm 5ft though sooo... 😅).
They can be scary. Making yourself bigger is a popular suggestion. Best avoided of course but if no choice you need to be bold and cautious. 👌
You reminded me of that song by deep purple. You had the mooooves like Jagger in this one Andy.
I’m looking up cow puns. I can’t cope 😂😂😂😂
@@AndyWardle Sorry Andy I couldn't help it, your videos bring out the cowmedian in me.😉🤣
As a Hiker, I have had a couple of pretty scary experiences and once got charged by over 20 young bulls. Nowhere to run so just had to stand my ground but was really scary as was with the missus as well. They're so fast too, far quicker than most people realise. To be honest, I think any public footpath should be fenced off from cow hurds. Far too many people killed on public paths for my liking. The Govt only cares about harassing motorists though, not protecting hikers,
Yeah there’s been some horror stories like. That’s the thing to do though. Stand your ground. Try not to get cornered as they’ll jostle you. That’s when injuries occur. I’m ok with them wandering about I look for beware signs if there’s none they shouldn’t be dangerous. Just curious like this daft lot. 😂😂 Atb 👍
You need some cow repellent mate! 😊
I can see the new Halloween Movie 🎥 🎃 . The attack of the killer Cows 🐄 Moo Baby Moo...
😆
Swishtail large repel 😂😂😂😂
@@AndyWardle
🤣🤣🤣
Wardle, my boy, never take any animal for granted, especially horses. I will never cross a field if they are in there.
Cows I’m fine with. I don’t like horses. 🐎 can’t work them. My sister has horses. I’ll not go near them 😂.
Yeah im scared of them. Had a few close calls one i had to throw me bike over a wall and jump it to get away from the beef cattle at Middleton. Those ones you were dancing with must be the ones i went through but they were with the mums. Obv been seperated since. Really good advice 👌. Its lush up there. Ive been up that way alot recently. Love it. Another corker andy. Take care
I thought you’d be Alreet wi coos living in the sticks. But aye they’re sometimes a bit much for me too. You can see it in their eyes I tell ya. I’ll avoid if possible but I had nowhere else to go. They blocked my every turn 😂 they knew. They just knew. Cheers for watching wor kid. Atb 👍
@AndyWardle aye you'd think but I'm just not that ard lad
@@emz_adventure 😂. Too kind. You need to be ruthless
Firemaple should put that in their instructions… “check for the smell of burned hair to make sure it’s lit” 😄
We’ve got one of their stoves on the way (different model) and the range looks really good 👌🏼
😂 I need my turbo flame. The lighter doesnt like the wind. Great range firemaple. There’s some nice gear. It’s cheap enough too. You could’ve used my discount code 😖. Next time. Atb 👍
@@AndyWardle it’s a freebie 😉
@@Professionalmoochers even better 👌
Best to avoid cows as they very unpredictable and not as quite or nice as some people think great video looking forward to more
Definitely best avoided. I tried but they followed me 😂 cheers for watching 👍
I live on a beef farm and my border collie helps out with the cattle so that comes in handy when I'm out and about but on farm I always carry a crook..or walking stick, no need to hit them but it's ideal when we getting them in as you can make yourself look much bigger by holding the stick out. So I walk with trekking poles which are great for warding off cattle. Vast majority of times they just curious and will turn away if you turn into them. If they are either in calf or have calves with them then give them a wide berth and keep dog on short leash as a cow with a calf will definitely stand its ground if approached.
Farmer really shouldn't be putting any stock out on or by public paths if they have calves or are known to be troublesome but not all farmers are considerate...surprise surprise 😂
Yeah what you say is what I was told. Apart from letting the dog off the lead if they come for it. The dog will outrun any cows. I was always told to stand my ground and put my arms out. (Look big) and they’ll stop. Then they usually lose interest like this time. It makes you wonder when they’re out on public footpaths mind. Maybe they’re not dangerous. Just daft 😂😂😂 Atb 👍
@@AndyWardle as you did tho, try not turn your back on them, treat them with respect. Farmer by us few years ago got out tractor in far field to open bale of silage for cattle, tripped on something fell over and the bastards nearly killed him, managed to get back in tractor, broke few ribs mind. A bigish dog will rip a cows legs open if it pesters them so best keep it on leash but I suppose if turned nasty its every man and dog for itself🤣
@@philjones3335aye. That’s what I mean if they do attack the dog let it go.
thy needs a coo prodder 🤔that burner is like a furnace will double up as gas fire 🔥lice
😂 a flexy prod. I’m looking forward to a winter camp with the Falkirk flame 🔥 like 😂😂 the heat was great. 👍
Best to keep Moo..vin.🐄
I’m googling cow puns so I can keep up 😂
With cows Andy, just whack the nearest one smack bang on the snoz with a big haymaker. Don't know if it'll work, but if you film it and it does then we'll know what to do. 😉
Cheers, Paul
😂 funny you say that. I slapped one once. It just looked stunned then ran off. I laughed for about an hour later 😂😂😂
@@AndyWardle
🤣🤣
The only cow I’m scared of is my misses 😂
😣 if she reads this I’m not to blame 😂😂😂
If she reads this mate It was good watching your vids while it lasted 😂👍🏼
😂
👋🏻
Good video Andy - good job you didn’t have to fist any cows 🤣🤣🤣 maybe could have done with more footage of your German sausage mate 🤣🤣🤣😜😜👌👌
😂 holy mackerel. Innuendo time.
The sausage will reappear I didn’t scran it. 😂😂
@@AndyWardle get it out man 🤣😜 no point in hiding it away in the shadows 🤣🤣🤣 Soulo bl ? Or have you just upgraded the pole(s) you broke after you couldn’t be bothered to pitch the borrowed hilli properly 😜😜😜😜🤣🤣🤣

Buggers them cows…..beef buggers 🐄 🐄 🐄 🍔
😣 😂 they will end up on my plate one day.
Those stirks were just curious who you were. Thought you may have food for them.
Probably recognised me 😂 off moooo tube. 💪
Sound advice, same applies walking past The Gate in Newcastle at 11 pm whilst carrying a kebab.
I’d rather face the coos like 😂😂😂
When i was on patrol in ireland many moons ago i did manage to get on the back of one for a ride, albeit it a fast violent painful and short lived experience (not recommended)
No definitely not on my list 😂
It's only sheep that's attacked me, at least was a ram. Making noise scares them. I recently had a herd of bullocks across the path, so rather than walk through them, another 100ish metres, there was another that went past them. Once I went towards the other path, they all ran to the other path. As I walked towards them, they started running fast downhill towards the me. I waved and clapped my hands as I walked towards them and one by one, they bottled it. At about 10m the lead bull went away and left me to continue. Not scary but I'm wary. Just don't run from them.
Sounds a bit familiar. I was going uphill in this bit too which hindered my niftyness 😂 but yeah they are skitzy at times. Like you say if you’re loud and big they’ll stop. I’m told they’re just curious. Some folks can’t deal with it though. Hopefully this shows it’s not all bad. I think bulls get a bad press too. They’re just big lazy things 😂😂 it’s the heifers that come to you. Atb mate. 👍
Just as well they are lazy. I've seen some bloody big bulls knocking around recently. 😅
@@life-outdoorssome are huge. Terrifying like
Andy - "Im making myself big!.."
Cow - "Is that a farmer come to feed us?.....whoa! whats he deein?"
Cow 2 - "Making himself look bigger it looks like?"
Cow - "Why?"
Cow 2 - "Dunno, maybe to try scare us away."
Cow - "Does that work on us?"
Cow 2 - "Dont think so, I think it works on Bears though."
Cow - "It might work on Bears but its just confusing me."
Andy - "See, I've made myself big and stopped them in their tracks"
😂. It worked though. 🐄
Looked cols, saw the cows and I felt friesian .....
Aye best avoid them, and horse flys knock about round them, I got bit of one o them horesflies, nasty😢
So many puns 😂😂😂 all bad.
Everything was knocking about that night like. Good job I’m hard 😂😂😂 💪 ha. Atb mate 👍
the cows think your bringing food, they wont bother you it can be unnerving when theres a big herd running towards you
Yeah that’s what freaks people out when they come trotting along. Hopefully this shows what to do. 🤷♂️. 🐮. 👍
Horrible things 🐄
Can be. Just curious. Show them an empty pie case and they’ll be off 😂 😂
When you got the real ⛺ why would you use the giant trash bag😅
I like to “mix it”. 😎
Nice one Andy
The cows of death bloody scare me!
I had them run at me and my kids before !!!🫣🫣🐮🐮🐮🤠
Cheers Graham
They’re buggers like. If they run at you stand your ground. I guarantee they’ll stop short. Not so much with the kids mind 😂😂 cheers for watching. Atb 👍
Mate what's the model of your waterproof jacket please?
Montane levity. Loving it so far. 👌
You need to be wary Andy, and you were. Very aware. All joking apart, they can inflict some damage, especially if its cows with young. Me and a mate got caught in amongst a herd of mums and calves up Cononish while going to climb and camp on Ben Lui. We walked away from them up a verge but the farmer and his hand (herding on an ATV) were ripping us for "being scared of them". I (using my best profanities) asked the farmer what the F was it? Are they harmless? Or dangerous? He apologised and told me we did the right thing.......I told him I knew that cos i used to work on a farm.......twat!!! Anyhoo, well handled mate. Nae doobt some plonker will come along in a minute to slag you off......good ol you tube. ATB pal
😂 they can slag me off all they want mate. Its educational. I’ve only been worried once and I got charged without seeing them I turned round just in time like. Unreal I never heard them. They stopped dead in their tracks and I hopped a fence. If this helps just 1 person my work is done. My top advice is avoid them like. But sometimes you can’t. Atb mate. 👍
Risk your life or not up to you
No risk involved here. 👍
They kill walkers every year
Rare but yes it happens
Bordering on homosexual (a sin against God) the way you complain about the weather. Shame on you.
Have you been drinking lad ?? It’s the British way to complain about the weather. You should know that
*_Hello Mr Andy... if I were to be more precise in calling it savanna at your wild camping location, and I really like the natural panorama, it's wide, and it turns out this savanna is also a place for grazing cows...?, there's a river that can be used as a source of drinking water huh?.... Greetings to meet me, Rudy Tutorial Ourdoor_* 👣👣👣🏕💯👌👍👏🤝🙏
Yeah there’s a river down at the bottom of the hill. Over here we call it the countryside. Not as vast as savannahs. Thanks for watching. 👍
