2024 Yamaha YZ250F First Ride on Levi Kilbarger's '24 Indy SX Bike!

Quick ride on a 2024 YZ250F at RT62MX (thanks Blake!). This is the bike that Levi Kilbarger raced at the Indy SX this year! I wish it still had the dual fuel injector system on the bike but the stock engine still runs strong. There is a little less throttle response way down low compared to the '22/23 YZ250F engine but once into the mid range the roll on torque feels very strong - especially for a 250F. This bike had an engine map the Levi developed along with a Bill's Pipe full exhaust system. The power was smooth and pulled well on top though not as high revving as the latest Austrian 250F's. Levi did the suspension on this bike using Race Tech Gold Valves and targeting Blake's 250B speed and 135 lb weight. Needless to say it felt very plush for my 190lbs however it still had very good damping control. I really like the way the new chassis feels on the YZ250F - more agile and responsive feeling (especially in corners) and better ergonomics. The '24 YZ250F is a fun bike to ride with 2-stroke like snappy engine response with perhaps the best partial throttle torque feel of any 250F. Easy to see why these bikes are so popular!

Great you finally tested the new Yami 250f. One Question: How would you rate the low to mid Power between the 22-24 CRF 250 and this one? Which is better there and all around?

The 22~24 CRF250R has a nice low to mid engine response and revs very freely. The YZ250F engine has a little more torque feel at partial throttle in the low to mid RPM range. The Yamaha KYB suspension on the 22/23 YZ250F was much better than the stock Showa setting on the 22~24 CRF250R. This bike did not have stock suspension but still KYB. I would give the overall edge to the 24 YZ250F in terms of engine/suspension/handling over the 24 CRF250R.

It was a fun bike - the new chassis makes it more agile and fun especially in the corners
