Very interesting to me that they used a 23 KTM INSTEAD OF A 24… Unless, for some reason they put the previous years plastics on it that is definitely a 2023 as the new bikes have a lot more purple and less lettering on the shrouds. The difference are negligible but it is an interesting observation.
? Moto-Cross Action magazine rated the Yamaha in 4th place. Cycle News rated it in 1st place. I will age myself. In 1978 Cycle News did a shootout on the Yamaha YZ250 vs Honda CR250. Cycle News said to buy the Yamaha. I did, it was not even close to the Honda. To this day the 1978 Honda CR250 is a top pick in the vintage races.
"YZ Excel in top range and over rev"? I don t understand......for some it is a down low mid range motor and for other lile cycle news it excel also on over rev ? How is it possible ?
What bike would you recommend for a 160 pound 16 year old coming off a supermini? Only for track and I’m definitely not crazy fast, just want a cool fun 250?
KTM 250SXF by far. Just be good about basic maintenance (like any machine). 4-strokes need oil /filter changes every 10hrs or LESS. Air filter is crucial as well ..just like 2-strokes. Fresh quality fuels always! Maxima sells pre-oiled filters ready to go! Have a few on standby. -NY
I own a glass shop and got turned down for a loan on a 300 smoker. How can a kid ride now days?? If a kid doesn't have parents with money he's pretty screwed
@@dylanp9211 I have resorted to building/riding vintage stuff....I have 3 pretty nice vintage bikes, and don't have close to $10k in all three combined

What are you talking about I just seen one for sale ? I just looked it up. It probably wasn’t available when you did the video. It now is available I see what happened. lol

Thanks! Keep up great reporting.👍🏻#KTM #Yamaha -NW Ohio

That is a great observation. We believe its just the shroud and possibly a mistake from the KTM techs. Obviously we ride whatever they bring us.
Same bike as last year.
Zero changes except ugly new graphics and no orange frame.
$10k for a 250?! Who can afford a new bike?? Insanity.
I'll buy and mod a surron before that
Paraphrasing The Dude here…Obviously you’re not a cyclist.
Yeah, but if you have decent credit you can finance one for less than a family plan cell phone bill.
@reineherrera8897 yeah, 6k to pedal 😅😅😅
@@panic-revv85for a middle tier bike too. That is the joke here haha.
Thanks for a great 250cc test, but now is there anyway you can test the new 2024 Triumph 250cc against the results of all these?
Also forgot the Triumph 250, Triumph seemly says it’s ready for sale. Look forward to hear about it 👍
As far as we know, bikes are not available yet. Believe they're available come spring of '24.
where can I find that "responsive torque map"??
I feel like if you were wide open the entire time on the ktm it'll gap the Yamaha easily

To be fair moto cross action is always Austrian bias
Be very interesting to see how a Stark set at 48 HP compared to all the BNG bikes (except for Yamaha and Triumph)
That's actually a very interesting idea.
Can u share the one u put in
"YZ Excel in top range and over rev"? I don t understand......for some it is a down low mid range motor and for other lile cycle news it excel also on over rev ? How is it possible ?
I actually own the bike and can confirm it's all low and mid ! I've just changed over from a 2022 kxf 250 and that bike revved wayyy further
If you’re heavier than 175 I assume the crf250r front fork is fine? That’s the only knock I’ve heard on it and it’s all from smaller guys?
I just rode one and I’m a muscular 190-195 with gear. The forks felt horrible on braking bumps
Yamaha YZ250F remains king👑
For now...

@@Davido50 I’m thinking the husky 250 is the way to go because I’m shorter and the how he describes less aggressive power delivery might be nice?

Really. Wow thats crazy man I'm trying to get another moto bike gonna sell my Harley.

You must have bad credit that’s the case for almost any loan

How come you didn’t use the 50th anniversary KX like you did the YZ ?
The 50th is only available for the KX 450 not the 250.

Best review, well done. Detailing more critical information than other shootouts.
Thanks you for the note!
Good reviews......wish you had a couple of real old guys in your ratings. I'm thinking Husky would be best for me...not my bank account tho.
Crazy expensive modern world.

Great job as usual 👊🏻
Thank you!
I'm sorry , but you can't call it a proper shootout if you don't have the TF250X in there too
Please forgive us, it was not released at the time of this test.
All new Triumph 250F looks awesome. 48hp (to crank) which is best in class as well as lightest in class. #unbeatable
What is the reasone app
A different map yahmaha designed to make the bike more responsive under throttle
Change the gearing on the ktm to 13-50 and all the other bikes will feel like they have 5 less horsepower. lol.
450 is lighter
Nah, KTM 790 Adventure is best motocross bike. ^_^
Ear plugs??? Man you must be getting Old.
Lol thanks for watching.
