Great review, you can never go wrong with the trusty time tested Yamaha’s.

That front rotor is a floated rotor, and I regularly put 80 to 100 hrs on them before replacing, they do get a lot of play in them but they last long time. Also, very good review and sentiments on this bike. I feel the same as you. And when you describe being a kid seeing the bike coming down the road and smelling the smell I felt that inside my soul.

Another item I'd recommend for big power gains is the STIC Super X carb. It put my SC back in its box. Where metering rod carbs still need porting and head mods for big gains, the X on a stock engine creates a completely dialed race engine build from low end thru an extended broader peak HP. I use this on my 200 to hunt down bugger bores at the tracks and I've assisted 125, 250 and 300 riders to do the same. STIC also offers a metering block for the PWK carb. It is nearly as outstanding. Either product is a great value in that they do not rely on any engine changes period. Well, I do use the slowest turn G2 throttle cam for my MX tune. Otherwise exiting slow turns is mayhem for line choice into a jump face.
Just another choice, but I've talked to two 125 riders that returned to stock, as they did not know how to tune it for less gains or softer delivery.

I hate kick starts, but lets be honest if you wanna 2 stroke bike that you can ride for years to come with minimum issues, this is the one to get. If you wanna keep the bike for some time, you dont want to be dealing with electronics and injection on orange bikes.

The YZ is great for fast flat out rides or fast moto. You bring that YZ bike along one of my rides up huge long gnarly hills and my tricky tight technical single track, and the KTM, Sherco and Beta will completely out perform it by far. Have fun on that flat stuff, that bike is perfect for that.

You’re correct. I own a ‘18 Yz250x and love it. However I just can’t keep up with my friends when riding extremely gnarly trails. They own ktm 300’s. They’re bikes have such an electric linear style of power. I’d still rather have my yz as I like riding faster flowing trails and some moto. The yz is a blast to ride. They’re is just a huge difference in what the bikes are designed for. My yz feels much lighter and slimmer and is just more fun when ripping down a fire road or racing a sprint enduro.

Gas gas has that goofy problematic tpi system which also doesn’t give as good throttle response as a traditional carb. Carb > Tpi every time.

@@chadrides914 You guys obviously believe everything you hear on UA-cam. My bike has well over 50 horsepower and over a 120 hours on it and I can still see the cross hatching in the cylinder. I have never had one issue. It runs circles around the 2024 300 TE huskvarna, I know this because my friend just bought 2 of them. Go ahead keep thinking what you think. No I have a great bike and I only paid 6900 For it brand new off the show room floor. If you can't see the common sense in this there is no sense in arguing with you.
