This is so groovy that I have a deep groove in my second finger from practicing the uppity verse part!
Another easy to follow and fun instructional video. Keep up the good work! 😊
tee hee. pun accepted. Thank you AA :)
awesome tutorial as always 👍👍
I haven't been around for too long, but I've been just enough to notice there are no dislikes on your videos! I hope people keep it that way. Great job, Ryan!
Thanks a lot Jaime :) my most recent thumbs down was my girlfriend... Glad to have you here!
My favourite part? Intro! It is so simple.and easy to play. When i started playing that I was so exhilarated as I thought the whole.song would be like this... Now it is my second week.of practice this song and I am still far away from.the orginal.version (except for the intro part) nonetheless, i really love it! Thanks for tutorial! BTW, could you make a tutorial of Sonic Reducer and Know.Your Rights? I love.this classic punck rock songs!
SONIC REDUCER!!! I have a tortoise named Sonic. But he's only getting bigger. Thanks for the requests ABC, good luck with once! go slow.
This song is such an awesome jam! Always loved it! The lesson was spot on perfect as always my friend. Thanks so much!
you're most welcome! I really enjoyed doing this one. huge mysteries solved!
Brings back a great memory for me Ryan. I was lucky enough to be in Philly when the boys played Ten in its entirely. Been to hundreds of concert in my life but this one was very special. The emotion felt in Ed’s voice during Release. Unreal. Wish you were there with us.
i learned something joyous today, thank you.
I'm so happy to hear that mister 7 :)
Yes! My fav song from Ten!!!!
yesssssssss!
I learned how to play this off a Ten sheet music I bought at the music store. it had the intro as bring on the 1-3 fret and sort of, if I recall correctly, some sort of Dminor-Dsus2. It never sounded quite right and so I never learned more than that! Thanks for correcting it after all these years. Been bothering me since then why it never sounded right!
nice! You can get it done down there, but it lacks the open D string (or adds an open G string to the mix) so it's not quite right - verified by checking stone's hand postion in live vidoes.
Yeah it never sounded right and I was 14, fairly new to guitar, and didnt have great sense of pitch. If I could tell that sheet music was off then it was off in a big way. Thanks for correcting it for me!
I subscribed that little bridge at the end of the solo never seemed right in the Hal Leonard book. Your lesson made more sense, and simplified! Thanks!!!
welcome! And you're welcome!
Love all of your lessons, Could you do a one on "spin the black circle"
already on it my bud :)
ua-cam.com/video/dnEsgsgmvtg/v-deo.html AND
ua-cam.com/video/LPdMS4vvlyc/v-deo.html
the cadence of the intro between the two smashing chords is the best bit
i love it when this song explodes
i realize I'm pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released movies online?
@Devon Kairo i watch on flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Holden London Yup, been watching on FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Holden London thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it !
Ryan, Thank You for the videos. I always wanted to ask Stone how to play the verse on Once, to date I have never heard anyone play it right. Can you please do a video with Stone on this!?
Such an epic opening song for a record thats also a classical
and yet somehow forever relevant :)
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet thanks Ryan
:) my pleasure as always
And a happy Friday it is
TGI
Hey Ryan greetings from from Greece. Could you in the future try to do some parts at least of the solo from slip away from Mad season?
I'll give it the old college try - thanks Teo, and greetings back!
Awesome video! Can you please do a tutorial on Last Exit?
yessir connorsir :)
Ryan Lendt thank you!
I’m starting to really like my HSS Strat, never thought that would happen 😜
haha you must be watching me too much :P truth be told that's not my favorite guitar or my dream guitar, but it is solid, and i've had it for 23 years. it recently got a pickup upgrade... it just happens to be the one at the studio right now :)
Ryan Lendt what pickups do you use? I’ve got the new pro with the shawbucker and the v mods, little noisy on the singles
What is your dream guitar? In theory, HSS should be the ultimate in terms of tonal options and versatility (a humbucker adds more than a 3rd single coil) but I've always been on the fence with them.
gosh... I must admit I entrust all my gear decisions to my good friend Nic, who not only works on all my guitars, also fields my silly descriptors and figures out which pickups I should have... so I cannot tell you which ones he put in there, all I know is they're not fender or anything regular :P, and that I like the sound! They're not very 'strat-y' at all. a bit more modern, not too drivy but very loud. I'm sure that's really helpful... ha
well, i should specify that I don't have a single dream guitar, rather a dream 14 guitars, all of which are equal favorites :) definitely three of them are teles, one of which I already have... a 94 mexican one with fender noiseless pickups and an upgraded bridge. No strats make that list, apart from this one, but only because I've had it for so long - first guitar my mom got me when I was 12 :) definitely a mahogany martin D-1... definitely an american tele. Definitely a really cool Gretch and a les paul for sure, and a big hollow body gibson as well. You're absolutely right about the HSS strat tone-wise. A big reason this one is around so much :)
Although hard to play some of this on my acoustic... hmm, might need an electric soon
get on that now!!!!
Ryan what’s up ! How bout some Soundgarden ! Rusty cage ??
Awesome! It's on the list :)
Thanks for the shout out including spelling my name incorrectly (or is it correctly I forget? ; ) )
haha I get it right! You're welcome :)
since Ten out :)
yessir!
hey can u do a vid on how to play why go-pearl jam
yes definitely :)
Did you already do Squirrel Jam?
I'm pretty sure I did
Hi Ryan how are you? Mine doesn't sound at all like that. Just wondering if you wouldn't mind giving me the amp setting for this. I have a fender mustang v2 amp. thanks so much. I LOVE Stone Gossard. He's my number 1 rockstar
Hey Louise! I'm very well, how are you? :) Lovely to run into more stone-heads. I'm not familiar with the mustang - but I would say put the EQ's all right in the middle, put it on the drive channel, and strum away while turning up the gain ever so slightly until you find the amount of break up that you like :) it's so different amp to amp and guitar to guitar I can't tell you anything more specific than that I'm afraid... But perhaps I'll do a video on tone... hmmmmm... thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Ryan, I’m very well thanks. Thanks for your advice. Yea that would be a great video. Sorry I’ve 2 accounts. I’m logged in to this one on my phone. I just had to be difficult lol. It’s very hard to know what kind of effects or settings they are using. Well at least for me it is. Btw can we just take a moment to appreciate a Stone masterpiec? Of the girl! That song would make anyone wanna learn guitar
I've done a video on of the girl - did you find it?? I've put that video on the list!
Oh cool. I’ll have a look. Thanks. You’re the best!!
Hey Ryan. I can’t find anything on Pearl Jam yellow moon. Would love the acoustic rhythm and then solo tutorial. 🤔
oh boy :) it's on the list!
Ah yeah I second the Yellow Moon request
Yea ! That’s 2 for yellow moon
haha right on gents!
Do you take requests?
yessir
Whose better Mike or Stone?
STONE! for writing & creativity. Mike for shredding. You?
Ryan Lendt I think Mike seems to be the popular one, but it’s awesome to watch the live UA-cam videos of them at Pinkpop festival 1992, stone is the rocker. Mike is the blues man, and it works so good
But I have always been a les Paul played and rhythm guy
Do you take requests?
Stone takes rhythm to an all new level. He's hardly a rhythm player. More like a 'crazy other part nobody ever would have thought of' player :)
I think almost all of these videos are requests! What would you like to see?
You're the only one if seen that plays it correctly! The timing is so goofy,!
why thank you Chris! Well we've had a nice morning together :P
Man, maybe it's early for another XD request hahaha, by Confusion from Alice In Chains is a fucking song, sounds easy on the way, but a tutorial would be great!
it's never too early :) I just might not get to it immediately! Beginning in June/july I'm gonna up production to 7 per week in an attempt to catch up to THE LIST muahahaha
Can you play through the whole song so I can practice play the whole songs Not all of them just the good ones thanks so you have one video lesson second video play all the way through
just the good ones - got it :)
Is it me or is this the most complicated song off of Ten?
I'm afraid I can't answer that question yet as I haven't done them all ;)
Dude ...home shows....
i know i saw!! too bad we didn't go to the seattle women's march... BTW did you post something somewhere yesterday I had a major subscriber rush around 1:00!
oh....ps yes I did... a few different places :-) I am trying to get you to 2k by the end of the month....
I owe you so many beers. projections show we're going to miss by one day... but that's fun too because it means exactly 3 months from 1k to 2k :)
Ryan Lendt ahhh fingers are crossed... I planted some seeds last night
