Wild ass guess, but I would assume this could happen if someone changed an injector and did not code it properly, or if a little water got in the fuel and blew the tip off the number 2 injector so the computer is going nuts trying to compensate for the over injection that causes the smoke? I would love to hear a follow up from your buddy as to what actually happened and what the fix was. I know it's got to be driving you crazy Jimmy. I hate it when I can't spend the time to figure one out and have to leave it too.
Checking the stored codes match the injectors when things don't add up is a good idea for example I had a 1.5 connect past on to me to fit a used engine from a good running car that I tested and removed after fitting the engine and starting it was pluming out while smoke so I asked what happened before it came to me and it started with a DPF problem they ended up having someone delete the DPF they left them with it smoking and said that there's something wrong with the engine after knowing that I checked the stored codes and what the original injector codes where and they didn't match I put the codes in for the injectors on the engine I put in and it ran great I think the guy who did the delete just flashed it over from another car including the codes and I switched the engine for no reason
Another great video keep em coming, any chance of a follow up about this van once the garage has some answers
When your gut says no walk and be happy. You know it's going to go bad and don't need the stress 😇
Have one with the same issues here now. Van needs injectors. Has been through all the same rigmarole elsewhere.
Thanks for the advise, thanks a lots
No worries!
Excellent video. Does your friend’s garage do timing chain changes?
Yes they do
