I once forget the egg white in fridge for long i guess
Then when i remembered about it
I took it out from fridge but i was surprised when i saw the egg crystalized
Like when the rock salt it was perfect cube shape
It was color yellow
That’s neat!
u were supposed to put it in the fridge???
it really takes max:8 days lowest:3 days ( Have done this many times ) :)
We used boiling water.
@Marely Rodriguez yes for me i did it hot and that works much better
Mine always only ever take 24 hours
It took mine waaaaayyyyy longer
I love how you did this! I will be doing this for my next science project! I would like to do this but find out wat would make the crystals grow bigger things like salt, sugar Alum powder.
We’ve gotten big crystals from sugar before. Thanks for watching!
thanks! this would really help with my son's project.. love this video!

that's very Cool. .. so the Alum is aluminum sulphate?
Hi! Yes, Alum is short for aluminum sulfate. Thanks for stopping by Billy!
+Learn To Grow I meant Bill :)
Can I use non ferric allum for this?
I wonder if those would work with silicon molds
Does it need direct sunlight?
Got a project on this tomorrow and just started😩✌
Good luck!
This was great
Thank you!
at what hour does it start forming?
Edit: its been 5 hours and it looks like its not forming
In the video it says 15 hours so overnight.
Cute helpers.
Thanks!
@@LearnToGrow1 Cute mom!
This is great! can we wait more than 15 hours?
Sure, may be they'll grow bigger?
Using this as a science project with my 3 BFF's
Nice! Thanks for watching!
can we use baking soda or sugar instead of alum
You can use sugar, but it won't have the same affects and will take longer to form sugar crystals. Thanks for watching! :)
Hello! I am doing his project w my daughter right now for her science project at school. We followed your instructions exactly & our eggs didn’t come out crystallized.. we barely got any Crystal. Can you tell me what we could’ve done wrong?
Did you use alum? Make sure the alum is completely dissolved in the water or they just sink in the bottom before the eggshells are placed. Hope you try it again. Thanks for watching.
If I want to make bigger bowls, what else can I used in place of egg shells. Like can I make it on a aluminium foil shaped mold in the shape of a bigger bowl
That's a good idea . Did you try it? Thank you for watching.
Is it compulsory that alum powder should dissolve completely?????
SO COOL
Thank you!
Hi, great vid! I was wondering two things:
1) can I use those white pipecleaners to shape my geodes instead of the egg shells? And:
2) if I use my measuring cup for the Alum soloution, if I wash it out thoroughly, can I reuse the cup again for cooking? I'd to have to throw it out.
Thanks! Sorry I haven't been able to reply sooner. did you try it with pipe cleaners? I would make sure to wash the container thoroughly in soap and hot water. I try to use separate containers for science experiments though so I don't cross contaminate foods, just to be safe and please make sure to do your own research and be safe. Thanks for waching!
@@LearnToGrow1 thank you!
'@@jge8144 You're welcome! How did it go?
@@LearnToGrow1 I used borax instead, as well as the pipe cleaners aforementioned, and from other vids, reheated the mixture to get better results. And they turned out great!
@@jge8144 Great to hear that! It's always fun to experiment! :)
I want to try making this but without the eggshells. Does it need a base of eggshells to form?? Can I use other different things as the base?
Iv used other things other than egg shells
the alum powder you used was the one we are using for underarm?
No the deodorant is Potassium Alum. This one is Aluminum Sulfate. I use the crystal deodorant too, works well! Thanks for watching!
A REALLY GOOD PROJECT.......THANKS FOR UR HELP👍👍👍
I have tried this twice now, both times a bomb... I followed step by step... I purchased alum granulated power from medley hill farm sold on amazon... Help please
Steve Offenbacher Hi I placed a link on the description box below the video of the exact Alum powder I used . Hope it works next time. Thank you for stopping by!
Hello! I want to do this project with my students. Could I use your picture of the egg geodes on my website?
Hi Alice,
What is your website? Thanks.
Can I use some other material instead of eggshell? I need bigger "cups" of this. Can I use plastic or wood?
Yes you can use plastic, but if you wanted to take off the crystals, they will more likely to get stuck on the plastic. Thanks for watching!
Learn To Grow Thank you for the information! Altho I don't wanna take them off, I like this decoration as it is. :)))
You're welcome Jelena!
How long do they take in total? Please tell me asap because im doing this for a science fair project and I really want to be first place. I need to know so ill be prepared. please and thank you.
WageFap ! Hi! The crystals formed after 15 hours, results may vary , just give yourself extra time in case it may take longer. Thanks for watching!
What you can to do whis it crystal? This is strong?
Just for decoration, a conversation piece as it is fragile . Thank you for watching!
Dats cool 😎
can we use borax powder instead of alum to coat the eggs..? nd borax solution intead of the solution u used?
Sure! You can definitely make Borax crystals! Thanks for stopping by!
+Learn To Grow thnku😍
+Learn To Grow hi is it fine when you have the crystals in the water the alumni powder will come to the bottom.
Yes I believe Borax can be used to make crystals. I've never tried it, but seen good results. Make sure to add enough Borax to saturate the water. Thanks for watching!
You're welcome! :)
is it ok if i don't have the powder, but like, bigger pieces of it?
It will take longer to dissolve its best to ground them up to powder. Thanks for watching!
Nice
Thank you!
Hı can this be done with borax instead. İ dont think l will find alum... Where can l get that?
Can you use borax instead of alum??and where do you get alum in San Antonio??
Hi I got the Alum from Amazon it works better than Borax. The link to the Alum is in the description box of the video. Thank you.
This video was really good but 1 thing. I did 2 cups of water and 3/4 cup of salt but it didnt saturate... was it supposed to disolve completely or not?
Yes it needs to dissolve. Sorry for my late response! Thank you!
@@LearnToGrow1 thank you! And its fine
I'm doing this for a project, and when I glue the alum to the eggshell and add water, the alum keeps sliding down. The crystals only form at the bottom. How do I fix this?
Art Starlight Make sure to allow the glue and alum in the eggshells to dry overnight before submerging in water. Thanks for watching!
oh cool
Where to buy alum from ? Also thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
Daysha Ysrael Hi Daysha, I provided the link in the description box below the video where you can purchase Alum powder . Thank you for stopping by! 😊
Learn To Grow hey thanks for the link, unfortunately it’s not available outside the uk 😭 Is there anywhere else I can buy from instead please?
Is it okay to use baking powder or baking soda if I don't have alum powder?
Yes, but the crystals won’t turn out the same or the same size. Thanks for watching!
Is there anything else to use other than alum powder??
Hi you can try epsom salt.
Thsi is what I’m doing for science fair this year :))
Wonderful!
Make sure to wear gloves and mask just to be safe and have an adult help you. ☺️
@@LearnToGrow1 ok :))
What if I leave it for more than 15 hours?
Can you use crystal growing powder?
Hi what is it made from? You can also use sugar, but may not grow as big.
Can I use Fitkari instead of Potash Alum???
From India ❤
I didn't use Fitkari, so I don't know, but were you able to get more information on it? I used the one listed in the description of this video. Thanks for watching!
Hey can you use alum powder from Walmart
Yes, but I think it's cheaper to buy the bigger bag from Amazon. Here's a link: amzn.to/2BMT8Nr
Thanks for watching!
i am using this at science fair
Awesome! Keep me posted and thanks for watching! By the way the link to the alum I bought is in the description box of this video. I had good results with it. 😊
@@LearnToGrow1 which grades is this suitable for , I’m in 9th grade
@@aliyameen3931 probably any
You look like a fun mom! Thanks for the video.😊
Thank you so much!
can i use atlacoll or some other glue??
Sure as long as the alum powder sticks to the shells. Thanks for watching!
THIS WORKED FONAMALALY THANK YOU!
I’m doing this for a science fair:D
Awesome! Good luck and keep me posted! Thanks for watching!
Me too!! I am watching it and I’m doing it for science fair!!!!!
Can I use Cream of Tarter or Salt?
Rae Lynn cream of tartar will work. Salt does too, but the crystals won't get that big
Any substitute for alum powder???
What is alum powder??
Where can u get it??
Hi I got Alum powder from Amazon, direct link on the description box of the video. I've had best results with Alum powder, we've tried sugar, salt and baking soda. Thanks for watching!
U can use borax
Would epsom salt work?
I believe so, results vary with different ingredients. It does crystalize so it's worth a try. Thanks for watching!
Wait, is it okay to hold alum without protection? Isnt it hazardous to health?
Hi yes it can irritate the skin, eyes and respiratory, so be very careful...especially if you have sensitive skin. Good reminder to wear gloves and goggles.
Can salt work?
Hi Epsom salt can be substituted. Thanks for watching!
are they edible or just for decoration?
Hi , no they're just for decoration. Thanks for stopping by!
Alum is highly dangerous to consume, plus I don't think you'd want to eat eggshells.
WOWWWW This is soo cool!!! Btw, you're voice is soothing!!!
Can I use sugar instead of alum powder?
Thank you!
Yes you can, it forms crystals too.
@@LearnToGrow1 thanks 4 the in4, i gonna try it soon!
Do I still use 3/4 cup of sugar? Or another measurement of sugar for this project instead of using alum?
what is alum powder???
It’s aluminum powder
My classmate did that for her school science fair experiment😍❤️
that is cool😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Thank you for watching!
Where do I buy alum sulphate?
Hi Dana, Here's a link to alum powder that I used: amzn.to/2MMuZ0d
Thanks for watching!
can I use tartar instead of alum??
Yes you can! Thanks for watching!
I love all the great comments and made sure to look at them to see how others' were doing. Mainly because I'm doing this for my science fair project and nothing happened to my eggshells. I re-attempted it with more Alum, but still nothing has happened. I'm sorry, but it didn't quite work...
Sorry to hear that! Did you allow the Alum to dissolve completely? I put the link of the one I used in the description. Did you use that one?
Don’t give up, I hope your science fair project goes well! Make sure to wear gloves and safety goggles.
@@LearnToGrow1 Yes, I followed all your steps. I haven't tried the link yet, but thank you!
this is so cool I used it as my science project thanks so much
You're welcome and good luck! Thanks for watching!😊
Can we use borax instead of alum powder?
Hi yes, but the crystals may not look the the same or grow as big. Thanks for watching!
How long does it take to dissolve?
Hi if the water is warm it should dissolve in less than 10 minutes. Thanks for watching.
How long does it take before u actually see a crystal start to form Bc I’m doing this for my science fair and it’s not working pls help me 😫😫😫
Hi it should take 12 hours or more. Ours took 15 hours as noted in the video. Make sure to dissolve the alum in water completely. I listed the alum we used in this experiment in the description box of the video. Make sure to get the same one and have a parent help you. Good luck and keep me posted! 😀
Wear gloves just in case, it may cause skin irritation.
Can u use plastic egg shells?
I think the crystals need to bond with the calcium in the eggshells, so try to use real eggshells. Thanks for watching!
Can we use salt
Yes you can use epsom salt. Thanks for watching!
@@LearnToGrow1 welcome

Hi which alum powder did you use? I’ve heard that some don’t turn out. Was the solution saturated?
@@LearnToGrow1 it says "alum aluminum sulphate
@@LearnToGrow1 i used alum that is for gardening
Please tell me where in use geode. I have geode please
Did you make it?
You can put them in a terrarium.
Ok is this experiment a good example for a science fair idea
Sure, you can use salt, sugar, sea salt, borax or baking soda as the other variables. Thanks for watching!
Easier but long way: wait 1000 years and find it in the mines even though you are sleeping forever
tried it...didnt work? do you have to use distilled water?
No need for distilled water, but the alum needs to fully dissolve in the hot water . There shouldn't be any alum granules after you've stirred it in. Did you put enough alum?
