    1) can I use those white pipecleaners to shape my geodes instead of the egg shells? And:
    2) if I use my measuring cup for the Alum soloution, if I wash it out thoroughly, can I reuse the cup again for cooking? I'd to have to throw it out.

I try to use separate containers for science experiments though so I don't cross contaminate foods, just to be safe and please make sure to do your own research and be safe. Thanks for waching!

      Alum is highly dangerous to consume, plus I don't think you'd want to eat eggshells.

    I love all the great comments and made sure to look at them to see how others' were doing. Mainly because I'm doing this for my science fair project and nothing happened to my eggshells. I re-attempted it with more Alum, but still nothing has happened. I'm sorry, but it didn't quite work...

      Hi it should take 12 hours or more. Ours took 15 hours as noted in the video. Make sure to dissolve the alum in water completely. I listed the alum we used in this experiment in the description box of the video. Make sure to get the same one and have a parent help you. Good luck and keep me posted! 😀

    • @LearnToGrow1
      @LearnToGrow1  7 років тому

      No need for distilled water, but the alum needs to fully dissolve in the hot water . There shouldn't be any alum granules after you've stirred it in. Did you put enough alum?
