+Tatty_Eternal sometimes it just takes the right person to see the right material to make an awesome project! I've actually had a people say they've used my videos for projects in their school =D
Hi Ray, How durable are these crystals when finished? Would they be sturdy enough to incorporate into other art projects? Will they last over time or diminish from exposure to the air? Many thanks!
I've tried a couple of times to make the Geodes with Alum. Every time the crystals are not forming. DO you have a trick I'm missing? I've used your recipe - 2 cups hot water, 3/4 cup Alum. Thanks
Can I make these in heavy plastic cups...we caught a bunch of cups at the parade. ..im right outside new Orleans. ..the cups are about as thick as plastic measuring cups...or do I have to use glass
Alum is used a lot in fabric dyeing so that may be another avenue to find a source. Go to any craft store that sells fabric dyes or websites that specialise in it; they will usually sell alum.
Thank you! Going to try this with my son for his 1st grade science projected I'm glad you explained it's sedimentation I was trying to figure out what exactly the process is called!
It does, but it takes alot longer, and is alot harder to get the solution just right, but if you still want to, you should use the salt that needs to be grinded, otherwise they have a powder, that will make the crystals cloudy, called anti-caking powder.
+ironbot I'm not sure if changing the color half way would create a two tone crystal. If anything I suggest creating a new bath, then submerging an already grown shell into it. The colors might be subtle but I'm pretty sure the crystals will be pretty big.
+Jack Cleary you can probably do this with salt or borax but the crystals will probably turn out different. You might have to change up the ratio of water.
For what ever reason it won't work for me... I followed Step by Step, twice, both times a bomb, :( I used alum granulated powder food grade from medley hills farm... what could be the problem? weather? altitudes? any thoughts please share
I’ve got a plastic egg that can open into two separate parts ~ would this be safe to use for this?? I was also thinking of making a polymer clay egg half’s and wondered if it would be safe too??
This is an amazing video! could I ask if the crystals can grow on other materials like plaster? I'm trying to make an artwork that has a harder shell with crystal formations in its interior.
Nataly Napaea you can let the solution sit for a day to create small crystals on the bottom of beaker. Empty out into a new beaker. Use the crystals to create larger crystals by tying them onto string and hanging them with a pencil on new beaker with out touching the sides. How that helps. You could try gluing several together in the shape you like before growing.
Do these last at all? Does humidity or extra dry conditions effect them? And should we coat them with something if we want to keep them out where people (read kids) will want to pick them up and handle them? Thanks for any answers!!!
+Hemant Thanki Thank you for watching!! I made something close to a sensory bottle a while back. I know there are different types of sensory bottles. I hope this project helps!! ua-cam.com/video/8E93GGeOZEg/v-deo.html
Can i use a rock instead of an egg shell? And are the measurements important? Can i just eye ball it? Can't believe crystals can be made haha its so cool. Subscribed :) x
I wish schools would just use fun crafts like this ^_^
+Tatty_Eternal sometimes it just takes the right person to see the right material to make an awesome project! I've actually had a people say they've used my videos for projects in their school =D
+Get Crafty Crafty I guess it's time for me to go move schools now 😂
Tatty_Eternal were doing this in my school tomorrow
Get Crafty Crafty in my school we doing this it looks cool and fun
My science teacher let us do this
This project looks like something I want to try. Can you re-use the colored water to make more??
How did you get the crystals so big
Hi Ray, How durable are these crystals when finished? Would they be sturdy enough to incorporate into other art projects? Will they last over time or diminish from exposure to the air? Many thanks!
i like his accent and the way he speaks
ik me too
I was waiting for him to tell us where the emergency exits are and to observe the seat belt sign.
Science and craft!!! Check out this weekends #DIY project!! Eggshell #geode
You sound so sad.. XD
+Angel25XX or its just his deep voice
ok
+Slyninja Playz +Angel25XX haha pretty much. #DeepVoiceProblems
my friends and I did a challenge by eating it
You really can be the perfect babysitter! You are so articulate and so soft spoken . You're such a sweet looking kid !
I've tried a couple of times to make the Geodes with Alum. Every time the crystals are not forming. DO you have a trick I'm missing? I've used your recipe - 2 cups hot water, 3/4 cup Alum.
Thanks
Can you, once done, use the same one and start the process over to make it larger and larger?
They are beautiful. Nice teaching! Thank you for sharing!
Can a geode grown like this be used in resin? And can it be broken up? Thanks!
+Get crafty crafty could I use Epsom salt or table salt instead of Alum powder?
does it works also with Borax powder rather than Alum ?
Can I make these in heavy plastic cups...we caught a bunch of cups at the parade. ..im right outside new Orleans. ..the cups are about as thick as plastic measuring cups...or do I have to use glass
This video is so calming
+This is SPARTA! what?! I was able to calm don SPARTA?! I'm feeling pretty accomplished haha

0:43. You altered something that was at Yellow Stone?
is there a substitute for alum powder, +Get Crafty Crafty
Please answer me.. when you put the egg shell in in beaker .. was the water cold?
Do you think this would work with plastic eggs?
I have some alum powder but it's like 5 months old, would it still work?
+Skg2014Gamer the age of the alum power shouldnt matter as long as it's been kept in a clean place.
Thank you! Going to try this with my son for his 1st grade science projected I'm glad you explained it's sedimentation I was trying to figure out what exactly the process is called!
Will the crystal dissolve in water?
Think about making a black one and putting purple and blue glitter on it *-*
"Galaxy edition"
+Giuliano hahaha #GalaxyEverything
+Get Crafty Crafty #HellYeah
Looks fun for both adults and children.
would it work with sea shells?
It's permanent form when crystal forms, or it can dissolve if i put it in water? Because i wonder if i can make jewelry of it.
I just wanted to ask: DOES THIS WORK WITH SALT?
It does, but it takes alot longer, and is alot harder to get the solution just right, but if you still want to, you should use the salt that needs to be grinded, otherwise they have a powder, that will make the crystals cloudy, called anti-caking powder.
how long do the crystals last? do they need to be coated with anything to protect them from possibly falling apart is that even a concern?
Do they become waterproof after they are ready
dont eat them because we dont know what might happen ...i love this dude...
and very nice work ..bravo.
i think ill meet you ...at the right time.
semsem sweet too much “…”
"Naturally formed rock found in nature" lol
Can i use stone instead of egg shell?
I’m thinking of making a craft pumpkin geode. Can you help with suggestions on how I could create that?
Isn't alum powder baby powder?
if we dont have alum powder what can we use instead
How many egg shells at a time can i place inside of the glass container, or is it only one eggshell at a time?
I think he said at least 1
can u switch the coler bath half way through and have a 2 tone?
+ironbot I'm not sure if changing the color half way would create a two tone crystal. If anything I suggest creating a new bath, then submerging an already grown shell into it. The colors might be subtle but I'm pretty sure the crystals will be pretty big.
I have a question is it possible that I can make it with sea salt or Epsom salt?
What pretty geodes!
+Ryuzaki L thank you!! ✌🏾
+Get Crafty Crafty can the alum powder be substituted for something else for example borax
+Jack Cleary you can probably do this with salt or borax but the crystals will probably turn out different. You might have to change up the ratio of water.
Oh ok thanks
Enjoyed your video. I didn't know Alum could be used to form crystals.
Can i use something other than egg shells as a base?
For what ever reason it won't work for me... I followed Step by Step, twice, both times a bomb, :( I used alum granulated powder food grade from medley hills farm... what could be the problem? weather? altitudes? any thoughts please share
can you use borax in sted of alum
I can't wait to do this myself! I really like this idea with Alum power and an egg shell better. Glad I came across your video! :)
I’ve got a plastic egg that can open into two separate parts ~ would this be safe to use for this?? I was also thinking of making a polymer clay egg half’s and wondered if it would be safe too??
Will this work using Borax?
Can we use salt?
Great Idea!!! Thank you so much for your video... Question: can you use Borax or just plain Sugar to do the same thing?
This is an amazing video! could I ask if the crystals can grow on other materials like plaster? I'm trying to make an artwork that has a harder shell with crystal formations in its interior.
Is it still as fragile as an eggshell or is it stronger/not easily broken?
Can you use other objects
Tysm for this! I will be doing this for my school's stem fair project :)
Using the same water, can you make multiple egg geodes?
Could I use sea shells instead of eggs
Is this something you can keep long term or do the ingredients go bad after a while like the egg or the powder
laura mcintyre as long as you wash the shell before using there is nothing to go bad, wouldn't suggest eating anything either alum is not edible.
Is it possible to remove the eggshell from the crystal after? To get just the pure crystal because i want to glue the crystal to make a drawer pull :D
Nataly Napaea you can let the solution sit for a day to create small crystals on the bottom of beaker. Empty out into a new beaker. Use the crystals to create larger crystals by tying them onto string and hanging them with a pencil on new beaker with out touching the sides. How that helps. Blows my mind, have no idea why I like this so much o.0
How long do dey last these crystals
does this work on plastic?
Why doesn't the alum adhere to the bottom of the egg, instead of just the glue painted inside?
without using alum can't we make this
Do these last at all? Does humidity or extra dry conditions effect them? And should we coat them with something if we want to keep them out where people (read kids) will want to pick them up and handle them? Thanks for any answers!!!
where do l buy the powder at l an in Canada
Hello. I did mine and most of the crystals formed in the bottom of the glass and not the pipe cleaners? I did use the sparkly pipe cleaners ???? Help👎
Hello! The kids of my class wanted to make Crystals. I have 14 kids in my class how much of the alum powder do i need?
What is that white powder?
My egg geodes is not working because when I put the eggshell in the solution the alum powder and the glue started withering.
Can you do this with out alum powder
You can use borax instead. You czn buy some at Target or Walmart.
The science project is done but thanks.
Can I use Elmer's Glue All for this project?
Your cool I enjoy your videos and your chalk drawings
+Drolma Geyer awesome!! Thank you for watching!!
My eggs are getting stuck in the solution and I cant get them to release, I'm using borax though. Help!
Im making a salt crystal with cooking salt i hope it works
Cool!😃. Can you make pop rocks candy?
WoW I loved this videothanks for sharing 👏🏻👏🏻👍👌
wait does it have to be on a egg shell
Where can I buy alumn powder?
can we use borax?
I ust happen to fun across your channel, thanks for sharing this!
What a fun video! And simple, thank you, Pam
Are they real crystals
Wow. You taught me something today...
R they easily breakable?
Can u try sensory bottles pls try. and I love your videos
+Hemant Thanki Thank you for watching!! I made something close to a sensory bottle a while back. I know there are different types of sensory bottles. I hope this project helps!! ua-cam.com/video/8E93GGeOZEg/v-deo.html
Does it have to be 30 drops?
We used 3 different salts for the experiment and nothing but the sides of the egg formed
These are great. But can you make things that people actually can make
Can you use borax instead of alum powder?
yes you can
Can i use a rock instead of an egg shell? And are the measurements important? Can i just eye ball it? Can't believe crystals can be made haha its so cool. Subscribed :) x
Yoooooooo I literally LOL when you said "soo pretty" hahahah
Followed the instructions carefully, two different containers, nothing after 2 days apart from the eggshell being coloured.
I freaking love your channel. Thanks for taking your time to share this. Subbed ♥
I did this but crystals never formed..
can i use borax?
Cool project
Tried making crystals with a chemistry kit I bought... I sat on them accidentally like two days after I made them...
You sat on it lol .XD how did you sit on it?! 😂😂😂😂😂
Lilylovesunicorns123 mindless
Lol,did it hurt when you sat on it?
Lilylovesunicorns123 No it was in a little container and it just... oh it's too painful to talk about...
lol XD I know what you mean
Excellent video.
another awesome video dude! gonna try and make these also
+Kireji Art Creations awesome!! Let me know how it goes!!
ok bro! :)
Love this one. Going to try it.
+Mama Hare awesome!! Let me know how it turns out!!
you can make it with borax
I wish you had used brown eggshells so we could see it easier.
