Potentially getting an RB30 with a built bottom end and a built RB26 head myself to swap out my RB25DE for. If you could make a video on what changes to make for wiring harnesses and hoses to fit the RB30 and how to do it step by step, you will be a legend. I cannot for the life of me find any video that shows it.
When referencing the piston and rod weights, you mention having the heaviest piston with the lightest rod and vice versa to have even weights across as closely as possible. Would where the weight rests be a factor when considering the movements of the weight? Meaning the piston being on the outer limits and the rod being closer in. Or is it that since it’s not like a wheel and more of an actuation that the placement of weight is not important? As im writing this, I’m thinking it’s more of a combination of the two but as close to cloning the weights the better yeah? TIA!
I hope I’ve interpreted this correctly, if you mean by “where the weight rests” as in one end of the manufactured item being heavier than the other, there’s not too much you can do about that, you can take small amounts of material away from very particular places on a rod or piston assembly to lighten it and match weights better, something I didn’t do was measure the big and little end weights of the rod (this being very far out of the rod manufacturer spec would possibly cause excess vibration) however considering that Nitto manufacture incredibly high quality parts I trust that they’re in spec and have used these rods before with 0 issues (I also do not possess the tooling to measure big and little end weights just yet). As for the pistons I am not aware of a process like this for so have only ever taken into account the overall weight of the item as I believe most engine assemblers do….. @@Racelab_video naw you’re good, thanks for responding. Later I thought about how if you lifted a golf club up and down, from either end, would the forces generated be different. Because it’s on the crank, it’s nearly identical, just the rotational portion of the rod and crank had an additional axis. I wasn’t sure how much that could play a factor with overall vibrations if they were mismatched, or if it was worth the time and effort to keep them as close as possible.
@@Master_Psyper A lot people don’t go this far and some would say it’s un-necessary to do what I have, I know plenty of engines and engine builders who have just assembled an engine without worrying about weights at all and it has worked perfectly fine (including myself on a very budget build I did years ago) so long as quality enough parts are used and you’re not expecting to rev the engine excessively high it’s usually fine) I just like going above and beyond “what’s necessary” for the fun of it

It seemed like most reputable companies send pistons and rods most closely matching anyway so it definitely seems like overkill with what it itching my brain🤣thanks again!
