Yes sir, I certainly realize that we can't all get the best parts but sometimes even OEM parts are better than cheap aftermarket parts. Patience is key, and it's not very easy. I am a 40yr old guy and it took me quite some time to get a handle on the whole patience thing.

#6 call or email an Australian this is an excellent an informative video however the competition in the RB Australian scene has resulted in high HP reliability and they will ship worldwide with a very attractive US dollar conversion, it’s worth the risk as these Aussie builders only survive by reputation
One of the most important things when it comes to gaps is RING gap. Get that wrong and it's a fresh rebuild. More boost bigger the gap. The best advice is do your research from reputable builders
For 6-800whp, you will most definitely need to build the block. Most of the RB25 and RB26 internals can handle upwards of 550-600whp if Ethanol is used however you are really pushing the envelope. Oiling is also a major issue on the RB's since Nissan's crank snout design to drive the oil pump is not up to the task for increased/extended RPMs and limited bashing.

With factory CAS and ECU, RB20 and 25 run 15 BTDC and RB26 run 20BTDC. When using a aftermarket standalone ecu, I normally choose 0 or 10 BTDC to lock/sync it with the standalone. 10 BTDC will obviously idle better with timing locked but you can do 0 as well. Sometimes 0 is easier to identify on the Damper. You can of course set timing without the engine running. Just remove your plugs, disable injectors and get a battery pack hooked up to the car and crank it to set timing. Good luck mate!
Solid info and common sense. I've seen so many "send it videos". I remember my friend in Japan shared a video of guys revving until the engine exploded and he said why waste a good engine? But I won't be doing wasteful things with my builds.
I've been doing my r33 rb25 build for 3.5 years. So from personal experience I can agree with this video. In relation to his points. 1. So recommend this. As alot of you will start with a standard rebuild amd a few mods. But you will always have someone that says. "While you have the engine out and apart you might aswell do this or this. So like me a standard rebuild with about 800$ of machining and nee rings and bearing and end up with spending 5500$ in machining of the block and crank and crank collar ect. And in excess of 4k in rods pistons rings bearings. Cams ect. A 3 month rebuild turns into a 3.5yr project car.
these things apply to all engine building in general and not just rb’s. was hoping for more rb specific information during the build to see if theres things i might learn more about. anything you wanna share thats more specific other than “make sure you have bearing clearance” (just an example). for instance on my evo it likes to have larger than recommended piston to wall clearance and larger ring gaps than what manufacturers advise. appreciate what you do - keep up the solid content.
Great information. However, you can tell people till you are blue in the face, they only watch this after they screw something up. Then complain about the car/engine.
Totally understand this and most people only learn these things from first hand experience and learning from their own mistakes. However I hope that this will help some, if only a few.
hello sir my rb25 need a rebuild it's forged and it had near 600 hp the labor cost is around 4k euros should i do it in my garage with my friends or should i send it to a builder ? i'm in france, i'm broke, i don't think i can find someone who knows how to build RB, if they build 2J is it okay ? do i have to find the best builder of that mean spending 5k and not 4k ?
Do you know what's wrong with it? Could be a relatively simple fix or could be very complex. If your friends have built a 2J they will probably be able to help you out for sure as the 2 are similar. Ultimately you got to do what makes sense for you and what you can afford to do.
@@NoZilla there is a hole in the block there was a white fat thing leaking from it i have took the distribution out of the car to find where the leak came from before the problem my car was working normaly and i stoped working 2 or 5 minutes after i have started it it would not start again the garagist managed to start it but it was running too rich and kept stalling without gas maybe they made the hole themself... my friends don't have sports cars but i know an engine builder who build mk4 supra and R35 i can send pictures of the holes and the thing that was leaking if you want (on facebook)
