I have a 1963 444 it was my Dad's as far as we know he got the last variable speed sheave out of North Dakota 6-8 years ago. My BC runs a 16 HP Onan motor & has maybe 50 hrs on a complete rebuild. My Dad's best advice when he gave my the BC was keep the adjustable drive sheave well greased. Since I've had the BC it stripped out the rubber coupling for the hydraulic pump. I purchased 2 of the drive fittings & rubber spiders that go in-between. I had one fitting machined & fitted to replace one side & the other side fit as original one. One caution in all instances especially in hard to access areas is blue loctite . What caused the break down was a allen screw backing out. I loctited & double allen screwed it one allen screw on to of the other. I have 2 buckets a set of forks & a backhoe & a un-sprung trailer with ramps.
+MrBartoriginal Sounds like you've got a nice little rig. You really need to use a MoreFlex coupler on the hydraulic pump if you are not already. Do you have some videos to share?
Glenn my variable dive is leaking and won’t close against the belt . I want to eliminate it and bolt the to halves together is will this work and is this what you did to yours?
Replacing a belt as we speak. This video helped out alot it at least have me an idea. Only difference is mine is on the front under the seat. We gave a bobcat case 1737
Hey man can you help me out by any chance I'm trying to follow these steps on to eliminate the variable speed I'm trying to have it in between on low and high speed
I apologize for not answering the question about where I got the sheave. I have been missing a lot of the comments from these videos. The sheave I used was an old secondary clutch from a snowmobile. I got it from a snowmobile junkyard online real cheap. Dismantled it and bolted it back together. I hear Dodge makes industrial pulleys that are adjustable with the same bore. If I were to do it again I would probably go in that direction.
Hi Glenn I'm in the middle of my repower. Any idea where you might find these industrial pulleys that you're speaking of? I've done some googling and haven't had much success yet
Hello , my name is Dave and I need some minor wiring work done on my S250 which is in pretty good condition and I believe I’ve done all the troubleshooting and have the problem figured out, but now I need someone to confirm that I’m going in the right direction and possibly help me with the wire repairs as well because wiring is not my strong suit. The wires in question are enabling my brake solenoid to lock up on me every 20-30 minutes of run time and stooping me dead were it happens. You can hear the magnet snap up into the hold position and I believe the damaged wires are also draining my volts & dropping them down in between uses. I also live in Massachuttes about 20 minutes south of Boston in Weymouth right off the highway. I will pay you well for your time & cash money too. I am a bit reluctant to sent it out to Bobcat again because they charge you $3000.°° or more just to look at your Machine & I’ve already been let down recently and would prefer to have someone like yourself work with me, I really can’t see it taking more than a few hours but as I mentioned I really want confirmation that I’m doing the repairs correctly & getting the job done properly too. I don’t have any problem with cash & if it does only take a few hours I’ll pay you for the day regardless but I have a trust issues mainly because I’m to trusting myself. If you wouldn’t mind giving me a call at (781)985-0428, & ask for Dave I will make it worth your time. I drew up a schematic on a piece of large art paper that I draw my designs with for my landscape designs & hardscape projects that I’ve been doing for 25+ years now so it should be pretty easy to understand and I have the service Manuals as well along with a large tool selection. Hope to hear from you & thank you. Dave B.
Glenn i have a 444 and i'm changing the belt and its not a split shaft. What do i have to do to get the shaft to slide to one side to get the new belt on?any help would be much appreciated.
Can you please tell me where you got that sheave or a part number maybe. Im thinking about using a 22hp harbor freight motor in my bobcat 610 and if i had a sheave like that with a 1'' bore and keyway than i could make it work.
Hardknock Hooligans I do not know what type of sled the sheave came off of. I just called a snowmobile junk yard online and asked for an old steel secondary sheave that was bolted together. It must come off an engine with a shaft size and keyway the same size as the engine you are using. Most commonly this is 1 inch with a .25 keyway. I then ground off the bolts and split it in two, leaving just two halves. Keep in mind one of the halves had a center bore that slipped right over the shaft of the vanguard shaft ( 1 inch with a .25 keyway.) I did have to cut the center bore down to size; it slid right over the shaft and I bolted to the shaft (with the 3/8-24 center bolt.) I had had my buddy fabricate the spacers so that the 3 bolts holding it together were a bit larger than the bolts themselves. I would pull it all apart and make another video but I sold the machine some time back. I got the idea from pharmer phil search him by "bobcat repower" on UA-cam I hope this helps.

I used your ratchet strap method for drive belt replacement. Thanks for the good idea!
Awesome!
What is the name of the website you found the jackshaft bearings?

Excellent! I have an omc mustang and don't know where to buy this belt. They are close to identical. Mine was made during he 70's.
hey Glenn could you tell me what kind of sheave you used on your bobcat, im trying to repower mine . it would be great help, thanks

Remove the side covers, loosen the collars/sprockets on the jackshaft the tap the jackshaft through.
@@livetoridemyxlhJust loosen or do i take the sprocket off and the collar behind it. i don't see how it can slide it far enough to get the belt on .
the shaft has to come out of the side enough to get the new belt on and the collars and sprocket are attached to the shaft.
Where did you get the new seals?

storminnormanz. did you ever do this? if so how's it operate in comparison to the Wisconsin engine? considering doing this
Any links on the engine. I just picked one up.. anyway better to message?

According to my Dad he got the last new variable speed drive for a 444 out of N. Dakota. The most important thing is to grease it often.
Grease a rubber belt? Are you fucking insane?
@@rodbuilder3657 I think he meant the active sheave there’s a grease nipple
where did you get that sheave? ive been looking and cant find one like you have
storminnormanz hey did he tell you where he got the sheave
nope, i still need one
+Gerald Hall did you ever find a sheave?
Cool vid showing the old variable drive system. I have similar on my omc 1200

I need a variable speed drive anyone knows someone that rebuilds or has parts for them.. 1974 610.
slick!
Sorry I forgot I had replied to this 4 months ago.
Here is farmerphils video. He changed his name to Iron Acres. This video helped me quite a bit. ua-cam.com/video/C3RVIyybK_k/v-deo.html
