A few more tips - you can use your anti-personnel and anti-vehicle turrets as footstools to get into areas that were unreachable for you before. The anti-vehicle turret is crazy effective - you can one-shot most infantry with a direct hit, deal massive damage to enemy aircraft (yes, if you master leading the rocket, you can take down aircraft at close and medium range). You can also deal crazy high damage to enemy MAX units, and if you're good enough, you can make the rocket "hop" over obstacles or cover to get that pesky infantry or hiding Sunderer. When your repair gun is near overheating while repairing a MAX, drop an ammo pack - the animation takes enough time for the repair gun to cool down, and you'll provide ammo to the MAX in the process. Also, you can repair a Harasser by sitting in it's back seat and positioning your camera in the right way. Who knows, maybe that also works on the Valkyries, but I'll leave that for the others to check. I'm not afraid of heights. Or gravity. I'm actually afraid of grounds. No, not heights, I know what I've meant! It's the grounds that kill you! D:< Anyway, back to the main topic. The anti-personnel turret provides a good cover against small arms fire. The anti-vehicle provides much less cover. But, if you're not using them and just duck behind them, you're much safer - also worth noting is that snipers love mana-turret users. They're easy targets - with the anti-personnel turret, if you know where the sniper is, at least you can position your turret in a way that will protect you from his shots. The anti-vehicle turret takes a long time to reload, but can be used for close-quarters encounters - you can surprise enemy infantry (because who's stupid enough to bring an anti-vehicle turret to a gun fight? The answer is - me! :D) - if they're not coming all at once, you can just pick them off one by one. Unless you miss - then you need to quickly dismount from the turret to still have a chance of surviving :P There's also a pretty neat trick I found - if you shoot with your anti-vehicle turret, instead of waiting for it to fully cool down when you're under fire and want to make another shot, dismount it for a second or two and duck behind it, then mount it again - the cooldown will still tick down if you're not manning the turret, meaning you don't have to be a sitting duck. If you're brave enough (or crazy like me), you can practically 1v1 enemy vehicles with the anti-vehicle turret if you're good at running around, plopping down the turret, making a single shot, then running into a different place, plopping it down again and taking another shot. The cool down for placing your turrets is crazy short. Also, if your target is right in front of you, you don't even need to lead the rocket - point at where your target is, shoot the rocket and dismount - the rocket will still fly directly where you pointed it at, so if the enemy isn't moving too much, then they're out of luck :P What's also pretty cool is that you can use your turret as a foot stool to get into a higher place, like I've mentioned before, plop down your turret there, and if you'll fall, you don't need to try to get back in there - if it's not too high and you see the turret, just jump, press the use key and you'll mount it again, using the magic of quantum screw-logic :D It's pretty handy when you place your turret on a wall - and what's pretty cool too is, you don't need to worry about being able to stand somewhere - if there's a piece of flat surface somewhere, you can place your turret there (as long as the projection is green). So, if you have a thin wall (for example in the BioLabs), you put down the turret on a wall at an angle (because you need to be able to stand on a solid ground to put down your turret) - the turret may not be facing the way you want to shoot, but you can get enough angle with it that it won't really matter - I don't know how it looks from third person view, but just imagine that you're either bending your body really hard while trying to stay on the edge of the wall and still shoot at stuff, or you're walking on air because invaders must die and you don't have the time to think about gravity. The anti-vehicle turret is also great for taking down enemy base defense systems and terminals. You no longer need to shoot things or waste your explosives at them. Enemy infiltrator took over something in your base? A few rockets, quick repair and sorry friendly infiltrator, you're too late you lazy bastard and I had to do everything as per usual, and I'm not switching to infiltrator, I'm a goddamn engineer! I worked on my degree really hard, go be sneaky somewhere else! D:< Okay, again, back to the topic. Or maybe not. **CAN'T YOU SEE I'M USING A TERMINAL HERE?! WHAT DO YOU WANT?!** Oh, okay. I'll be going then. They need me at the front line. As always. But I'm not complaining. Gotta repair ALL the things! Gotta resupply EVERYONE! Technology to the rescue! I, I mean me. Not technology. Me to the rescue. Wohoo... I wish those lady MAXes wouldn't run away from me so much... I just want to hug-I mean, I just want to fix them. And give them lots and lots of hugs-GODDAMNIT ammo packs, for heaven's sake! What's wrong with me today! I give them all the love and attention they need, and they either go into heavy fire to exploit me because they know I'll follow them into the depths of hell or sprint away from me once the action's over D:< Domo arigato mister Roboto... When I'm a MAX, nobody gives a damn about me ;_; And why do all those medics ignore dead MAXes and look at me like an idiot? I can't bring them back from the dead, there's a goddamn person inside there! Why can't I just kill that damn medic and take their gun to heal, revive and repair and ressuply everyone and everything?! I just want to be needed ;_; But instead I have to duck behind reckless MAXes and hope I'll stay alive and don't let them die D: It's so stressful, you know! Run into cover at least for a second! This damn thing is overheating already! You will die! D:< I could probably take the scrap from dead MAXes and make a giant robot army instead, but there's blood and fleshy bits all over it, it's just so icky! Eww! I don't even want to think about it. **YES I'M GOING GIVE ME A MOMENT!** Jesus, why everyone around here is so mean. It's not like this facility is taken over or something... **I'M NOT IN A RESTRICTED AREA, SHUDDUP NC LADY A.I. THING WHY ARE YOU WORKING FOR THE ENEMY SHOULDN'T THE RESPECTIVE ENEMY A.I. TRY TO KICK ME OUT OR SOMETHING?! OW! OWW! HEY, STOP IT! It hurts! I'm gonna die ;_; Pls, stahp. Plss. Quickly, where's the "post comment" button! No no no the spandex people are here!** So... if you're reading this, I'm dead. My corpse is located on Cobalt's Indar continent, at the Secure Data Lab, near the terminal number 3. I'm not moving anywhere, unless the spandex people do something to me. Medic, bring a Lazarus device with yo---
LordDragox412 yes, repping in valkyries does work, although like the harrasser when you are in the seat the repair time is significantly longer than normal, so it is just easier to just get out and repair unless you are getting chased by enemies and are heavily damaged.
camycamera Yep, that's what I love to do :P The majestical power of nanites, and suddenly a ram van becomes a reality! :D What those poor roadkills don't know is that engineer's turret is awesome at stopping harrasers from running you over. I wonder if there's still this funny bug where if you spawn a turret inside someone it will kill them instantly (because nanite magic). Similar things went on with harrasers from what I remember, where it would either instantly destroy them, launch them a bit into the air or just damage them a good bit. They really like leaving some bugs in the game xD I found a bug in alpha that I've reported many times through the alpha, beta and release versions, and it didn't get fixed. I'm talking about a "make camera fly into the sky!" bug - basically, you can make your camera bounce up and down, making it clip through the ground and get launched into the air back and forth, getting lower and higher with each bounce. You can do it by crouching certain way - you simply press crouch, and before you fully crouch you release the button. Then, before you fully stand, press the button again. Repeat it over and over, and with good timing you'll have plenty of fun :D I've discovered it while trying to rapidly crouch and uncrouch in the alpha to act all derpy, but instead the game derped, not me. But at least the long crouching animation prevents people from teabagging each other, so at least there's that, I guess. And I still manage to sometimes launch my drop pod into the sky or bounce in a random direction and spin when I'll hit a tree with it. My two records were two minutes spent in the air, waiting for the pod to drop down after getting launched off the height scale and getting sent two areas further than I intended to. Once I've spent almost 15 minutes sitting on a very high tree's branch with a Vanu sniper, and we were casually talking about stuff, making jokes and killing TR below. Good times. But then I fell while trying to walk on a thin branch that had no collision and i phased through it D:
LordDragox412 i don't think that spawning a turret on someone and killing them is a bug, its a feature. similarly how you get killed if someone spawns a vehicle from a vehicle terminal and you are standing on the vehicle pad.
Done w basic training, these vids were helpful thanks. The tutorial in game was very basic I feel like I needed a more advanced one. Concerning a lot of the Meta gameplay too
Now that Max units can trigger tank mines, I no longer consider them situational, as there are always enemy max units. Setting up 1 just inside the door (but out of sight) of the entrances of a control point/generator room helps when an enemy Max comes rushing in to try and wrestle control away from you. I run the regen 1 implant and find that sufficient for a support class.
Thanks for this and the cert video for Engineers. I am fairly new to PS2 and after a very brief stint with the Light Assault class I am pretty much full time engineer now. Great to know about disabling mines, I had not seen that before.
You should almost never let your repair tool completely overheat. Unless you have a sunderer or infantry terminal nearby. Use your repair tool as needed until it nears the top of the gauge. Stop repairing and you'll find that the cool off time is a quicker than if you started from full, and you can commence repair in the middle of the cool off period if necessary.

I wouldn't recommend placing ammo packs TOO far apart, though- if you're standing within range of multiple packs, you'll resupply off of all of them, which can replenish an empty ammo reserve right quick.
Question Wrel: when is the PS4 beta coming to ps4 in Europe, my pc kindoff crashed and I can't play higher than 10 fps anymore? I can't wait to play this game again it was so fun :)
I'm here because today I played as engineer....repaired a single anti vehicle turret and got around 150+ kills sitting in it for 15 minutes and I near shat meself
I didn't know that you could defuse tank mines with the repair tool, thanks for that Wrel! Also is it better to have the engineer equipped with a shotgun than a carbine?

Main critics about the game that it is semi-futuristic. In one hane You have levitating tanks, in other - simple shotgons, pistols, propulsions... somwhere in very start it is made by wrong concept. If You want to shoot bulets, place explosives, You can play Battlefield. There must be more futuristic features - no bulets, no hotgas propulsion, no tanks on chains and BMPies, cycles on wheels. C'mon. Another thing: make, please, real free look trackfree(headtracking) support and without rotating haircross with view. Thanks!
+Jānis Grīnvalds Then how do you expect the tanks to move? Shoot guns? Have fast transport? Making all of them have maglev abilites or lasers would make the VS have no unique features.
8 років тому
+enzo oh this simply not giving impression of futuristic warfare. It's WW2 with shields and spawns. Visual and military concept is too yesterday. Tanks also look vintage, even if motion parts could stay as they are. what and how we are shoting? - Modern is magnetic rail gun, laser, maybe something plasmatic or hot gas vortex, lighning balls, etc. bmpies are so high and unstable proportionaly... some giroscopic solutions could be tried as vehicles on 1 or 2 wheels. ESFs are absolutely slow in flight mode... they should be at least as fast as planes of WW2(2x faster) and fly above 700m they are so easy targets, therefore as concept ridiculous
With the vehicle stuff, that could work. With the guns, I still would say the VS would still have no special weapons since the lancer shoots (What it looks like) charged plasma. Plus, this a game, the Developers can be as crazy as they want unless they are making a Simulator.
8 років тому
+enzo oh game - not simulator...it's not argument. Another thing: realism and logic. If tank, dalton, etc. can destroy esf into peaces..in fact always esf explodes. Why bodies of infantry always are in one peace when hit with heavy weapon? Couldn't they make such damages unrevivable? That would add factor to a game...destroy bodies in order to make them not healable...with c4 or granade for example. It's not about being simulator, but putting logic. If game is about people running and sooting, then please place adequate images of destruction. It can be even arcade where proper phisics and destruction are provided.
Then everyone would just be sniping, or blowing eachother up rather then normal gunfire. And, if both of your arms are shot off, what do you expect to do? Sit there and wait to be killed?
It's time to call it quits. Start a phased shut down of server or make dedicated servers a possibility. Given how this game had many issues that haven't been fixed and many of original support team quit. It's time to let PS2 die. Hire a new dev team and start work on PS3. Give daybreak a chance to start from scratch. Give how I was promised the goliath super heavy a year ago, it's time to start over.

Nah, it's actually one of my shorter ones. If the topic is good, I can easily go over 400 lines of text :P
I've played the game over 800 hours and I didn't know that I can place 2 ammo packs at max rank.... Wow thanks Wrel.^^
Ancaneon Newb
Ancaneon took me 4500 hours to figure out that i can cert the AI Turret...
Been playing this game for a while, and Wrel's still teaching me things I didn't know. 2 ammo packs at once, huh?
never thought about actually reading the patch notes in the while you've been playing ?
Catnium more like doesn't bother maxing ammo pack cert line
Catnium I read the patch notes, but I don't exactly see or remember every last thing on every single patch note list.
I've been playing for almost 5 years and I had no idea about the tank mine diffusing thing.
Done w basic training, these vids were helpful thanks. The tutorial in game was very basic I feel like I needed a more advanced one. Concerning a lot of the Meta gameplay too

That wont happen, the engineer already got plenty of options. I usually play engineer. Medics need all the help they can get.
plainlake Why is that? A medic with a GD-7F would be extremely lethal, more so than one with an NC9a Tross.
GunFuMaster
You are comparing two weapons which have completely different roles.
ActionHirvi Moose Alright, a Medic with a GR-22 is less lethal than a Medic with a GD-7F.
GunFuMaster i'm not sure that u play this game properly. GR22 is extremely powerful CQC weapon and it is equalnor better than GD-7
It would be nice if engies have ability like a medics "triage", its quite logical to be able to repair vehicle from inside of it... Or repairing maxes in sundies or gals were both in...
So happy it came out now on ps4 just got email to play
4:05 sup?
Repairing tanks, MAX, or terminals while underfire is just a thrill. Because I'm a tank's and MAX's lifeline.
I wouldn't recommend placing ammo packs TOO far apart, though- if you're standing within range of multiple packs, you'll resupply off of all of them, which can replenish an empty ammo reserve right quick.

Also is it better to have the engineer equipped with a shotgun than a carbine?
protip dont underestimate akwardly placed turret, no one suspect a turret EVER
What TR gun at 3:12? would love if someone told me
Urgent is the releasing on the Uk
04:02 Lmao. I gonna qoute Higby: "What bugs? Wie don't have any bugs in the game!"
There's plenty of bugs crawling around Hossin. It's pretty fun stomping on them. They're all squishy and make funny noises. Oh, wait, you mean the other kind of bugs. Riight... Yeah, totally, no bugs anywhere, as far as the eye can see! Emm... Yeah, and, and mosquitoes aren't bugs, they're... they're insects, and... Yeah. That. Yep. Tots.
Why didnt you bring Hurakan Interlink on the live server?
Where's the cert points video?
FINALY
I did not know you can defuse tankmines.thanks
I dont know why you should pick another class. This one kind of has it all, that is if you want to be a "jack of all trades, master at none"
4:01 LOL
0:31 How does that engineer have so much gold on his backpack?
I know this is irrelevant 2 years after but how do you deploy the fourth slot for the turret in ps4?
Nikoshi Azi I believe it’s the left arrow button
Did game coming tommprow on ps4
How is my key for ps4 beta dammn waiting since months

why have you stoped video?
Hey devs,
I need only 1 more exceptional gun to get the black camo, could u give me a code for the golden beamer? I would appreciate it so much!!
im tryng to find tutorials for ps4 anyone know a video
I just wanna know how to place turret on ps4
Excalibur Prime same.
Will this hype train ever be actually launched? Seems like it will never fucking come out...
Why is station cash so hard to get and why does it cost so much real money

+Jānis Grīnvalds Then how do you expect the tanks to move? Shoot guns? Have fast transport? Making all of them have maglev abilites or lasers would make the VS have no unique features.
Sit there and wait to be killed?
planetside 2 is dead?
Bastienreturn nah.
Sorry for swaring but still
Hahahaha nerdoss...

Give how I was promised the goliath super heavy a year ago, it's time to start over.
im tryng to find tutorials for ps4 anyone know a video
