Amen to soups & stews! You can't beat them on cold days and dark winter tea times. Today it's been glorious and sunny, what the heck's going on with our weather lol. Interesting to see if you start sweet pea seeds now 🙂

I would never plant out my brassicas without nets .They wouldn't last a week round here 😊Thank goodness you had a great carrot harvest and lots of squash .

The best plan is no plan just see it and do it 🤦‍♀️.
Carrot and coriander soup 🍜. 12:21 yes perfect on the lily tops they will be even better next year. Sweet peas will burst open too and self seed that area so yes as long as they are dry you can sow them now too. You must do,what works for you or open caterpillar 🐛 rescue centre 😂😂. We finally got rain last night and a bit today and supposedly more Sunday 🤦‍♀️ of course Sunday as there’s a big car show. Great job Tracy and hopefully those blighters are a bit sickly with tummy aches, Ali 🌧️🇨🇦

It's lovely to have days where I can see and do. Thanks on lillies and sweet peas, I hope to get some dry then as it's flipping raining again now so I will send some to you. Typical on the car show. We got rained off a country show at the weekend. Enjoy the rest of your week Ali!

It's a never ending battle with the caterpillars Tracy , might be a good idea to cover them next year with a home made clotch .
Loved the thumbnail at the end , you must be very careful when cleaning that one 😂😂 .

You;re right on covering - funny how I thought they wouldn't need it based on lack of butterflies - more fool me!

Hi Tracey . Love watching everything about your small holding . Would you be canning anything soon . I love and I also do lots of canning and love it . Great to have some canning recipe ideas :-) x

Cabbage white caterpillars were mad this year, I think they had some pact with the slugs. I didn’t grow any brassicas this year, but I had hundreds (literally) of self seeded nasturtiums I was letting run wild and they’ve just all gone - normally they are covered in flowers until frosts. Fingers crossed for your sprouts

We were not hit with cabbage whites until late in the year, and we get the green ones only (for context) but I did spray my brassicas with water every day and I’ve had minimal damage this year. Only one of my late plantings had the worst of it, but recovered once I picked them off. Hopefully you can keep up because they menaces! The rain will be problematic for the BT for sure. I have soup for for the vast majority of my lunches 😂 so a soupy winter sounds good to me

I think the water will definitely have helped. I'm blasting them off as it has rained and washed th BT off every day! Soup is so underrated!

I'm watching your content and I'm curious, have you ever heard of, or considered making a "root cellar" in order to preserve your root vegetables without the need of canning.

Hi there, we have heard of them and have a stores room, above ground, which is cold enough all winter to store the produce like the roots :)
