I know about 4 Chinese dialects and that paper is really just a handwritten note of order with quantity of different sizes and different parts of those shoes to be produced. It probably was a task list for a factory shift supervisor at one point. Definitely not a cry for help, but did also serve as a counter too, so very much recycled. 😂
The plastic eyelets and hooks aren't necessarily a cost cutting measure. For a workboot especially one with a composite toe it can be a choice to do it in plastic as some jobs require you to not have magnetic or even metal parts on you. As such you can see many composite shoes with brass or plastic eyelets or hooks to be compliant in these cases.
The coloured laces are a nice touch.... but something for thought... have a look at the quick zip inserts common in military and paramedic circles. You get a leather and zipper insert that you lace into the boots. Then when you want to put on your boots, you just slide them on, and pull up the zipper... flip the velcro flap over the zipper pull and you're done. Tight boot fit and two seconds per boot to put them on. Something to look at which I think your customers might appreciate.
It’s a tally sheet in Chinese. The worker at the factory probably written it down on the production factory for his notes. Doesn’t look like those notes from the workers in the prison that left in the items. Probably just a note written to keep the tally working at the factory
$250 price point I love in Louisiana, and out here $250 is a very common yearly boot allowance from chemical plants/ contractors. Most of the boot stores will also give a 10% discount to cover taxes so there will be no out of pocket expenses for a new pair of boots. Longevity isn’t that important since we get new ones every year. I’m 9 months in with my first pair of Twisted X, and they still look pretty good, but overall they just feel great on my feet to walk 5-7 miles a day.
I always really appreciate your reviews. I've used them to make decisions on buying boots. I haven't been lead wrong yet. You and Project Farm are some of my buying guides for footwear and tools.
So, i'm a Retail Worker and I bought some real expensive Twisted X boots afew year's ago(You have virtually the same model that I did.). And, it took me buying some 5 dollar Temu hiking shoes to realize that I was being scammed. 200 bucks down the drain for boots that were super nice, but, because they're cemented. They'll start to fall apart for me in about 6 months. Now, while I know many probably can't believe it, I walk between 10-16k steps a day(That's anywhere from 5-8 miles.). My shoes need to both be comfortable AND capable of not falling apart. The only ones that have ever done it, were the Temu shoes. LITTERALLY the only reason is that the Temu shoes were stitched together not glued.
Red Wing is closing the doors on its iconic Vasque brand, which they started in 1964. While some of the Vasque styles may be moved over to Irish Setter, the rest will be permanently retired. This could include the Sundowner, which is my favorite hiker (as long as I've replaced the insoles with some Powerstep insoles). A pair of Vasque Sundowners can easily cover more than 1,000 miles and keep going (I know from experience).

So so I am relatively new to your channel. I never thought I would be watching somebody cutting shoes and boots in half and now my wife thinks I’m crazy for doing so lol. But I just wanted to say thank you for educating me on shoe construction. This has helped me make better decisions when purchasing shoes and boots. I just recently bought a pair of Red Wings 1907. Fantastic boot and I am breaking them in slowly. Finally I’m curious have any of the shoe manufacturers complained about their shoes and choices of materials being exposed for all of us to see?
From what he's said in previous videos, they have and they have tried to pressure him to stop. But it's not like it's Illegal in any way to take apart a pair of shoes that you own and show it for all to see. Through this though, other companies reach out to him that do have a good product and that's how we collectively find good brands and products. I've bought myself a couple of Goral Shoes, Rock Roosters, and just bought myself my first pair of Whites boots with the blood core.

i daily drive some blåkläder boots, 4years of use and still holding up strong, cool copper eyelets and comfortable sole. Modified them with extra stitching on the heel side and zipper and made them kinda waterproof so i dont think these will ever break on me. Also made pattern on the sole for extra traction on slippy surfaces, when adding bit of pressure it feels like im glued down when trying to push my foot forward. Boots like this you have here probably will only last year of daily abuse at concrution site
I have been wearing Twisted X steel toe cowboy style work boots for a couple of months now. The boot is water buffalo, which is soft. Overall I am very happy with them. The only negative I can say is that the leather lining at the heel is rough on my heels. But I'm on my feet in these boots at least 12 hours a day and they are comfortable and light. They don't wear me out and my feet feel good at the end of the day.
Twisted x are you listening? Add the option for a steel shank. It will add like what 1-2 bucks to produce? Also add a little thicker leather! You could be the king of work boots if you could partner with gore-Tex and make the boot officially water proof. After this video dropped tonight, the spotlight is on you! We’re watching. If you dropped a bombshell and made immediate improvements,it would be worth it. Shit, have the CEO come on the podcast, and discuss the new “premier” version of this show. Step up the game here guys. With the new type of tech you have already developed, I’m drooling, but can’t pull the trigger yet.
This is a new for me, I've never seen designer safety boots before, where I'm from, if you wear a pair of boots like these, you'll be laughed off the jobsite

I might consider those if I was standing on concrete all day in a warehouse picking parts off a shelf to load on trucks or something like that. A lot of those jobs require safety toes. I drive a concrete mixer truck and I am standing in water and mud all day long. They wouldn’t last two months at my job. My job is really hard on boots and over the years I’ve had a lot of trial and error at buying boots. I only wear Thorogood moc toes in the warmer months and Red Wing loggers in the winter
I know it may be a bit much but can u make a playlist of all the moctoe boots. So I don’t have to scroll through all the videos to find them. Love what ur doing it’s awesome that someone has a true breakdown so we know what we are buying
Interesting, I own the steel toe moccasin that they sell and it lasted me 6 months. Now that is walking miles every day at the job site, ladders, rocks etc. The leather, sole and blend 85 insole held up surprisingly well. Not so much for everything else. Had to replace the shoe laces a couple of times, and all the internals are falling apart. For 140ish they are okay if you rarely go in the field, but I think I’m going to do the custom boot thing with Jim Green bc my JG ST razorback is going like a champ!
The shank in a work-boot is to prevent damage to the arch of the foot from stepping on narrow diameter, linear materials like conduit, rebar, angle iron, 2x4s etc. So it makes sense that you could bend the boot so easily from heel to tow upward. Because that's going to allow for a more comfortable experience for the wearer. If you could bend the boot in half as easily the opposite direction......That would be no bueno. Think of skateboarding shoes. They don't want to bruise the bottom of their feet if they accidentally land on the edge of their board doing a kick-flip or whatever it's called. Right? It's the same directional concept.
I started watching your channel during the pandemic cause you're cute and funny. I do not buy work boots. I'm glad YT finally decided to put the channel back in my recommends. It's like my algo got a reset after the election. Seeing all sort of channels I thought had stopped uploading content.
Could you do a review of the new Thursday challenger? I’ve been looking into them because they have no foam or anything like that. I’d be interested to hear your opinion. Thanks for exposing the boot industry!
U r great! U do us all shoe enthusiasts a favor and u hold all the manufacturers responsible ! From cheap to more expensive (e.g. RM WILLIAMS) Thank u again !
From what can be made out, this looks like internal factory or workshop notes on boot/shoe specs. The numbers (15.7, 7.6, 37, 3.5, etc.) are almost certainly measurements (in centimeters or possibly thickness in ‘tenths’ of a millimeter) or references to size/fit. Phrases like “鞋面” (shoe upper), “外底” (outsole), and “材料” (materials) suggest it’s describing how certain parts of the boot are cut, glued, or assembled. Because the paper is torn and handwriting is partly illegible, a fully accurate translation isn’t possible. The text we can see mostly deals with measurements, size references, and short notes about materials or processes.
I want to see you do this kind of breakdown on a pair of danner boots I’ve been wearing these boots for over two years and other than the laces going to crap after a year and a half I’ve really liked these boots.
Plastic eyelets are actually fine or even superior to metal if made from the right plastic, because most metal eyelets tend to fracture or fatigue pretty quickly when hit/bent.
Hey, if you’re looking for some interesting things to cut in half, motocross boots like Garne SG22 are Italian leather stitch down boots with a bunch of motorcycle crazy space age safety stuff on them for the price of a good handmade leather work boot. I’m sure it’d be super interesting to see inside.
Ariats has gone downhill. Ever since they started making everything offshore, the quality has suffered. I used to get a couple years out of Ariat boots, now it’s 4-6 months. :(
I own a pair of Twisted X's and they're alright. It's a pretty comfortable boot, lightweight. Some of the stitching is coming undone on the right boot. They are a bit overpriced. My job isn't inherently hard per se but if I was working on my feet all day they probably wouldn't last. I'd give them a 6.5 outta 10.
Your channel just came up in my feed I like it. Got a question biggest thing I have with work boots is companies going past size 15. I'm size 16 wide. Try to find that in insulated work boots. I can get the rubber ones all day long. I've been thinking about getting some custom-made ones. It's hard enough to get clothes I'm 7 ft tall.
I’m curious how the Keen Cincinnati 6” Moc Toe Wedge compares to these mid-tier work boots? I’m looking for a lightweight safety boot due to arthritis from an injury while in the Navy. I still support ships as a civilian and need a lightweight safety boot that doesn’t flare up the ole’ arthritic ankle. The Keen Cincinnati is on my short list. Looking for suggestions. Thank you.
Love the zoom in on the bad center cut. ive looked at the zerox zero glue shoes a few times. They look like theyd be a great breathable summer shoe but ive always pivoted towards something more durable. Bought some keen flint 2s last time and looking at Barefoot AR this time. These boots look decent enough but a little overpriced. Will you be cutting the Diehard Malibu or the Rockrooster Mantua this moctober?
Carbon nanotubes are really cool and way different from regular carbon fiber, similar to the strength difference between rod stock and tube stock. Super interesting to see them used in a safety toe.
Highly doubt they’re actual carbon nanotubes due to the price differential making them entirely unfeasible for a boot at this price point. Not to mention there’s no reason to use nanotubes instead of fibres at this scale. The polymer matrix provides more than enough strength for a boot. Carbon fibres are a few thousand nanometers in diameter, so probably a case of the legal team saying “we’re technically right, can’t sue us. Print it.”
@@vladislavboulavine5139 I was thinking the same thing, I was a bit surprised to see the carbon fiber weave, wouldn't put it passed them to just use plastic the fibers in it.
hey im Australian ive been wearing mongrel work boot the sku:561060 boot they are one of the best work boot they are around $200 aus i would love to see you test them
I will say that in the auto plant that I work in, metal eyelets and other pieces are not permitted for wear in the assembly department. So I would guess that may be why they use the plastic eyelet? Just a guess though
I own a pair of Twisted X driving shoes that are basically just house shoes and that’s all I wear them for. For work I wear nicks builder pros and for going out I wear a pair of nicks packers. I won’t own anything else to work in. My builder pros are super comfortable after thought broke in
I rank these as number 1 on this list yes I do prefer comfort over everything else you said in this video. I don't need a shank nor care if my boot has them, I don't do ANY work that ever needs one, so for me who cares!?, I want comfy Moc toes water proof is a bonus, its rainy here in WA. Plus warm insides are also not frowned upon for me but comfy Moc toe is what I want more than anything else.
Liberty Footwear out of Michigan got US made safety toe mocc for $189.00 (Gary CT model) Direct attach wedge sole, nano tube carbon safety cup, full grain or nubuck upper
I've had cemented work boots that lasted years, but they had a cupsole like a sneaker. This style with with smaller glue surface and the convenient faux-welt to snag on things is probably a bad idea. The were also much cheaper. These may be ok in a warehouse or workshop setting that's mostly standing on even concrete.
Weston, I am from Oklahoma and will say that TwistedX became so popular as a work boot that the boot shops had to start carrying them. Now, the boots I am talking about are the square toe cowboy looking work boots. Every single guy I have talked to about TwistedX says they will never buy another boot because of the comfort. So down here, TwistedX is king of cowboy work boots. And some of the guys I talked to were linemen so they have no problem climbing ladders or poles with bolts in them.
Really? I haven't had any of that experience, as an Oklahoman. The ariats seem most common for "modern" cowboy boots, and workbooks are pretty varied. Rockies and especially Georgia's seem quite common.
@@sinisterthoughts2896 It was about 8-12 years ago that I was talking to the guys, however, I was making fun of the fact they wore square toes. I live in the Ada area and most of them were electricians, road workers, and city workers. I was surprised at how many were wearing them. Then I noticed they started taking up a lot of room on the retail isles in boot stores. Could just be in my area, and it may have changed since 2016.
i would realy like you guys to review canada west boots. i have a pair myself and i realy love them. the model i would recomend is the model 34432 they are linesman boots steel toe with a goodyear welt construction
I hate hooks on shoes, I'm not too serious about super high quality sneakers/hiking boots as I tend to trash through them quickly (I wear AFO's in my shoes which savage any shoe they touch), but even metal hooks I've found can just randomly snap off from frequent tightening. Was shocked to notice some metal hooks on one pair I was wearing just popped clean off without notice and got lost somewhere.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Looks great for a job where you stand on concrete all day.
13:02 whoooooa easy there Homelander 😂
I know it may be a bit much but can u make a playlist of all the moctoe boots. So I don’t have to scroll through all the videos to find them. Love what ur doing it’s awesome that someone has a true breakdown so we know what we are buying
My 4 colored laces are expected to be at my house by 10/21, ordered on 10/16. Very excited! I got Tan, Blue, Red, and yellow. They’re $19 each.
Been waiting for the twisted x video for a while. Cool technology and awesome video!
Yoooooo, been waiting for this
Could you do a review of the new Thursday challenger? I’ve been looking into them because they have no foam or anything like that. I’d be interested to hear your opinion. Thanks for exposing the boot industry!
I think all the boot guys are trying to get their hands on them.
U r great! U do us all shoe enthusiasts a favor and u hold all the manufacturers responsible ! From cheap to more expensive (e.g. RM WILLIAMS) Thank u again !
I actually own an 8-inch version of Twisted X’s moc toe lace up boot in a chocolate mocha rough-out. They’re very comfortable and great looking.
I think the metal eyelid break faster than the plastic one while working. Specially in th3 coldpull your laces tight and they pop off😮.
Those laces are awesome already got a couple pairs
I vote to cut the moc toe lace up. I want to see how it stacks up with the Red Wing traction tred lite
That's new. Interesting. Keep doing what you're doing!
I saw this boot in half!
Please review Keen moc toe boots. Wide toe box, and interesting manufacturing choices such as not using glues or cements for their outsoles
Ariat cascade 8"
Great boot at a great price. Used to where whites. For the price, i just buy these now. Cut em up. Test em!
Thank you.
Hey you mentioned Brunt in the video. I was curious are you going to do a video on the USA Brunt Marin? Is it's any better vs the old one?
Like to see the Whites Fulton as a less expensive option from Whites and how they're constructed.
Do the boot laces rip easily? I’ve had leather boot laces before and they ripped as I was tightening them.
Can you review Carolina 508. I’m I welder and they are the best boots I’ve found but I’m always looking for something better.
You really should do a review on Origin’s new Moc toe, since it’s Moctober!
I reallly really value you opinion. GREAT CHANNEL
I know it’s October but you should try their cowboy boots, I’ve got a pair that’s leather bottomed and they seem pretty good quality to me
Blue balls is real. Educate the masses!
Surprised I can’t find any review videos on anything from Frye, would love to see it!
Blue balls out of all the colors! 😆
hey im Australian ive been wearing mongrel work boot the sku:561060 boot they are one of the best work boot they are around $200 aus i would love to see you test them
I like your videos. I would like to see a book cut on a origins moctoe
never seen that boot before but to me it looks like one of them boots that could be a squeaky boy.
Definitely gotta do the boot barn brand boots (hawx)
Dude you need to review the Origin mock toes please
The note is tally of the materials and labor going into this boot. It says the boot cost 69.24 Yuan to produce or $9.75 USD.
I'd love to see more quality safety toe boots
I’ve had a pair of these for about 2 months, the welts are splitting off the leather, I’m debating trying to warranty them
Liberty Footwear out of Michigan got US made safety toe mocc for $189.00 (Gary CT model)
Direct attach wedge sole, nano tube carbon safety cup, full grain or nubuck upper
I had some cowboy boots style twisted x boots steel toe like 20 years ago and they were awesome all brown leather pull on boots
Eddie Bauer has a really nice Moc Toe boot id love for you to analyze! 😁
The main thing I need from ever shoe I wear is damn near titanium arch support. Those boots would kill my feet and knees
That is factory worker's working note. It probably just got inside the boot accidentally.
It didn't
The letter was the cheat code for Contra 😅
Are we going to see a Jim Green Moc on the channel this month? I am really hoping that your relationship with the company will lead to a spotlight on their new release!
