How far does $1K take you on the dollar stretching site of Alibaba / AliExpress? Turns out, it gets you a single bare cordless 1" impact wrench, much like you can get state side, so it had better bring it! We find out.

Yup
The amount of time and money this channel saves people arguably warrants a Nobel Prize.
TTC is definitely dynamite...
I know right? I would have spent upwards of $1000-1200 on the mid torque and high torque m18 Milwaukee impact wrenches and a long reach ratchet with batteries but I spent $480 for all three ryobi hp tools with 5 batteries and 2 chargers. Ttc is goat in the tool testing world. Consumer reports can go eat a bag of dicks

@@IHWKR I don't disagree with the sentiment, but that's not what the Nobel Prize is about. I'm sure there is a prize out there for this kind of engineering.

Jiffylube definitely uses these to install oil plugs and filters.
You just made my day. Fucking hilarious.
Either that, or finger tight if some else is using the gun 😉
No need for an impact gun to make oil filters nearly impossible to remove: install one without generously lubricating the seal, you may have a hell of a time getting it off after it dries in place. I do my own oil changes so I know for certain the oil filter was only hand-tight and had to crush the oil filter with a long woodworking clamp to wrench it off once.
Yea someone already said that.
No wonder my filter is cracked and leaking.
Aliexpress is usually more of a "sweetspot" market place. It seems like even the sellers know that they won't sell a lot of very expensive stuff, so the good stuff is usually in the cheaper range. Everything very expensive is either not really meant for sale, rare components or just spam. Glad to see that this video shows that its not always true.
Aliexpress is amazing if you ignore the "choice" (VERY annoying) garbage and actually contact sellers. I ask a for a lot of custom orders.

They sell decent to good tools there too, from chinese brands barely known in the rest of the world, like ken, dongcheng and devon. These brands are actually owned by companies that make certain tools or parts for the big names, devon comes from chervon which is well known for flex and skil, dongcheng makes stuff for makita and bosch
Ruiba is also advertised as a "pro" brand
Do dongcheng and Bosch share the same batteries?
I own a dongcheng and found out they are the same as DCA and DCK that is sold locally in my country. Mine is a domestic (china version) that has chinese letters that says dongcheng. Would be glad to know if there is a performance difference between their domestic vs imported impacts.
Wow I went to see devon singapore website and some of their tools are identical to flex 24v
Devon 20V battery are interchangeable with Flex 18v Europe
I wonder how much of the cost was the inclusive shipping.
Somewhere around $200
Hey Clive, are you actually thinking of getting one to reverse engineer?

12:04 - Im no expert but this round ring on top of device is meant to be used to hang the device around worker neck or with some special vest. Like the one for grass mower. Its heavy when you use it only by hands but its not meant to be used like that.

To be frank the big box tool companies just don't have a excuse for how much there tools have just become pieces of junk for the price when you can buy tools like this online. It may not be refined but it gets the job done
But this costs as much (or more) as the big box tools?
@corystansbury I'm speaking in general
@@corystansbury Considering that about 25% of its price was likely shipping and that if shipped by the container full shipping would be much less, not quite as true.
As an occasional power tool user I'm satisfied with the tools from the German supermarkets. They're usually made in Deutschland and come with a 3 year warranty, at least in Europe. If I was a tradesperson relying on a tool every day I'd go for one of the big brands, even if I could get something comparable from China.
When I was a kid I asked my dad's friend why he had such an expensive Fluke multimeter when my £5 one does everything his does. He said if I took your multimeter to a job I'd get laughed off site.
To be frank the big box tools will still work in two weeks and if not at least have a warranty or return system, sites like Ali are notorious for brushing off complaints even after asking users to send a video for proof.
TTC could review flow rates on different plastic straws and id still get a dopamine hit from seeing a new video in my feed

It is likely to keep running in the same direction if switched while running. Many things fail to switch polarity unless they completely stop turning, I have found.
Electronic protection is what does that.
@@AnotherPointOfView944 In this case, probably deliberate in the control board. Many single phase AC motors always run in the direction they are started in. Heck, Getting them going in a certain direction is what the starter cap is for.

AliExpress has become more of a serious marketplace in the last 5 years. Less crap, more legit stuff. Some good bargains to be had there.
I've found the opposite. They advertise things, then ask for samples despite showing the exact part I wanted!
Temu and Wish are taking over the cheap useless market so our girl Ali can focus on more serious stuff
Imagine if the AliExpress listings did not lie... people might/would trust them. This tool seems to have the potential, but when one sees the out of this world specs, one says no way. Interesting that you took the risk and showed us that it is not that bad.
I've had the same thought many times.
Over the years I bought quite a bit of cheap chinesium from Amazon and more often than not it turned out to be solid stuff that would be a good deal even without those ridiculous exaggerations. Tool batteries being a good example, or flashlights. Nobody with two braincells believes that your 20$ M12 battery has 8Ah. But even with half of that it's a good deal to run a light or something.
Just be honest. A customer whose expectations are met comes again. A customer who expected 8Ah does not.
A 1/2" high torque M18 removes all of our semi lug nuts just fine . Most are around 400- 500 ' lb .
That's wild. I got stranded with a blown out tire, bought a m18 hi torque brand new, 5ah battery fully charged, and the tool got 2 lugs off my f150 before overheating and taking the battery down to 2 bars. Must have been 45 or 50 seconds per lug that it actually got off. I torqued them myself so I know what they started at just a few months before, but my god was that just not the right day for it. Takes em off now just fine but not that day no sir.
Yep. When copper grease anti seize is used and correct torque used, ie done up only till it clicks, not check it after 15 ugga duggas.
You are lucky the M18 hi torque at work is a bench queen no one will go near it. The old IR air unit or one of the Bosch battery units are prefered.
@jacobroche1260 Yeah they are definitely meant for regular vehicles and not semis. Alternatively you could pair it with a breaker bar and use the impact the rest of the way.
This is crazy amazing! I’m loving this channel more and more
I’ve started to buy corded tools for this type of thing. I’ve got a small generator for power at remote sites.
My truck has 115v plugs, and there is usually access to power on site.
I’m really enthusiastic about cordless tools for many jobs, but for some tools corded seems less issues.
I’ve also got some good value purchases in heavy corded tools. Solid, powerful long lasting.
Agree... however do any tools actually run on your built in 115/120V vehicle outlet? All the ones I have seen max out at like 60-100 watts.
Drilled more, the. Last impact order , was 300 military wheels. Complete take downs. Air tools did it. No added heat.No electrocuted, with a tire made pool of water element. Of the 1000s bolts removed. No breaks, or known strip jobs.
Im working on a bridge on the pa turnpike, well I'm actually doing the pipe work around it but the iron workers who are actually doing the bridge use the Milwaukee for bolting everything together on that bridge.
@frankmfeb13 As long as they're doing final torque by hand.
They are, aren't they ?

I don't think it's winding up the coil spring. I think what you're feeling is the motor failing to start the programming recognizing it and it actually running the motor in reverse momentarily to give the hammer some run up room. At least that's what it looks like in the video.
just to give you a reference, a tank's projectile is about 15 lb. for that to be just 12 lb without anything else is ridiculous awesome. would love to have one in the arsenal.
Glad you guys are out there fighting the good fight.
3xLXT batteries seems to be the next logical step.
For the ability to move 10 lug nuts away from the shop, it would be $$ well spent. Esp using it to wring heads off stubborn bolts/nuts elsewhere.
A 3/4" Milwaukee does that job just fine for me.
So, the motor is vastly undersized for the hammer assembly. Seems like they should use a motor that could take advantage of 2x dewalt 60v batteries.
That's the worst bit about a lot of Ali express tools. They all catered for Makita batteries since they are most common.
It would be cool if they offered an option to change the connector to what ever brand you wanted.
This thing with two massive DeWalt batteries would rip.
@@freedomofmotion Sounds like a plan for a new video. Using adapters to use dewalt or milwaukee batteries. Even then I think that might not be that great since the motor is undersized.
This is how I remember it's Friday
Totally agree with your conclusion. Without an easy warranty, it’s essentially just a very cool novelty. Made for a great video you. We appreciate ya, mate!
Thank you for making this video. I've always been curious as to how well some of these expensive off brand tools are, but I never wanted to pay the price and find out.
I hope the US manufacturers see this and consider upping the mass of their hammer assemblies. Not as overboard as this looks, but a step up from the current situation.
You had me at 15 seconds - Yeah, I'm gonna need that!

I built 2 of "The Beans" packs for some of my tools(I have a few Ework tools and batteries as well because of this channel), I wonder if they would power this thing adequately. Wow, that’s impressive. I wish Milwaukee would add a second battery version of their 1” impact. Thanks for gambling your money to test equipment, looks like this one paid off.
This thing need the backpack super battery used on it until the motor burns out then put a more powerful motor in it and see how hard we can push that massive anvil
If you want power, you need mass. Classic rule, just look at trains with just about any power plant. Look at the old flywheels on machine lathes. The bigger it is, the more potential energy it has.
Whether or not your power plant has enough energy to use that mass efficiently is a different story, but there is precedent for the mass to make up for it once it's going.

The real question is who designed this tool? I would put money on it being a prototype from one of the big brands that is being made 3rd shift in the factory. A teardown of the electronics would be very interesting to see.
You would lose that money.
Made by Ruiba Power tools, who also made tools for Amazon brand Eworks. They are legit manufacturers, not some fly by night rebadging brands that you usually see on Amazon.
Sole reason I bought an m18 1/2” gun is because it can remove my 33mm lugs in less than 1 battery- obviously, without air. That bugger is something else
