You should invest in a large jump starter made from a couple heavy duty high output alternators running off a small gas motor. With some long jumper cables. We use them on roadside assistance for big trucks and such.
After my initial gasp at the towing cost, I thought it out a bit more, and it is "only" about $3 something a mile. Still a lot, but those big boy wreckers aren't cheap to buy either. From my experiences with Blue Birds, their motor home interiors are first rate, with high end everything. Underneath, not so much. For a skoolie it no doubt meets all the requirements, but compared to a highway bus, not so much. VERY hard to service, as everything is in the way of something else. Since yours has a front engine, you should have considerably less problems. (famous last words)
@ Life of Lind: You have a good deal of experience with RV's. What manufacturers are known for solid well built, ideally overbuilt RV's of the 80's. I do understand the biggest factor is how well it was maintained. You never really are sure what you get, just an educated guess. But what 2 or 3 manufacturers/engine combinations would you look for to start a remod from? Thanks.
Surely it would of been better to have the tow company do the repairs for you so you could drive it home & save the recovery cost & try contacting the church who owned the bus to maybe buy the keys 👍🏻
Thats still stuck 5 hours away with a huge 2k plus repair bill and all they did was install an electric fuel pump... so im currently having issues with the repair shop that thinks they can charge whatever they want lol
@@LifeofLind Guess that shows you it is a good policy to add one of those $18.00 click clack electric fuel pumps, some gas line, and other small stuff to your travel kit. You can never have too many tools and small parts with you! On the bus and motor homes, you can pretty much expect the drive shaft disconnected, and at least some of the parts lost!

Love your videos but a quick constructive criticism, you keep moving the camera around to quickly so we don’t actually see anything . But most of the time it’s great .
Those wrecker services are notoriously greedy. $200 (or whatever for gas expenses, etc..) plus $120 per hour for a 10 hour trip should have been more than enough. Around $1,400 total.
@@raycoleman3183 Maybe l don't but around here, even a half mile tow after dark can cost you $250 and storage fees are $30 a day. You can rent a VERY nice house in this area for that..

I can almost reach everything under the bonnet, all just have to be careful where i put my walls
For the price you payed for the tow, you should have just had it towed to a shop close to where you picked it up, and had the shop get it running.
Good luck w the bus, dude. Can't wait to see the progress w it. Cheers and keep up the awesome work!
Thanks! Will do!

I think i would buy a tow truck for cases where you need to tow a rig home . You'd probably save money paying to have one towed home .
true haha

If he can get 3.21:1 rear gears, I sure hope so.
Now just swap that big block for the Cummings you'd have a nice motor home
